About Deborah

While I was living in The Cottage (VRBO 384587) I noticed The Victorian three blocks away was in foreclosure. I love old houses! After seeing the monumental overhaul it needed, saying a few prayers, and talking to family and friends, I bought it...and was instantly overwhelmed!

First project: Put in a huge deck in back--the beautiful views kept me inspired during the long rehab. And now it's all finished and worth every bit of the TLC it required. Hopefully it blesses my guests as well!

Deborah purchased this house in 2007

Guestbook comments from the owner

There was so much room and it was absolutely beautiful there. If we ever go that way again we will be sure to stay there again.

It was wonderful to find such a beautiful place just outside the city. The interior was clean and very functional.

The riverview from the balcony and the sunroom was breath-taking.

Overall, it was very peaceful and serene. I hope to return to this place next year as my family make annual trip to Kentucky.

A total of 9 family members came together in this gorgeous Victorian rental. Normally we end up getting on each other's nerves by day 2 together, but there was plenty of space to allow our own personal getaway while still having a ball together in the downstairs kitchen/family area. There were traditional bedrooms and 3 restrooms - enough for everyone to have personal space while not waiting on anyone to use the facilities. Outside deck was great for family pictures overlooking the Ohio River. My personal favorite was the upstairs second kitchen area with enclosed sunroom! Four of us would quietly wake up, make a small breakfast and enjoy coffee sitting in the sunroom overlooking the beautiful scenery without waking everyone else up downstairs.

We were in a quiet community that had a local country store and were 10 minutes away from restaurants, ski slopes, casinos, and the Creation Museum. Traveling to Cincinnati was a breeze which the whole family enjoyed. There was continuous communication prior to and during our stay making the getaway that much more enjoyable. I can't wait to stay in this incredible home again. Thank you!

Enjoyed by all

  • 5 of 5

The place was perfect for us! We took our youth group to The Creation Museum in the morning and to Perfect North that night. The location of the house was so convenient to both. We had a mixture of boys and girls and adult chaperones. The sleeping arrangements in the house was perfect. We enjoyed the large deck and especially the sun porch with a great view of the river. The kids enjoyed the basketball court and a game of kick ball.

We cooked dinner and breakfast each day and the fully stocked kitchen made it very easy.

The best thing about it for me as a chaperone was that I didn't have to worry about the safety of the kids like I would have in a hotel. We were all together in one place.

I highly recommend the Victorian if you have a youth group or even a family reunion. It was perfect!

Owner's Response: I was an adult chaperone to a youth ski trip once -- and you're right, staying in a hotel was NOT a good idea. Teenage girls were sneaking out to meet boys, and we adults had no idea... Petersburg is such a tiny town, even if kids did sneak out, there's not much trouble they'd find anyway :-)) Thanks so much for coming to stay, and we hope to welcome you again next time you pass our way! Deborah

Great place to stay!

We had an awesome experience in this house! All of our teenage girls and adult ladies really enjoyed their stay and loved the view! The owner was also very personable and provided great customer service. Would recommend to anyone! No complaints!

Owner's Response: We loved having your group -- how amazing your church must be to have a youth group that filled both the General Store AND the Victorian! Separating the boys/men and girls/women in different houses was an excellent idea. Other groups have separated them by upstairs/downstairs, which also works. We very much look forward to welcoming you all again next year!!

Late Family Christmas outing

  • 5 of 5

. Each year we go somewhere with some of our children and grandchildren for Our Christmas and this year we decided we would go to Perfect North peaks. Usually we rent four hotels rooms and try to have our family time scrunched into one room playing games, exchanging gifts, ect. There were 13 of us this year and I have to say we were far from scrunched. There were plenty of beds, bathrooms, towels, everything we needed. I was very impressed that there were large bowls and cooking pans to cook for this large group. Everyone was very impressed with the house, including the grandchildren. I would recommend this house to anyone and would use it again if the opportunity arises.
