About Jim Tennant
I have worked in Canada's Northwest Territories for 40 years and have volunteered one month per year at St Jude Hospital near Vieux Fort, St Lucia for more than 30 years.
Jim Tennant purchased this Villa in 2012
Why Jim Tennant chose Laborie
In 2013 we decided to buy the house in Laborie, our favorite village on the island. Laborie is not a tourist village but has local stores and restaurants. We will be spending at least 3 months of the year enjoying the climate and the people on this beautiful island in the Caribbean.
What makes this Villa unique
We love the garden and the panoramic views of the Caribbean. Saint Vincent is directly south and usually visible unless the weather gets hazy. There is always a breeze which keeps the temperature comfortable. The house is open and airy with large sliding glass doors onto the large patio. We have a plunge pool on the lower patio Just across the road there is a path down to a beach, water is warm and we swim there. There is lots to do within a short and scenic drive including wind and kite surfing, snorkeling/ diving, zip lining.

wonderful rental house-great location
the saphire house is a great rental. from the moment of arrival, concealed by tropical greenery, this multi-level house is comfortable and easy to use. everything works as it should, with plenty of supplies so you needn’t spend time shopping for supplies like laundry soap.
very few rental properties anywhere have such local support and management as the sapphire house. george lee does more than expected to introduce all of the beauty of St. Lucia: from meeting at the airport, guiding on visits to interesting places, even helping to find the best bread or fish. he is a wonderful host and makes the trip and our stay at sapphire house much more rewarding.
the main beach at laborie, as well as the beach that is within walking distance of the house, are probably the best options in the entire south of the island. the pool and terrace at the house is very beautiful!
this is a great rental choice for anyone lucky enough to make a reservation.
Thanks for the great review! I have passed it on to George Lee and I know he really enjoyed spending a little time showing you and your family some of the interesting spots on this beautiful island!
Well equipped house, fantastic views, loved the pool.
The manager, George Lee, was totally attentive and helpful
Sapphire house is a perfect spot for family and relaxation
We really enjoyed our recent vacation, the house was clean and exactly as described. The beach across the road was lovely and the children loved the pool. The house is in a private area, is very safe and within walking distance to the town of Laborie. We had a rental car and saw nearly all of the island in the 2 weeks we were there. St. Lucia is a gem.
George, the house manager, was extremely responsive to all of our requests, he made our vacation very special.
We were unhappy that the house has no screens. The 6 of us were bitten by mosquitoes and used 8 cans of DEET during our stay. My husband and my bedroom had no glass in one window, so sleeping was uncomfortable. My dad had to take Benadryl every day.
Another downside was the one of the 3 dogs, "little May" barked every night for 2 weeks and kept us awake and growled at my daughter.
We enjoyed our stay overall, however here are a few suggestion: Although we love dogs it was a bit of a shock to have the 3 dogs on the property. They are well behaved... however one barked incisively and it was a bit much after just two days. There should've been a fair warning on their presence prior to driving up the driveway :( our other suggestion ... although George Lee is great at being the overseer of the property....perhaps one really big deep cleaning would give the place a nice look. (cob webs in corners in side and at the front door, insects in traps, appliances not very clean) I've been in Facilities for over 20 years so these are the things I notice right away and a bit of a turn off. The BIGGEST suggestion would be to invest in screens for all of the windows... primarily in the dining room and kitchen. The house is surrounded by fruit trees which makes in impossible not to attract flies and mosquitoes. There are no screens on the window so when sitting at the table to have a meal you are accosted (who wants that? especially since the dogs nature bathroom is just outside of the same window!!!)
On the plus side, the view is amazing and the pool was prefect to relax in the evenings.
Thank you so much George Lee for being so gracious in taking us to the markets, providing us transport with your nephew and Kothy (sp?) who transported us to Rodney Bay
Thank you for accommodating my family and we can't wait to return to St. Lucia
We enjoyed our vacation in st Lucia. Sapphire house was a wonderful place
The views of the house are to die for. The home was a great size with beautiful grounds. George manages the house and makes you feel welcomed from the moment you meet him. He made sure we were comfortable and easily answered any questions we had. There's a beach within close proximity to the house which was nice when we didn't have a car. Can't wait to return to Sapphire House
Divine views, lovely plunge pool
The villa provides plenty of space and pretty views. Ideally located. Aprroximately 30/40 minutes from Soufries. You will need a car ask George for Anya. She is amazing. The owner and his team rate 100. Jim, and George could not do enough to please.
Sapphire House is located just West of Laborie, a local West Indian Fishing village. Although not a tourist location, many holiday activities are within a short drive including wind surfing, kite surfing, snorkeling/diving, catamaran day cruises, hiking and beaches.
Local quality dining nearby.
