We rented this house for a family wedding last week end. There were four adults and one child in our party and we were very comfortable in this house. It was stocked with every thing we could have needed . . . paper products, soaps for the bath, dishes, dishwasher
and washing machine. We did not do any cooking but there were plenty of pots, pans and
dishes had we needed them. We were disappointed that we could not park near the beach and 1 mile was a bit far for us to walk as we had a 3 year old with us but that
was not the fault of the house. I would highly recommend this house to rent.
We were fortunate enough to rent this charming cottage. We arrived, not knowing what to expect, and were pleasantly surprised beyond our expectations. (The photos do not do it justice). The house is nestled in a wooded area, with lush foliage and wildflowers, and deer abound. The deer seemed quite tame and unafraid, even as we approached them only a few feet away. The interior of the cottage is quite dramatic with an open floor plan, high angled ceiling, and loft space with a twin bed in it. The interior is immaculate, light-filled, and painted in soothing colors. The house is a 10-15 minute stroll to the beach....an enjoyable walk with curving lanes (no sidewalks), charming homes, and woodland. As well as deer and wild turkey!
The beach itself is quiet, landscaped with natural grasses and dunes, and comprised of very soft sand (slightly pebbly as you enter and exit the water but not a serious deterrent). It seems many local residents ride their bikes to the beach, bring chairs and umbrellas, and then stake their place in the sand. It's clear they feel comfortable enough to leave their belongings there as they come and go all day long.
Even though we had considered that Michiana Shores might be a bit isolated and/or boring, we have learned there are plenty of things to do in this area. In season, there is blueberry and apple picking; horseback riding; a water slide; wineries; antiquing; pizza at Stop 50 (great pizza / popular spot); Jackie's Cafe for breakfast and lunch (Jackie was a well known Chicago chef and a recent transplant to this area); Al's Market (good pre-made burgers); and the nearby towns of New Buffalo (10 minutes by car); and South Haven (just under an hour away). Having overnighted in this area for years, we feel Michiana Shores and this particular cottage represent a great opportunity. Michiana Shores itself is still small enough to be quaint and "real", but near enough to activities and restaurants to be enjoyable. Plus, the owners were a dream to work with.
Go....stay at Dreamwold Cottage and don't hesitate!
Lovely home for enjoying Lake Michigan, nature and family fun. We enjoyed our week relaxing in a charming, comfortable, clean cottage with a screened in porch that can't be beat! A short walk to the lake, great bike riding and fantastic pizza a few blocks away. Hope to return again in the Fall to see the leaves change .
House was great for my family . 2 adults and a few kids. Great seclusion, beautiful family areas, great access to beach with our bikes, scooters, skateboards , walk... but you felt in the woods. We had fun and would stay again due to ease of dealing with owners.
Thanks for having us!!!!!!
We had a great time winding down at the Dreamwold Cottage. The weather was great, we enjoyed all the resturants in the area and spent time shopping, hiking and relaxing at the beautiful home. The home was clean, well maintained, in a beautiful setting, casual and comfortable. The surroundings were serene and we were able to enjoy nature from the screened in proch and deck. Several unseasonably warm days, we strolled to the lake and enjoyed walking along the shore. Plan to return again...thanks for a wonderful week!
