Beautiful trulli

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with our stay at this beautiful trulli in San Marco and received a warm welcome from Francesco who is obviuosly very proud of this special home. The trulli itself is very well equipped with spacious rooms - all very clean and well-looked after. We enjoyed sitting under the wisteria arch or catching the sun on the roof. There is lots to do in the surrounding area; we visited Locorotondo several times and also Martina Franca where we had the best meal of our holiday at Ristorante Torre di Angelucco. We also drove further afield to see the amazing World Heritage town of Matera.

Do use the the village shop and small bar and cafe - both owners were very friendly towards us and our visits there added to the feeling of being part of village life in Italy.

Gorgeous! Relaxing haven in the countryside!

  • 5 of 5

Our great thanks to Marisa & Francesco for sharing their beautiful, perfectly clean trulli house with our family of 4. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this trulli in SanMarco/Locorotondo. It is so lovely! The pictures do not do it justice. It is far nicer than the photographs convey! We started jumping up and down over our good fortune as we were settling in! Marisa & Francesco described the amazing history of this beautifully updated trulli house. They also recommended sightseeing opportunities. And told us how the local outdoor markets worked. I had worried about the March weather beforehand, but arrived to perfect days with sun & 60s F (about 15-20 C) every day. Our teenaged daughter started off most mornings with yoga on the roof deck overlooking the olive groves and nearby country church. We could see & hear the bell ringing from our vantage point on the roof. We spent 4 days in Rome and then 4 days here. Although Rome had its wonders such as the Vatican and Colosseum, we all agreed we loved Apulia far more: the authenticity of the people & the food, and the beautiful calming countryside. Marissa & Francesco supplied us with soft, fluffy towels and sheets. The scent of the towels and sheets was wonderful and made sliding under the covers such a pleasure. I enjoyed staring up at the winding stones of our trulli at bedtime. We used the little private patio area outside the master bedroom to hang laundry to dry & it gained that lovely fresh airy scent as well. We frequented the market & coffee bar in the village where everyone was kind and helpful. We only cooked a few times but it was fabulous to have easy access to fresh bread, pasta, cheeses and delicious local butter. So, whatever meals we did cook were automatically better than usual. Finally we took Francesco's recommendation to order Antipasto Misti at a Locorotondo restaurant. The server delivered 13 different plates of food, which were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Gratzie Francesco! It was extremely tempting to relax constantly and sleep in here, but be sure to visit the Adriatic Sea for its beauty and the local seafood. We found that a three-pronged adapter is perfect for this trulli. You will not go wrong choosing to stay here! It would be a dream for us to one day return!

Excellent trulli experience

  • 5 of 5

Marisa and Francesca were awaiting our arrival and they took time to explain everything about the truilli, the village etc, etc.

The trulli is spacious, very clean and well equipped. We were a group of 5 adults and we all fitted in comfortably. We appreciated the central heating at that time of year.

The village of San Marco is very friendly, especially the people at the alimentari.

The area is a fascinating one to explore. We did lots of exploring in the neighborhood towns and we also went to the grottos (well worth the experience).

The wisteria was almost out and I kept saying we can't leave until we see it in flower. The countryside was so green and everything bursting into leaf. It was hard to leave our wonderful trulli and before we departed we went to the alimentari to thank everyone for being so kind to us.

Thank you Marisa and Francesco for sharing your special property with us.

Outstanding rental

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent the month of March, 2012 in this beautifully renovated trullo in San Marco. We have rented properties all over the U.S. and Europe and this was by far the best-appointed property and best value we have ever had. Marisa and Francesco were wonderful to deal with. The night we arrived - late - they had a small meal waiting for us and a glass of wine. They couldn't do enough. It was spotlessly clean inside and outside.

The trullo is located in a small, quaint town that is centrally located to all of the major sites. There's a small, but well-equipped, grocery store in town and there are markets every day within a 20 mile radius of the village. (The Martina Franca and Ostuni markets are the largest, but Locorotondo's is also excellent.) We spent many afternoons walking the footpaths along the Adriatic Coast between Monopoli and Brandisi. Spectacular coastline. We also enjoyed the ruins at Egnazia and the Castellenata Grotto.

This property is ideal for a couple or a family. Might be awkward for two couples because there is only one bathroom and it is downstairs from the second bedroom. It could be managed, though.

I highly recommend this property. Marisa and Francesco are very special people and so is their trullo.

Nice trulli house in Apulia

  • 5 of 5

We spent Christmas and New Year in beautiful and cosy trulli house of Marisa and Francesco. On arrival on 22.12.2011 the house was cold but already next day it was warm and functional. We loved to sit in evenings by the fireplace and during some sunny days we could use the outside barbeque and have lunch outside on the terasse. The house is very nicely decorated and pleasant to stay. The village of San Marco was a living village also in wintertime and there are lots of nice villages in the neighborhood - Albarello, Ostoni, Cisterno, Lecce, Martina Franca and of course Locorotondo.

We fell in love with this house and the Apulia region with trulli houses. We certainly recommend this place and would like to come back.
