As a last minute decision to get away for my birthday we decided to visit Cuyahoga National Park. Michelle's property was the perfect location! Short drive to hiking trails and kayaking. My daughter was interested in visiting Kent State campus which is a VERY short drive or even walking distance. You can also walk to all the restaurants and shops in downtown Kent. Michelle was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kent!
Sweet older home!
The house was comfortable and exactly as depicted in the listing. The beds were good, and we had everything we needed. Thanks, Michelle!
Pride of ownership in this beautifully renovated 1900 historic property. All the class and charm of a boutique hotel. Every small detail and decor and amenities were thought of. The location was amazing. For people seeking historic hotels of America this is a must. The only critique I would make, is in the family room there is seating for only about three people. I stayed with only one person and it was very comfortable. The place could easily sleep 5 so having seating in the living room for a family would be an improvement. Michelle the host was amazing. She even went and got coffee for us. The sheets were crisp and the towels were fluffy and we really enjoyed our stay.
This is a beautiful, clean, quiet house. Kitchen is well equipped, bathrooms were spotless, very nice stay.
Wonderful stay in Kent!!!
We found the house to have a warm welcome, spacious rooms, nicely decorated, very clean and loved the "squeaky floors" which brought back the memories of the house we grew up in. Although we did not do much in the Kent area, we found it to be a very interesting area with a lot of activities available. Since we are all into crafts of some sort, we stumbled upon Christmas in the Woods in Columbiana, OH - it was fantastic! If looking for an awesome place to eat, we went to Garrett's Mill & Brewing Company in Garrettsville, OH - food is scrumptious, service was great and highly recommend it for future travelers. Overall, our stay in Kent was super!!!!
Water recreation available at the nearby livery. You can canoe, kyak or tube down the Cuyahoga river.
Franklin Mills Riveredge Park: Go for a walk and view the waterfall. Just a short walk from the home are walking trails and a park with a waterfall.
Dan Smith Community Park: Another short walk away is a little pocket park in the downtown district that has a fun train and slide for kids and some games for the family.
Acorn Alley: Just a few blocks from home is a fun shopping spot with a toys store, stationery gift shop, cheese shop, popcorn and ice cream shop and more.
Kent State: You can walk to Kent state (about a 1/2 mile away to the entrance).
My husband and I live and work in Kent. We love our downtown with lots of great things to do. FOOD: Bent Tree Coffee (just 2 doors down the street) is a small batch artisan coffee roaster, a must stop for morning (or afternoon) coffee. The Franklin Bar and Grill has amazing cocktails and food. Treno is a beautiful Italian restaurant that recently opened in a historic train depot on Franklin Ave. Their food is fantastic!! Pacific East Kent, Bricco Kent, Troy Grill, and Fresco are some of our favorite restaurants all in easy walking distance. SHOPPING: Some great independently owned shops including McKay Bricker framing and gift shop, Off the Wagon a quirky novelty toy, game and gift shop, Red Letter Days is a shop for the creative type, Carnaby Street and Fig Leaf are nice women's boutique clothing shops, Kent Cheesemonger is a wonderful Artisan Cheese shop and a wine store. POPPED... the BEST popcorn and ice cream (homemade). The Works has beautiful gifts. All again are in easy walking distance.
Michelle purchased this House in 2017
Why Michelle chose Kent
Single home built in 1905, featuring beautiful woodwork throughout. The dining room has beautiful wood pocket doors as does the entry to the staircase. The home was updated in 2017/2018 with a new kitchen and updates throughout the home.
What makes this House unique
The home is on the edge of the downtown district, making it mostly quiet. It is an easy walk, a few blocks to all that downtown Kent has to offer.
