There is an in season fee of $40 per person per week to use community amenities. Only purchase the number of passes you will need at any one time as they are transferable among house guests. Off season amenity passes are $10 and $15. Golf is separate from the community amenities. Outdoor pool season is extended and, so close, that you can pop over quickly. Children over 12 can use amenities without parents (subject to change).
While this community is wonderful in the summer, it is equally wonderful in the spring and fall. Even after the outdoor pools close, there are still plenty of things to do. Walking or biking around the community is cooler off season and we are looking forward to a new trail opening nearby (hopefully soon).
We grew up in separate parts of Maryland and spent years vacationing in Maryland and Delaware beaches as children. We have lived in Baltimore for 14 years and are busy raising our 2 young children (they helped decorate the twin and bunk rooms). We found our way back to Bethany because of how relaxing we find our beach home and the close proximity and ability to enjoy the property year round.
Adrienne Kubeluis purchased this townhome in 2012
We purchased this property because of its prime location within this resort community which allows us to use the amenities easily and more frequently - and still access the beach quickly. It's a lovely location year round with plenty of activities. While a beach front location would be nice, this location offers so many more activities not available at the beach and allows everyone to easily pop over to enjoy their own activity, while still being close. It takes 30 seconds to walk to the pavilion - how easy is that? So far (and hopefully), it's better protected from bad weather and storms. Someday, it may have an Ocean View. Our children love to run around the Village Green and 'perform' at the amphitheater, visit the 'bear' behind the restaurant and Clubhouse, play Frisbee in the back yard, visit Old Pro Golf's Indoor Miniature Golf, the Carousel's ice rink, explore James Farm ecological preserve with a dog, watch a move at the old time Clayton Theater - and enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools... Off season, there are lots of community activities too - we've found the beach full of people on Thanksgiving weekend, discovered a local Thanksgiving turkey trot, Easter egg roll, triathlon, and Memorial Day parade....so far.
We live in Maryland so it is close enough to enjoy a weekend trip - and so relaxing for us... and all of the exterior work is done by the HOA - and beautifully kept up. Our children are busy summer swimmers at home during June and July.
This property is so well equipped, feels like a single family home and has exceptional amenities that we were unable to match in the Delaware/Maryland beach communities. We hope you enjoy it too.
Bear Trap Dunes is a wonderful place to stay and this home, in particular, was a great home base for our group of 2 adults and 4 kids. It was practically adjacent to the clubhouse which had indoor and outdoor pools, gym, basketball and tennis courts. The home had everything we could possibly want: a well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds that could sleep at least 8, a gas grill, bicycles, beach umbrellas, and everything we needed for our puppy (food and water bowls, crate, tie-out). The owner was wonderful to deal with and very quickly addressed an issue with the air conditioning that arose during our stay. I would absolutely recommend this property and, in fact, plan to come back myself.
We recently came back from a trip to Bear Trap. We thought this property was just wonderful. I often worry when renting a place that it won't be that nice. I was not disappointed with this wonderful home. The beds were comfortable. The house was roomy. There were lots of amenities, and the location right on the lake was fantastic. The lake provided hours of fun for our kids, all within view of the deck and screened porch.
I certainly would like to stay here again.
This vacation home was just beautiful, comfortable furniture and beds and nicely decorated. We really appreciated that is was spotless clean and you could tell the owner cares about the property by how nicely it is kept up. She also answered all my questions
The home is neat, clean and well furnished. The kitchen is well equipped. The home is located near the community pool, fitness center and golf course.
The owner is easy to reach and truly wants you to enjoy your stay.
We enjoyed our stay at this house. The kitchen was well-stocked, even a crockpot! We had enough beds for each person and the kids enjoyed the divided room! We enjoyed skating a biking in the development. The owner was very nice to work with, very helpful with information prior to arrival and took care of a slight problem while we were at the house. We had a wonderful time!

Watch golfers tee off on hole 1 and finish on 9 on Bear Trap Dunes 27 hole course; watch herons and other birds on the pond. Quiet resort community one mile from grocery and shops. Nearby kayaking, nature centers and beaches. Home is perfectly located to enjoy resort amenities without using your car.
