About Chad Pitschka
We first visited Tamarino and Casa Aigua on our delayed honeymoon in July 2012. We fell so much in love with the property, the beaches, the town, and the people that we purchased the place from our friends in October.
Chad Pitschka purchased this House in 2012
Why Chad Pitschka chose Tamarindo
I may be bias but this property is absolutely amazing. The family before us completely renovated the property, adding a master bedroom and on-suite bathroom in the main house. The entire property is beautifully maintained, and the location is perfect. We have traveled to Tamarindo more times than we can count since we purchased in 2012, visiting a minimum of 2x per year. We have only rented a car a few times and can gladly provide info on the process. There is really no need for a car with our location unless you appreciate the convenience factor a car provides. Golf carts are readily available for rent now, and can be much easier to get around with. We had our first child in June 2013, and brought him down for the first time when he was only 10 weeks old. Please note this is truly our home away from home.
What makes this House unique

There is an option for daily maid service as well as daily breakfast and lunch prepared for you at our home.
However we request you smoke outside.

Loved Costa Rica!
We had a great time at Casa Aigua. The pool was heaven every afternoon when we got back to the house. Monkeys were a treat to see right on the trees at the house. They showed up every day for about 3 days. We named the resident iguana that was always on the roof, Lola. Loved watching her. The beds were comfy. Air condition was great to have. The master bedroom was awesome. We used all the rooms and apartments on the property with 11 of us staying. The apartments were simple but functional. The large table out on the patio was awesome! There was no hot water in the kitchen but we made due. Chad was great to work with. He had Charlie go buy a BBQ for us as we cooked a lot. Location was perfect. The house is in like a neighborhood. People walking all the time. Felt safe walking to town and the beach. It was about 4 blocks away. There is a grocery store with in walking distance that came in handy. Before we arrived Chad sent a list of favorite restaurants and great info to help us get acquainted with Tamarindo. That was very helpful. Our favorite place was The Waffle Monkey for breakfast! And Patagonia had the best steaks for dnner. You need reservations there. Or pick up some shrimp at the fish market right when you get onto town, next to the cute Catholic church and bbq them at home. The transfer service Chad sets up for you from the airport to Casa Aigua was great! We used them a lot as we had people coming and going during our 4 week stay. It was a trip of a lifetime.
We recently spent 4 nights and 5 days in Tamarindo and stayed at the Casa Aigua. What a beautiful and secure experience. The house had nice bedrooms with individual AC units which was nice. We stayed in the master bedroom. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The walk in shower was nice to have as well.
We did not use the kitchen much but the family room was decorated really nice with comfortable accommodations as well as another AC unit for that room. Could not say enough how comfortable and at home we felt. My wife used the pool more than I did but it was nice to be able to cool off without going down to the beach.
The property was very close to town to the walk to and from was easy. We decided not to rent a car and glad we did not. We also felt very secure while we were there as well even walking back to the property after dark.
We had acquaintances staying in town at the same time and I loved our accommodations compared to the room they stayed in.
We new Charlie was available for us if we needed but we decided to adventure on our own and not burden him. With that said, Charlie was very engaging at a wonderful person to meet.
We choose not to but you can rent scooters and golf carts if you would like, which would make the time getting into town much shorter.
If we were to go to Tamarindo again, I would stay at Casa Aigua in a heartbeat.
Truly Costa Rica
We had 7 people staying here and it was more than enough room with the two other "apartment" type rooms. Chad is a great guy to work with (owner) and Charlie (resident grounds keeper) was very helpful from everything from local tours to near by activities and local recommendations. This is not a resort and should not be expected to be, Chad has a great location (three blocks from town and beach). If your looking to be pampered with luxury accommodations this is not it. The house is very comfortable, we had some issues with the celling fan, and A/C but in all it was a great stay. If you are screamish about bugs or reptiles near and or around you, go to a hotel. The kitchen was a little small for cooking for 7 but Chad had some great ideas for places to eat. The pool is a perfect size for our small party and outdoor porch area was a great spot for an afternoon cocktail poolside.
