100' Lake Frontage On The East Side Of Torch
About Lisa Hubert
Waqaa! (Yupik greeting of Hello) I have hundreds of childhood memories of being raised at the old Camp Fairwood from camping to sailing. I currently live in Alaska but it has been my dream to own a little piece of Torch and I am now sharing my dream with you. Enjoy walking in the past amongst the old hard woods and crystal clear waters of Torch Lake. The sunsets will let you forget that there is any time but the moment. I am sure it will rejuvenate you as it does the same for me.
Lisa Hubert purchased this Cabin in 2013

What makes this Cabin unique
Grandma's cottage has beautiful 100' private lake frontage in the surroundings of Cedar and Birch hardwoods. It offers your own 90 ft. dock, boat lift (1000 lbs), beautiful newly built patio and a secure mooring ball. The east side of Torch lends itself to unforgettable sunsets and easy access around the lake. On sunny days, the lake has a wide array of hues of blue that are reminiscent of the Caribbean. You are not far from Dewitt's Marina, Bellaire, Alden and Brownwood Acres. Grandma's Cottage is very unique with the knotty pine interior and furnishings. Everything is clean and spotless just as Grandma would have it. It is set up with 2 bedrooms with enough sleeping for 6 people. There is an enclosed outdoor porch that looks out to the lake where you can enjoy a breakfast while feasting your eyes on the third Most Beautiful Lake in the World, recognized by National Geographic Magazine. The summer of 2016, Grandma's Cottage will now offer wireless internet, outdoor deck with patio furniture, newly renovated flagstone patio/fire pit with walk ways to cabin and water. Nice week on Torch.
Very cute cottage with a great location. Didn't want for anything. very clean. Two small towns closeby with some fun things to do including a supermarket in Bellaire. Scored an almost perfect week of weather which helped. If you are coming without a boat you will find it pricey and hard to find anything other than pontoon boats. A boat is not necessary but adds much to the enjoyment. Only complaint: mattress in MBR needs replacing. I think the listing said it had been replaced recently but I must have read it wrong. My 120 lb wife wound up in the middle and me on the sofa several nights. All in all nice stay.
Thank you Randy for your feedback - appreciate all reviews. Yes, that was a new mattress purchased in the Fall of 2018, so we were a little puzzled why it was so uncomfortable for you and your wife. We took the bed apart looking for the culprit and I think we found it! The bed frame looked like it could use more support - so we purchased a new bed frame. Bingo! I think the problem is solved.
Great property! We loved our stay. Nice beach and dock.
Loved Grandma’s Cottage
Our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay at Grandma’s cottage. Drinking coffee with such a beautiful view was great in the mornings and campfires in the evening. We tied up our boat to the mooring ball all week and that worked out just fine. Enjoyed eating at Shorts Brewery & Lunchbox in Bellaire and Dockside on the lake. Reading in the hammock by the lake was so peaceful. Thank you for sharing your place.
Great week at Torch Lake
Had a wonderful time at Grandma's Cottage. Perfect location for all we wanted to do!
Extremely enjoyable once again! Grandma’s Cottage was perfect for our needs.
However, because my friend and I are 86 and 87 years old respectively, with some health issues, I am not renewing for next year because EMS facilities are just too far away. It’s not worth taking the risks involved.
Otherwise, the neighborhood and the neighbors were interesting and very pleasant.
We had a wonderful two week vacation!
We had a wonderful time at Grandma's cottage. The property is breath-taking with incredible Torch Lake frontage. The swimming was so much fun for our kids and the view of the sunsets, while sitting in the hammock or the dock were breath-taking. The cottage was cozy, clean, and had plenty of room for our family of 5. We loved having coffee on the front porch in the morning while enjoying a view of the lake. The owners are super responsive to questions. We highly recommend Grandma's Cottage and plan to do future vacations there!
Upgrades for Summer of 2017 include a new lawn and landscaping in the front yard facing Torch Lake, bathroom faucets/toilet, flagstone walkway to entry way.
Summer 2016 will have a beautiful renovated flagstone patio/fire pit and walkways that lead right down to the lake. We also added additional parking!
As of the summer season of 2015, Grandma's Cottage will go wireless. In addition, a beautiful porch was built along with new patio furniture. We still have a deluxe dock that extends 90 feet into the water, and a secure mooring ball for your boats.
Right out your front door is a deck and fire pit with Adirondack chairs around the perimeter.
Brownwood Acres only a few miles North is a unique cluster of stores with souvenirs, light lunches, renown fresh doughnuts, and toy store especially fun for the kids.
Traveling south is Dewitt's Marina along with the famous Dock Side Bar/Restaurant at the entry of Clam River.
Traveling even far there south either by boat or car is the action packed Torch Rivera Marina and a favorite hang out for boaters due to the amazing sandbar and crowd. Great hang-out for the young people. On the Fourth of July it is the place to be to view the phenomenal display of fireworks.
There are a number of top golf courses in the area, Shanty Creek with 'The Legend' designed by Arnold Palmer and of course, Grand Traverse Resort & Spa with 'The Bear' designed by Jack Nicklaus.
Traveling south is the quaint town of Alden that has public launch pad and docks. On Thursday nights they host a special evening with stores staying open late and live entertainment (music, magic show, etc.).
Traveling M88 to the cute town of Bellaire you will find all sorts of cuisine, brewery, and entertainment. They also host a well stocked grocery/liquor store.
