About Deborah

While I was living in The Cottage (VRBO 384587) I noticed The Victorian three blocks away was in foreclosure. I love old houses! After seeing the monumental overhaul it needed, saying a few prayers, and talking to family and friends, I bought it...and was instantly overwhelmed!

First project: Put in a huge deck in back--the beautiful views kept me inspired during the long rehab. And now it's all finished and worth every bit of the TLC it required. Hopefully it blesses my guests as well!

Deborah purchased this house in 2007

Great house; great service; not so great neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

First, let me say that the owner and property manager were amazing and attended to our needs quickly and professionally, and it was a pleasure interacting with them. We stayed in this house for a three-day visit to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. Creation Museum is about 20 minutes away, and Ark Encounter is about 50 minutes away. As the person who booked the house, I knew what to expect as far as the neighborhood because I had researched it. However, not all the children and adults had done that and I didn't communicate to them what it would be like. It is an old town with pretty much nothing in it but old homes, but there was nothing dangerous about it. The owner assured us that she had had good relationships with her neighbors when she had lived there and there is virtually zero crime. Just looks a little sketchy, so warn the people who are going with you that they will not be driving into a luxury resort. This house is perfect for a large family or even two or three large families. It is adequate but not luxurious or upscale. There were 10 of us and we could have slept many more in all the beds provided. Plenty of room to stretch out, along with 2 kitchens. Hot water might be an issue if you have people filling all the beds. We had to stagger our showers. If you stay here, plan on either cooking your meals or driving 30 minutes to go out to eat.

Spacious and clean

  • 5 of 5

Two separate spacious living areas make a two family retreat enjoyable and luxurious. The house boasts separate heating and AC units. Overlooking the Ohio river there is plenty to see with the barges and other river traffic. The house is ten minutes away from the Creation Museum and less than an hour from the Ark.

The lovely Victorian home evokes feelings of years ago in another era seemingly on a different planet. But step inside and you have all the modern amenities. Fully equipped kitchens on each floor make for a comfortable and affordable stay.

The trip in and out of Petersburg presents an adventure. Be extremely careful at the last curve going in and watch out for the dump trucks! We could not have had a better stay.

If you can book this house, don't hesitate. You will not be disappointed.

Perfect retreat for Creation Museum & Ark Visitors

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent time at the Victorian Guesthouse. We had a total of 16 people in our party and we had plenty of space. There is a nice view of the river in back with a deck to enjoy the view.

The community of Petersburg is a very quiet and peaceful place; a perfect spot for us to rest between visits to the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. The house is tucked into the back of the community, which also had a nice park for the kids to play in and plenty of scenery to take in (including deer, foxes and other wildlife).

Wanda, the property manager, and Vince, the property maintenance man, were both very kind and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay.

Thank you, Deborah, for providing such a great place for our families to enjoy!

Great home for families to enjoy time together with easy access to Creation Museum, Ark & Aquarium!

  • 4 of 5

The set up was great. We had 6 adults and 10 children 6&under. We all slept well and loved having two kitchen areas! It’s a fun Victoria house but with that you have the wood floors (easily hear kids running and dropping toys upstairs) and loud doors 😂. The view of the river was fabulous, the deck and backyard is all securely blocked and fenced from going down the hill. The kids were able to play and have so much fun. Used the fire pit the last night! Plenty of kitchen supplies for cooking. Great stay!
