Oak Tree Cottage is nestled between the historic Village of Sag Harbor and the pristine Hampton's ocean beaches. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, separate dining room with wooded view, nicely furnished living room with a fireplace, full bath (tub with shower), 2 bedrooms (each with a queen size bed), single car garage, patio with gas grill, enclosed outdoor shower (to rinse off ocean salt & sand), and a fenced-in yard for privacy.
My husband grew up in Sag Harbor (when it was still a factory town). After we married, we built a home in the Village, which we lived in for 38 years. Our daughters were born and educated here, graduating from Pierson High School. Upon retiring from my teaching position at Pierson, we decided to move closer to our daughters and so sold the Village house. The move provided the benefit of being near our grandchildren, as well.
Susan Swobodzinski purchased this cottage in 1978
This cottage has been in our family since 1978. My parents built it as a retirement home in the Hamptons. Although the family no longer lives on the East End, we maintain the cottage so our grandchildren can enjoy the same experiences as our own children did. My daughters still always speak of how blessed they were to grow up in Sag Harbor, where every day was an adventure.
The property was selected because of it's private neighborhood and proximity to special amenities. It is 5 minutes to the Village of Sag Harbor, 5 minutes to the ocean, and 8 minutes to the bay beaches.
The house is lovely and was perfect for our young family. It's within a short drive of several local beaches and has a (hot water!) outside shower which was just the thing for de-sanding ourselves...Susan was very responsive and welcoming and I hope we'll be back next year.
My family and I really enjoyed the house and location. It was very clean and well kept.
We loved the quick ride into Sag Harbor and short trip to Mecox Beach in Bridgehampton.
The neighborhood was very quiet and nice as well.
I would highly recommend the house and we hope to stay there again!
My husband and I stayed at the house with a friend of ours 4 nights. The house is very clean and has absolutely everything you need from utensils and pots in the kitchen to beach chairs. The only thing you need to bring with you if you are planning to cook is spices and oil. There is a grill outside but we didn't use it. The beds are comfortable and the linens were all clean. The towels in the bathroom were new and luxurious which we absolutely loved.
The location of the house allows you to go to East Hampton, West Hampton and Southampton for lunch or dinner. There is a very beautiful vineyard (Wolffer Vineyard) 5 minutes away from house. We went there twice. We highly recommend staying at this house.
This cottage gets better and better each stay, as this was our third visit. Always love the peace and quiet, cleanliness, convenience, and attention to detail. Susan and John are amazing, helpful hosts...thank you both. Can't wait for our next trip to Sag Harbor and Oak Tree Cottage. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!
This is our second visit to this house, and we absolutely love it. It's very clean and well maintained place. The house has everything you need for your stay. This house is perfectly located between Bridgehampton and East Hampton, and a very short drive to Sag harbour Main Street. Looking forward to our next stay here
My family and I stayed at this lovely house back in 2013 and I just came across this listing and wanted to share my positive experience. The house is clean and comfortable and very close to Sag Harbor town. It is located on a quiet and peaceful street. I highly recommend staying here.

The cottage is nestled among the oak trees in a rural setting, yet it is a stone's throw to all activities (nightlife), and the magnificent East End beaches.