We were looking for a house to lodge 5 people in at least 3 bedrooms. Casa Aigua looked like the right place for us. It is well located and was clean with plenty of room. The owner was very helpful with information and suggestions leading up to the trip and Charley, the caretaker, was great when we got there. Anything that we needed, he was there to help. Enjoyed his company though he was cautious about not intruding. The bedroom and bathrooms were ample and comfortable and the A/C worked. I think it is a fine alternative to hotels, especially for the younger more active set like our adult children. Having rented through VRBO many times, I would rate Casa Aigua as average. For Costa Rica it probably deserves a "good". The most engaging and wonderful aspect of Costa Rica is the people and in that manner, our trip was excellent. Pura VIta.
Best Rental we have ever had!!!!!
We recently spent 2 weeks at the beautiful Casa Aigua and I have to say that it was one of the best vacations that we have ever been on. The house was perfect for us and our group. It was clean and spacious and better than any hotel we could have stayed at. The town was within walking distance and great for days where we just wanted to relax. Being a bit of a coffee snob, I really enjoyed sitting in local café enjoying some great espresso. We spent the rest of our time scuba diving, surfing, and even had a zip line tour through the rain forest, which my wife had never done before. The water is some of the best in the world for novices and experts, and we had plenty of both in our group. Now she is already asking me when I am going to schedule our next trip. I would highly recommend Costa Rica, and especially Casa Aigua, to anyone looking for a great place to stay and an amazing vacation.
Not so relaxing...
I recently stayed in Casa Aigua for a family vacation. Casa Aigua is a nice house, with nice details, spacious and perfect to spend some days at the beach! It's close from the beach and Tamarindo downtown. However, when we arrived at the house, Charlie, the property manager, didn't have the best attitude, showed us around, didn't explain anything about the house. Meanwhile, we noticed the house wasn't clean, specially the bathrooms and the jacuzzi and pool. You could notice the water of the jacuzzi wasn't change. It's a shame the trees and green areas of the property aren't well maintained, it looks abandoned. Also, the day we arrived Charlie, told us, that there was a problem with the water, but that we shouldn't worry about it, that the next day someone was coming to fix it. However, the last 2 days we didn't have water! and the other days we barely had water, and when we asked Charlie, he just ignored us and wasn't attentive to this big problem. Since we didn't have any water, we left early morning instead of staying till 2pm ( our check out time) because we couldn't do anything without water or clean ourselves if going to the beach. The owners, who were really communicate and really nice to us while talking via email, should pay more attention to their property and the person they choose to put in charge to, because it's a beautiful house that will loose its complete charm if this continues. And Charlie should have a better attitude when receiving his guests and the needs or questions they have.
First thank you for your review and I appreciate your feedback. Heather and I have taken many steps in the last 6 months to try to add to each guest's experience at our home away from home. We have visited the property 6 times in the last year so we are very active home owners. Recently we upgraded the hot water system in the main house to include a 50 gallon solar water heater to provide better water service. Additionally, we added a completely new water pump system and a new pool filter; all in hopes of providing great service to the people who choose to stay in our home.
Unfortunately, the local water provider we have a contract with is unable to provide enough water for our property of late and a new contract with the competing local water company has been added to ensure there will not be a shortage of water in the future.
We will take note of the not optimal cleaning, and work with the cleaning company to provide a better service. In my opinion, Charlie does an excellent job maintaining the property and waters daily to keep our flowers and trees looking lush and beautiful during the dry season. However, with your review we will gladly discuss this topic with Charlie. It was also brought to our attention that you had 22 or 23 guests on the property when our agreement was for far fewer. The property is not intended to accommodate that many people, and I would suppose some of the short falls you mentioned were a result of your group over using the space.
As indicated by your review I am always available to travelers by email and phone and would have appreciated an email from you during your stay so I could have had an attempt to remedy your troubles. We would have gladly had the cleaning service return, since the cleaning they performed the previous day was not adequate. In the past guests have contacted me about items they needed once they arrived and I was able to fix any troubles.
Thanks again for the time you took to review our property and the kind words you did say about our spacious home with a great location in the heart of Tamarindo.
Tamarindo is a quaint surfing town that as all of the amenities at traveler could look for. Our on-site property manager, Charlie, can assist you with any adventure you seek. Heather and I have explored the local estuaries, watch large sea turtles nest, surfed, and explored several local beaches. Ask us anything and we would be happy to help!
