This property is nestled in the Eagle River Valley with stunning views of the Chugach Mountains. Look at the mountains as you enjoy your morning coffee from the kitchen table, or step out onto the spacious deck to enjoy the sounds of the birds or watch the wildlife. A fire pit off the front patio opens to a large yard for kids to play. Three bedrooms (plus a futon downstairs) and two baths make it perfect for families looking to enjoy the wonders that an Alaskan summer has to offer. A short 6 mile drive down the mountain takes you to Eagle River where you can find groceries, dining, and shopping, or you can continue about 10 miles down the Glenn highway to find yourself in the middle of beautiful downtown Anchorage. This property is ideal if you are in Alaska to visit family or friends.
Our family grew up in this home, enjoying a life in the woods while still being close to town. We moved to Alaska about 15 years ago, and found that Eagle River was a nice place to settle and raise our young children.
Allison Erickson purchased this house in 2001
We love to enjoy the outdoors, whether that be skiing, hiking, or just going for quiet walks in the woods. This place offers the chance to enjoy all of this while still being close to home. This property makes us feel like the backcountry is right out the back door, but still close to employment, school, and city amenities.
This house is perfect as a base to launch day-long hiking trips, whether you want to explore in the Eagle River Valley or venture out to the various trails in the Anchorage bowl. However, the views from the front deck, the patio, or just out the windows are enough to make you want to stay 'at home' and relax.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The scenery was beautiful as well as the home. Very comfortable and owners were wonderful to correspond with. Made our family stay in Alaska very enjoyable. Was great having an "extra" space for the rest of our family since our son and daughter-in-law live in Eagle River. Very quiet neighborhood and picturesque. Loved the beautiful, winding road leading to the property. Wonderful!
We were thrilled to have been able to book this beautiful home for our family vacation. It was a perfect location to have my family from Anchorage come out and enjoy family time with us. There were 6 of us staying in the house and there was plenty of room for all of us to enjoy our own space. The gorgeous deck and comfy table and chairs allowed for quiet peaceful mornings to enjoy the beauty of nature. The waterfall was a must see!!! If we have the opportunity to go back to Alaska again we would not stay anywhere else!!! The owner was extremely helpful in answering our questions and everything we could possibly need besides food for meals was available at the house including laundry detergent, and dishwasher detergent!! Thank you so very much for allowing us the use of your lovely home!!
What a great experience we had in Alaska!!! Enjoyed the house very much, both the kids had their own rooms (huge plus for a teenager and pre-teen), we felt right at home! We woke up every morning to the wonderful awe of the mountains out the front window. The house was very clean, and Allison was wonderful to talk to, she responded right away to any questions I had, and for my first VRBO experience it was a 100% success!!! We enjoyed our own privacy, loved the winding mountain drive up to the house, mama and 2 baby moose came to visit in the driveway one evening, what a treat that was. Short drive to visit our family in Eagle River, even visited Anchorage quite a bit and walked the little shops downtown. I highly recommend this VRBO house for anyone looking for a "home away from home" experience, we couldn't have been happier, thanks Alaska for the lifetime of memories. Thanks Allison for all your help!!
We stayed here in June 2014. The home owner, Allison, was very pleasant to work with and quick to answer any questions that we had. The rental process went very smoothly. I felt that the price was excellent for the size of the house and location to town.
The location couldn't be beat. We were far enough out of town with awesome mountain views. We felt like we were really "living in Alaska" for those 5 days. We were only 10 minutes from the town of Eagle River. To be honest, it had the prettiest Walmart I've ever seen. We tried several of the restaurants that the UrbanSpoon app recommended and were pleased with them all. We found everything that we needed in Eagle River. When we did decide to go into Anchorage for touring, it was a really easy, quick 25 minute drive.
My boys, ages 9 and 11, enjoyed the play station. We rented a couple of games from the local Redbox for the late afternoons when we wanted to relax at the house after a day of hikes and tours. They also enjoyed the Legos.
All amenities were here. We only had to bring groceries. We spent wonderful mornings drinking coffee at the table enjoying the mountain views. The neighborhood is quiet. We also weren't stacked on top of other houses.
I thoroughly recommend this house. We felt very comfortable here with our boys. They were able to play outside which was so nice. The house is the perfect distance out of town, you would never think that you were less than 10 minutes to the city of Eagle River. Even the drive back into Anchorage was pleasant and quick.
Thank you again, Allison, for your home!
My family and I had a fantastic stay at this beautiful home in a wonderful neighborhood situated in the hills of Eagle River.
My experience with VRBO & the owner, Allison, could not have been better. It was my first time using VRBO and it was very user-friendly. Allison was very accommodating and responsive to our needs/questions, either via email or phone.
We were looking for a home to accommodate 5 family members for a family function to take place in Eagle River/Anchorage. My sister lives in Eagle River so she took it upon herself to view the house/location before we booked it. She told us it would be perfect so we rented the home for one week.
Eagle River Loop Rd is the exit you take from Glenn Hwy, then a turn onto a beautiful winding road up the mountain to the home situated in a quiet, well-maintained neighborhood. There is plenty of privacy with a spectacular view of the mountains from the spacious balcony. The home has everything you may need for a comfortable stay & it could accommodate up to 8 people. On Eagle River Loop Rd is a Wal-Mart & one exit North is the town of Eagle River, where you can fine Carrs, Fred Meyers, Starbucks, Gas stations, Piccolino's (a good greek/italian restaurant) & more.
Also located from the home is a easy walk/hike to a trail leading you to the beautiful South Fork Eagle River Falls.
Thanks again Allison for making our stay in your home a FANTASTIC ONE!

We have a family of four who just returned from Alaska. This house was a PERFECT home base for all of our activities. It's off the beaten path a bit, which was nice. My absolute favorite part of the house was the deck. It was dreamy to sit outside drinking coffee surrounded by the beautiful landscape. The house was clean, the owners were wonderful to work with, and we had more than enough room for our family of four. It was great to have a washer/dryer on site. Overall, it was just a really great stay! Highly recommend.
