This property was absolutely stunning. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Walking distance to one restaurant close driving to the others. The pool was perfect. We went during the off season but would gladly pay the higher price for peak season. The beds are firm, which stinks if you aren’t used to a firm bed, but that is something you will deal with anywhere. There was some quarks of the house but the property manager was helpful and fixed what they could while we were there. The only thing I would have loved was some small fans downstairs to help with the air circulation. Otherwise we can’t wait to come back. Michael was full of information and a huge help.
Beautiful house No
Great place to relax and enjoy Placencia
The house is very nice, relaxing and the swimming pool is awesome. the location on the beach is superb and it's 20 steps to Maya Bistro where you can hope for a quick bar drink and snack and come back to the pool. we didn't use the beach much because of seaweed. but it was great looking at the ocean. the pool is a bit deep so those with kids, you can use the hottub converted into kiddy pool. the rooms are great. wish each room had a bathroom but the master bedroom is huge. overall, greatly appreciated. Mike was very available when needed. hung out at his bar the singing Sands couple of time and mingled with the staff. Highly relaxing, 20min drive to the village where you wait on the fishermen and get sashimi grade fishes
Beautiful Home but overpriced
My family and I (3 adults and 3 kids) rented this house during peak season which was over Christmas and New Year's. We rented the house for 2 weeks total. The house itself was gorgeous, the pool was beautiful and the water is breathtaking. The property managers (Maya and Michael) are kind and helpful and were available to help with whatever we needed. We did have an enjoyable experience but we feel it is overvalued. I do not agree that this property is worth its peak season prices. This rating is about "value" and we didn't get the "value" for what we paid. First, keep in mind the additional per person fees and the peak season pricing. Additionally, there were some issues with the house that were not advertised up front. The hot tub did not work, the TV upstairs did not work and most of the recorded movies on the downstairs TV did not work. Several appliances broke throughout our stay which was a minor inconvenience because the property managers were always available to help. Please be aware that during peak season, there is a strong likelihood that the beaches will be overrun with sargassum (seaweed) which made it very unpleasant to swim from the beach at the house for 10 days out of 14. The beaches were completely lined with trash making walking up and down the beach very unpleasant. Our days were mostly enjoyable when we left the house to do excursions. Please also be aware that if you are renting a house to save money on food, that is not likely either. The supermarkets in this area do not have the range of ingredients to prepare a family meal. You will likely go out 2 meals a day regardless. The restaurants are excellent in either direction of the house so it only poses an additional financial burden. If you want privacy, please also be aware that the locals will stop by daily to try to sell you something. We weren't concerned about privacy, so we thought it was fun. The locals we met were always extremely kind, respectful and enjoyable to talk to and we had no issue. There was a recent theft in the house prior to our arrival, so it is important to be mindful of keeping doors locked, etc. Our excursions were delightful so I have wonderful things to say about the country.....swam with a sea turtle, caught King Mackerel, gorgeous snorkeling and coral with AMAZING tour guides. So, go to Belize, but pay less money
If you're looking for a relaxing getaway this is an amazing property in a great location.
Three comfortable bedrooms and three baths, the master has an outdoor shower as well. The kitchen has everything you need and there is a grill outside. Pack minimally and don't buy anything until you get to the house. There is a local grocery within a ten minute walk and most people leave things behind i.e. sunblock, bug spray, coffee filters. (I paid 15 bucks for sunblock at the duty free and there was six bottles at the house; lesson learned) There are several restaurants within walking distance as well if you don't feel like cooking. The cab fare to Placencia Village is 20USD or if you can catch the bus it's 1USD and more of an adventure. We planned our trip each morning and usually wound up poolside; however, there is a lot to do if you're interested. I'd recommend the fishing, snorkeling, ruins, and money tour to start. Although I've done plenty of vacations at resorts, this is much better to actually relax and get away from the grind.
Perfect in all the right ways!
Let me begin by saying this property is flawless. The pool, patio, view, kitchen, bedrooms, were amazing.
I would also like to brag on Michael and Maya who manage this property, they were so helpful. From check in, advice on food, communications and generally being great host.
My family which includes an 17 year old and two 22 year olds had a blast and wanted to stay longer.
If you haven't tried Belize and specifically Placencia you are missing out.
