A 2-bedroom cottage with updated bathroom and full kitchen. Sleeps 4-6 comfortably, with one queen-sized bed in one bedroom, two twins in the other and a futon in the living room. Newly remodeled bathroom includes shower only. Fully stocked kitchen includes oven, microwave, full-size refrigerator, but no dishwasher. TV and DVD player in living room/dining area. Window AC, if needed in summer (rarely) and baseboard heat, if needed in fall. Partial view of Lake Michigan from cottage. Step outside to use charcoal grill, fire pit and relax in hammock strung beneath towering cedar trees. Walk across street to Anclam Park and Beach for sunbathing, windsurfing or renting kayaks. Walk into town to check out the marina, where you can charter a fishing boat. Easy walking distance to shops and a handful of restaurants and coffee shops. Off-street parking available directly next to cottage. For a greater variety of shops and restaurants, drive 10-15 minutes to Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Ephraim and Sister Bay on the Green Bay side of the Peninsula. Three 18-hole golf courses and one 9-hole course are within short drives. Door County is great for cycling. The Ridges Nature Sanctuary and the Cana Island Lighthouse are short bike rides from the cottage. Enjoy many cultural attractions on the Peninsula, which include summer theater, a nearby outdoor Shakespeare theater, musical festivals and special concerts and numerous art galleries. Also, use this cottage as a base to explore the natural beauty of Door County, including White Fish Dunes State Park, Peninsula State Park, Cave Point and much more.
My girlfriends and I stayed here for a girls weekend. They cabin was perfect and was a great price. Baileys harbor is definitely the quieter side which we liked. We ate dinner one night at the Coyote Bar down the road and breakfast at a fish restaurant (name?) down the road from the cabin. The fish restaurant was reasonable and perfect for breakfast. We were even able to sit outside and enjoy the water. When I go back, I will definitely be staying at this cabin again.
One downside, we found a blanket with some questionable stuff on it, but that was it.
Loved the location within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shops. The cottage could have been cleaner--had to wipe down counters and appliances.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this cottage during our recent trip to Door County. The cottage was quaint and comfortable with everything we could want or need including a grill and plenty of games for rainy evenings. The location was perfect; very close to the water and within walking distance of a number of good restaurants. Bailey's Harbor was also a prime home base for our adventures around the peninsula throughout the weekend. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone considering it!
My friend of about 45 years and I got away for a quiet and relaxing long Door County weekend, and this place was perfect for us! Just the right size, equipped with everything we needed (I brought my crockpot to make a meal, but other than that...). Plus the price was SO RIGHT--a great value! Money well and wisely spent! We enjoyed being on the Baileys Harbor side of the peninsula yet being able to quickly and easily drive to any other location as needed/desired. I've been going to Door County for quite a few years (her first visit), but I visited and explored places I'd never been to before--thoroughly enjoyed the Cana Island Lighthouse, Cave Point County Park, and the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. My only concern was that the cottage had quite a strong musty/mildew-ish odor to it. We quickly adjusted to it and didn't mind it much; but if you have mildew allergies, I'm guessing it might cause some problems. Bottom-line: we loved our stay!
I went to Door County to participate in a triathlon. We stay in Bailey's Harbor in the Gulls South cabin and it was great. It would have been excellent but there is a few items that could be updated to make the stay a little more enjoyable but really close to excellent. The location is perfect to see all of Door County. The Beach and Park across the street are super. A lot of eating places in walking distance. The back yard with grill was super but the picnic table could use some paint. The house was very clean. The small air conditioner was OK but was a little too small for the house (but it is Door County and not a lot of air was needed). There were a few more bugs running around in the house than expected (maybe a few shots of Home Defense would take care of that). Overall it was very nice and served every need we had.
We did get to talk to the owners who were staying in the cabin next to us for a couple of days while we were there. They were very nice and asked if we needed anything.
Again very very nice place and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great affordable vacation place!!
We loved staying on the "quiet side." The cabin was clean and comfortable. It is a great location so we were able to bike to the Cana Lighthouse and the Ridges as well as the Door Co Brewery, Cornerstone and DC Deli. The helpful hints were great. It would be nice to have some blinds on the windows.
Door County is the 'thumb' of Wisconsin--the sliver of land that juts into Lake Michigan. It is a peninsula rich in maritime and agricultural history--a county dotted with quaint waterfront villages and sprinkled with apple and cherry orchards. It's also a county of rare Midwestern natural beauty, with five state parks, 19 county parks, 11 lighthouses and numerous sandy beaches on Lake Michigan. The landscape includes rolling dairy farms, orchards, thick woods, tall bluffs, steep cliffs and interesting rock formations. The recreational opportunities are many, with the primary ones being boating, fishing, golf, hiking, cycling, windsurfing and swimming. Door County also has a rich cultural tradition, especially during the summer season, with strong summer theater venues, musical festivals and camps, arts and crafts shows, art galleries and more. Baileys Harbor is a small town on the Lake Michigan side of the Peninsula (the Quiet Side), about 63 miles northeast of Green Bay and 18 miles northeast of Sturgeon Bay.
