Rustic Building but Mediocre Rooms at Best
The Hotel is beautiful from the outside but once you enter it is mainly run down and confusing to navigate. Our “second floor” room required us to take an elevator up, then stairs back down between four separate hallways. There was no way to get to our room without hauling our luggage up or down stairs. On top of that, the beds were hard and not very clean. I did like that they had a courtesy mobile phone to make local calls and browse the internet, this was the best part of our stay.
Average hotel, good location
The hotel is very close to two tube stations which is great and the room was very clean. The breakfast is very basic with not much choice but good for the price. We found the staff to be quite unprofessional, when we checked in there was no smile or a warm welcome from the reception staff which was off putting and I think it was the manager who as talking to the lady about a problem with another guests room while she was trying to serve us. There was only one pillow each so y partner rang reception for two more, they said they'll bring them up....45 mins later no sign of the pillows so rang down again and they said no problem, they are on their way- pillows never arrived so the next day we went down to reception ourselves and got some. A little disappointing but an OK stay. Oh and the bed was on wheels so every time we moved the bed rolled around and the hairdryer they supplied hadn't been serviced since 2012 and the head of it was slightly melted and the element inside was burning orange when I turned it on...needless to say I used my own!
basic but does the job
Bit concerned after reading some of the reviews but in a really good location 2 minutes from 2 underground stations - Queensway and Bayswater. Richmond Park close by and an amazing Greek restuarant - Halepi ( if you go book it as they were queuing out the door).
Small room but clean with everything needed to have a good nights sleep including air con and ability to open the window. Small Waitrose and other shops locally to top up room comforts - tea bags, milk etc..
Overall room was basic but a good price, hotel well run with polite friendly staff, package included breakfast, bed was comfortable and a good choice for an overnight/weekend stay - any longer and room might become
Close to Hyde Park and tube station
A lovely weekend in London for the Hyde Park Radio Two festival.
Waste of money and extremely disappointed.
Found the check in staff very offhand and cold, Asked for extra pillows three times and finally had to go again and finally got them. The room was located at the far back of the hotel with numerous steps to carry the luggage to. The room was found to be very small with very little space between the end of the bed and a wardrobe (approx. 20 cm.) Had to pass sideways or climb over the bed. The right-hand side of the wardrobe was unable to open more than half. The bed was old, lumpy and very uncomfortable, causing both to arise with back-ache. The decor and paint was outdated and blemished. The bathroom was relatively new but small. The wash-basin was so small that it was virtually impossible to wash without flooding the floor. A small glass shelf (the only storage in the bathroom) was a hindrance. The breakfast was poor quality, not fresh and did not change daily.. We felt that the room was given to us because of being booked through Expedia. This is not the first time we have experienced this type of booking problems. The room photographs shown on the media in no way reflected the room we were given.
