Property was wonderful and just as advertised. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking at the wonderful view of the bay.
The town of Blue Hill is close and offers restaurants, shopping and grocery that are very good. When we had a problem with one of the TV's the property manager was easy to reach and took care of it promptly. Karen was easy to reach by email when we had questions and responded promptly. Twin Chimneys is a "home run" that I hope we can visit again.
So glad you enjoyed Twin Chimneys! Our part of Maine is a wonderful place to live and vacation, and we're happy to share it! Thanks for visiting, and hope to see you again in future.
Great ocean front property.
Wonderful time in Blue Hill! Great views in a quiet and private family compound. . House was very comfortable and well equipped. Will definitely return!
We're so glad you enjoyed your time at Twin Chimneys. Come enjoy our Maine Vacationland again!
WOW to Blue Hill, Maine!
Our stay at your beautiful seaside home was outstanding! The gravel drive to the home was like driving into a national park - with stately white pines, maples in color, and forest floor carpeted in green moss and strewn with agent boulders. The absolutely beautiful home was clean, welcoming, with huge seaside windows, and a well-equipped kitchen, and was a perfect lay-out for 3 couples. The grounds was clean and manicured and quiet - hardly a glimpse of neighboring properties. All 6 of us had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this VRBO home. We would love to visit again! Thank you for sharing the Maine experience with us Minnesotans!
We're so glad we could share the house with you at this beautiful time of year in this part of Maine. We would love for you to visit again!
Twin Chimneys provided the perfect home away from home for our trip this year in Blue Hill.
Twin Chimneys met all of our expectations and provided the perfect setting with its wooded location and beautiful shoreline at the foot of the lawn. The interior is very well maintained and perfect for entertaining our guests.
We're so glad you enjoyed your time at Twin Chimneys and that you were able to share it with friends! We hope you will find your way back to this part of Maine again soon.
Serene and picturesque location
The house is spacious, tidy and has lots of windows to take in the view. The kitchen is very well stocked with crockery/utensils. We had some issues with cooking on the stove as it doesn't have the best vent but it wasn't a major issue in the end as we used the outside grill which works just fine.We loved the deck with its view of the bay and the house's location was excellent with good local dining options, groceries, kayaking, and a picturesque swimming cove we learned about from friendly locals. Karen and the caretaker were very helpful and attentive to our needs. We would stay there again.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and found the house well-stocked. We would be glad to have you stay again!
Gorgeous Views, Gorgeous House
Our extended family traveled from Richmond, VA, Washington DC, and Atlanta, GA to visit Maine for the first time for all of us. We all agreed we couldn't have chosen a more perfect spot! The views were always beautiful and ever changing- the whites of the misty night, the pale blues of the early morning, the vibrant blues of the sunny daytime, and the pinks and grays of the gorgeous sunset. The house was sunny and spacious complete with a well-stocked kitchen, games galore, and a linen closet to die for. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are less than an hour away to the north and the picturesque towns of Belfast and Castine are close to the south. Blue Hill is a quaint Maine town with a huge grocery store, gift shops, galleries and of course a lobster shack. If we go to Maine again, Twin Chimneys will be the place we'll stay!
We're so glad you enjoyed your first trip to Maine - and Twin Chimneys! We're glad we could share both with you.
The charming scenic village of Blue Hill is just two miles away from this wonderful home, located on a private lane, nestled among the pines, with a panoramic view of Blue Hill Bay, and your own piece of the rocky shoreline. You can enjoy the beach, watch the sailboats and and lobster boats go by, curl up with a book on the deck, or enjoy the sparkling stars in the night sky. The lawn is a great spot for a good game of Frisbee.
The village is 35 miles from Bangor International Airport or Trenton Airport, an hour drive from all the attractions of Acadia National Park, and close to the neighboring villages of the Blue Hill peninsula, including Castine, Brooklin and Deer Isle, each with their own history and activities. The village of Blue Hill offers a variety of restaurants from fine cuisine to a favorite lobster and clam shack. All the amenities you need can be found in the village- a grocery story, food co-op for organic items, a farmer's market in summer and fall, wine store, banks, an award-winning library, art galleries, churches, post office, Kneisel Hall Summer Music Festival, Marine Environmental Research Institute programs and cruises, steel drum outdoor concerts, and hiking up Blue Hill mountain.
Launch your kayak and paddle around the coves of the bay, greeting seals. The reversing falls in South Blue Hill are famous and worth a look - or a kayak ride if you dare. Take a bike ride along the small winding roads. The famous Wooden Boat school in Brooklin offers courses in sailing and boat-building. Antique shops and galleries can be found all over the peninsula. Blue Hill Heritage Trust offers well maintained and beautiful hiking and walking trails all over the peninsula. There is always something to do in any season!
The house offers an open living plan on the first floor. The light filled living area features two-story windows. There will be room for the whole family to sit in front of the fire, play board games, and gather around the dining table. There are doors to the deck from the living area, where there are chairs and table awaiting you for an al fresco meal. The dining table seats eight.
The kitchen is fully equipped, with two pantries and an electric stove. Another small deck (with a gas grill) adjoins the kitchen. A half bath and laundry room with stacked washer and dryer are on this floor. The master bedroom suite with new king-sized bed, two large closets, television with DVD player, and full bath adjoin the living area, and has a spectacular view of the ocean.
The second floor features a loggia overlooking the living room. There are three additional bedrooms on this level, each with large closets, and two full baths. Two of the bedrooms feature queen-sized beds, one with a view of the ocean. There is also a bedroom with two twin beds and view of the ocean.
The house has central heating for chilly days and evenings. The house does not have air conditioning, but you will have sea breezes and fans in every room. The average summer high temperatures are in the 70's.
All linens are provided.
Twin Chimneys offers it all- a romantic spot for two, a great family vacation, or a quiet getaway from your busy schedule.
