This cottage was originally part of the historic Saranac Inn. It has been extensively renovated without losing its Adirondack charm. This two story cottage is approximately 1185 square feet and will comfortably sleep 6. It is nestled among similar Inn properties in the quiet pines of the Back Bay community. It's ideally situated within walking distance of the Saranac Inn Golf and Country Club (one of the premier golf courses in the Adirondacks) and the State boat launch on the north end of Upper Saranac Lake. Although this cottage is not on the water, it does come with a canoe, its own dock space/boat slip, and access to a private beach on beautiful Upper Saranac Lake.
A fifteen minute drive in either direction will take you to the towns of Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, another ten minutes and you can enjoy the rich Olympic tradition that Lake Placid offers. If you are interested in exploring the outdoors, the opportunities to walk, hike, bike or paddle are endless. This cottage allows easy access to all that is 'Adirondack'- a day full of activities or just a quiet walk in the woods.
Sandy & Greg have been long time friends with Richard & Dickie and finally found a place they could share in the Upper Saranac Lake region.
Gary Sheldon purchased this cottage in 2012
We have been vacationing and working in the area for over forty years and are fortunate to own such a nice cabin.
Upper Saranac Lake is a pristine area with beautiful views and great features. Also, the Saranac Inn golf course is directly across the road.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage "Helm3"-- it was just what my family was looking for. The cottage is your classic Adirondack cabin .... really comfortable, casual, charming and rustic (loved the antique stove in the kitchen). Perfect space for our family, nice deck and screened-in porch, fire pit and a wood burning stove for those chilly nights. Plenty of kitchen equipment if you want to cook. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, very peaceful. The only thing you'll hear at night are the loons. It's about a 10 minute walk down to the lake and boat launch. The house has a canoe for your use down at the lake, which was great. Really beautiful spot.
The house location is in between Saranac Lake (about 20 mins) and Tupper Lake (also about 20-25 mins), but there is a little Trading Post store for basics near Fish Creek Pond campground, about 10 minutes away. The owner Gary was very nice , responsive, and everything was really easy to deal with as far as the rental process went. Thanks for everything!
Overall, the place was really great -- loved it. We'd definitely go back if we're ever in the area again.
This classic Adirondack cottage was the perfect "base camp" for our four day hiking adventure. It provided plenty of room for the three of us and we especially enjoyed sitting around the kitchen table in the evening after our hikes. it was an easy drive into Saranac one direction and to Tupper and the Wilde Center the other direction. Having a campfire on our last night there was a real highlight. We highly recommend this delightful place in the woods. Many thanks to Gary for being responsive to our every need.
After selling my grandparents' home of 40 years on Upper Saranac Lake, we've looked for a rental that would allow us to perpetuate our love of the lake and the area. We found it! This cottage is charming, well-maintained, and considerably more spacious than "our" place was. It's close enough to the lake to hear the loons at night, a short walk from the dock and beach area, and the water trampoline was a big plus for our daughter. The cottage comes with a canoe for tenants' use, and we enjoyed paddling around a part of the lake with which we were unfamiliar.
We enjoyed many of the activities that keep us returning to the region year after year: paddling, hiking nearby mountains (stopping for berries along the trail), running and biking around the Fish Creek campsite, and less athletic pursuits including roasting marshmallows by the fire, quietly reading on the screened porch, and making near-daily pilgrimages to Donnelly's for the world's best soft-serve ice cream.
We look forward to returning in future years. Thanks so much!
A lifelong Upper Saranac lover
The cabin was excellent, the pictures do not do the place justice. It is so peaceful and great for the family to relax. Also close to Lake Placid and other attractions around the area. Me and the family will be back to stay again. The owners are also very easy to deal with and very nice.
Very charming place which as kept immaculately and which we enjoyed immensely. Owners are totally respponsive and a plasure to deal with. Tim Flanagan
My husband, three kids (4 and under) and I were the first renters at this quaint cabin. The pictures didn't do it justice. It is really cute, and the high ceilings make it feel so much bigger than it is! It was a cozy little spot tucked away near other cabins in Saranac Inn. We all walked to the waterfront and enjoyed the 4th of July boat parade and water trampoline! There were a few little kinks since we were the first renters, but the owners were VERY fast to respond & react and very attentive to us in general. Everyone in the neighborhood was very friendly, too. I am sure everyone after us had a perfect stay! (assuming it stopped raining so much!). Great location!
