Happy stay in Camden

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a very happy stay in this home in Camden. There is sufficient space to spread out and we made great use of Regent's Park as we had fabulous weather. The only reason I have knocked off a star is that it was so hot. Londoners don't use air conditioners so when the temperature goes go up there is no escape. I understand that this is normal in London and not unique to this home. The property owner is a very charming lady and helped us with a portable air-conditioner when the temperature went over 30 for a few days. We would have preferred a slightly larger kitchen but then we did not visit London to sit at home and cook so it is not a deal breaker. Mostly we were enjoyed our stay and can recommend.

Where do I begin?

  • 2 of 5

PLEASE change the photos to match what the flat actually looks like. It looks NOTHING like the outdated pictures shown here. It is VERY misleading!! The pictures were the reason why we rented this flat! Once inside, there was even a wall missing!!! The couches are old, brown and worn down, there are no frying pans or spatulas to cook with. Dirty windows, walls and floors. To top it off, the second night we were there, the whole upstairs blew a fuse!! It was quickly fixed by my husband luckily, not worth complaining about. Ant infestation downstairs where lower bathroom is located. Major water stains on walls. I have taken pictures of every inch of this flat and I have video to prove it all. It has so much potential to be a great space, if the effort was put into it. The location was amazing though. Even though there was a pub across the street, it was quite by 11pm. The owners of the flat were super nice and I did point out a few things that could be improved for future residents that I hope they fix. I really wouldn't recommend this flat unless it was completely redone.

Owner's Response: We are sorry to hear you were not happy with TPL, the majority of tenants rate us highly. You are right, the configuration of the ground floor is slightly different but we feel much improved, the lounge is now combined with the hall and we have brought the kitchen down from the mezzanine. The original pix showed two red Ikea sofas, which whilst very pretty did not stand up to being slept on by past tenants and were replaced by more servicable brown leather sofas. New photographs will be uploaded soon. We have no idea why a fuse blew upstairs unless the circuit was overloaded in some way but will certainly check out - you did mention the boiler was noisy one night and our plumber checked the next day and found nothing wrong. I'm afraid the ants were a local phenomina (we had them too) and seemed to be a seven-day wonder swarming that week, there is now no sign of them. The house is due for our 6-monthly decoration next month but we will to bring forward following your remarks.

Great time in Camden

  • 5 of 5

This flat is on such a quiet street and still you have all of Camden a few minutes away - perfect combination! We enjoyed our time living here - there is enough space for people to find privacy when you need it and it was fun to stay in a flat that was a little different. So much to do and see locally, you have everything you need here but its easy to get to the Oxford Street/Piccadilly area from here too. I can recommend this rental flat on behalf of my group.

Interesting and comfortable flat.

  • 4 of 5

This is an interesting flat with it's own unique charm and we were all happy and comfortable here during our stay in London. Having two bathrooms was great! Camden we know quite well from previous visits and it's a fun area to spend time in - always something going on here, and not just connected to the markets. We enjoyed walking around and found some nice restaurants and cafes. Thank you to everybody at the agency for a successful trip with no problems.

Great flat, nice to stay in something a little unusual.

  • 4 of 5

Me and my friends had a great time here and we are happy to recommend it. It's an original kind of flat with lots of rooms and space to spread out in, which is good when you are a group of people living together. Camden is always alive and entertaining and you discover something new every time you go. Lots of great pubs and places to eat and easy to get around from here. Cheers to all for a great time.

Location

Car: not necessary

Cool Camden. Home to everything that is alternate and happening. Noisy, grungy and always interesting, you could never be bored or un-enthused in Camden Town!

Home to the world famous Market with it’s vintage clothing, crafts and original little shops selling almost everything, it would seem, but many leaning towards clothing and music in one way or the other. Here you will find a live music scene that is envied by all, plus enough bars, clubs, music-venues, funky eateries and street food to keep even the most picky tourist fascinated and intrigued for the entire length of their stay!

The canals add a little bit of calm and serenity in an otherwise bustling and busy market atmosphere. They are very pleasant to sit beside with a drink in the summer, to walk by, or just to watch people cycling and walking their dogs. There is always a great duality here with young people hanging out and strumming a guitar with not a care in the world, and those milling around the markets, eager to find that one original gift for someone back home. You’re spoiled for choice for the weird, the unusual and the never-seen-before, as far as goods for sale go. The markets themselves are actually divided up into about six areas, each specialising in one thing or another. One sells only Goth style clothing, for example.

Keep walking further along from here and you will find Regent’s Park, home to the London Zoo, open-air events and boating, amongst others. Check out the Park’s and the Zoo’s wonderful website to see all the attractions that they offer and for news of new and upcoming exhibits. There truly is so much to see and do here besides visiting the Reptile House or just lazing on a grassy bank. The London Zoo is a world-class one that inspires and impresses.

If you’re still strolling, or bus-hopping (which is always fun) you should have reached Oxford or Regent Street by now. So close to Camden, and so easy to get to from there. What a great and fascinating central London area.
