Welcome! This is an old house that has been remodeled in the downtown area, very close to Parque de Santiago. The kitchen, living room and dining room as well as two out of the three bedrooms have the region's traditional high ceilings with exposed beams. All the bedrooms can be accessed through the exterior garden and or terraces, which makes them very private.
The first room has two double beds and its own full bathroom with the original pasta tiles. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, garden view, a walk-in closet, double sink and a private bathroom. The third room is a new addition to the original house and the closest to the pool! It has two twin beds and a full bathroom as well. All three bedrooms have A/C and Blackout curtains
The kitchen is fully equipped and has a breakfast bar. There are ceiling fans throughout the house. The dining room has a beautiful view of the garden, the water lily, the pool, the lounge chairs and the wall fountain. The living room is very comfortable and well lit by a skylight. The pool has its own full bathroom and an outdoor shower as well.
Perfect for relaxation in a traditional neighborhood downtown, close to churches, cultural events, restaurants, cafés, medical services and markets.
Bienvenidos!
I was born in Mérida and lived here until the travel bug got to me. I am back in the city after having lived, studied and worked in several places, mostly in beautiful Nova Scotia. I enjoy traveling and studying and like having friends visit me and show them around this beautiful state
My family and I have been familiar with this house for years, as the previous owner was friends with my grandmother (Merida still has that small town charm, no matter how much it grows). My family has owned it for some years now and we decided recently to remodel it and invite others to enjoy it as much as we do.
My favourite thing about the house has to be the high ceilings and arches. I also love the two yellow birds that visit us often and may occasionally knock on the bedroom door.
We were a group of four adults who spent five nights here while attending a family wedding in Merida. The house is really elegant and in superb condition. It has been thoughtfully and imaginatively restored, with great attention to detail. It offered everything we needed and a delightful, spacious environment to relax in. The bedrooms are all beautiful and comfortable, with excellent bathing facilities. The swimming pool is lovely too. Karla and her sister were very helpful with arrangements and advice. And we liked the district, which is quiet, pretty and within easy walking distance of good shops and restaurants. All in all, highly recommended!
The house is a 15min walk from the main Plaza and the cathedral, 5 min away from Santiago. You can't miss Tuesdays in Santiago, where people gather to dance to live music. This park is also said to be the origin of the famous marquesita, a traditional dessert from Yucatán. Santiago is filled with charming cafés , bakeries and food vendors. Walk 15 min to reach Santa Lucía, where the city hosts its traditional Jarana every Thursday.
It's a 20min walk from the house to Paseo de Montejo. Walk the other way and find the Slowfood farmer's market on Saturdays.
