Come on in and leave your worries behind because you will feel relaxed as soon as you enter. The house has over 40 windows for plenty of natural light and shades if your not ready for the sunshine yet. Upstairs, enjoy a glass of wine on the patio or go inside where you won't find any drywall, only tons of heart pine with a lil oak and driftwood here and there, and take a jacuzzi bath in the upstairs bathroom. There are 10ft ceilings and 2 fireplaces upstairs with a full kitchen, formal dining room ,formal living room, formal entry room and 2 sitting areas with great views. This house has tons of antiques along with a lot of my own personal touches. I have a Landline, Wireless and Satellite TV (just in case you still want to stay in touch with the rest of the world) also books, DVDS and boardgames if you have any free time upstairs. As you go down the original inside staircase you will find the master bedroom which has 2 fireplaces and the 2nd spacious bedroom and bathroom and a sitting/sun room. I have front loader Bosch washer and dryer just in case you feel like keeping up with dirty laundry while in town? And of course I am an animal lover!! So please feel free to bring your furry family members too!! Lets just try to make them mind their manners ;) There is a huge fenced in back yard with a gas BBQ grill, picnic table and extra chairs. Should there be a cool night or two, I also have a burn pit for the perfect s'mores. The property is settled on a charming corner lot with plenty of room for parking, just don't hit one of the pecan trees and take care when your around the magnolia tree. It came in a coffee-can from Birmingham AL, compliments of my 4th grade teacher that taught me at St.Marys Elementary School which is right up the road. The house is located in the historic district and is within walking distance to the waterfront area which is where the ferry is located for Cumberland along with shopping restaurants and bars. I generally have a few bikes and fishing rods laying around the house but I can't guarantee one of my neighbors or friends didn't barrow them so please feel free to bring your own. The house is fully equipped so just bring some clothes and a toothbrush and your ready to go:D

We very much enjoyed our stay at Oliver House. It is a project in progress, but what has been updated is wonderful. A fully equipped kitchen and a new washer and dryer added to the ease of our stay.
Downtown St Marys is a great little place to shop and just walk around. The nine-year-old with us really enjoyed the water park in town! And St Marys is very close to so many other fun places to visit.
We really wish there had been some information on the history of the house though. It would be very interesting to read about the changes made through the years.
There are many light switches in the house- unfortunately, you can't always tell what is being turned on or off.. a few more labels, please.
If renting here, remember you are by a marsh and might need insect repellent. Sitting on the porch upstairs is awesome but invites the little critters to visit you- spray first!
Overall, we had a great time here and will definitely visit again.
Charming house with lots of character!
The Oliver House is charming, relaxing and well stocked for any stay. The quiet little town was just the get away we were looking for!
Very cute, eclectic beach-type house.
It worked very well for us during a short visit that included outings to Cumberland Island and the Okefenokee Swamp. It is well situated for exploring St Mary’s on foot or by bike. If you’re there with others staying elsewhere , it’s a great house to entertain.
Wonderful and fun decor! Very comfy with everything you need. Owner very responsive to questions.
Don't be afraid to consider this "downtown" location thinking it will be noisy and congested!! Not at all!! Very quiet, peaceful, convenient location. Great scenic and historical area to walk.
Eclectic Beach Cottage
We enjoyed our stay at the Oliver House! You take a step back in time when you enter the doors and find yourself wondering what these walls have seen! The decor was eclectic and we discovered something new every day. The location was perfect for us. Loved this small town situated perfectly between lots of tourist locations such as Jekyll Island, Amelia Island, and St. Augustine. Easy access to Jacksonville airport.
Our evenings were filled with playing cards or watching one of the many DVD's available to us. When the weather was nice we enjoyed a bike ride around town and just sitting by the fire!
The Oliver House was very interesting and unique. The furnishings were so interesting. I am sure everything had a story behind it being there. Our dog loved the back yard. We would love to come and stay here . Cumberland Island is very interesting. I would recommend reading the history before you go and make ferry reservations months in advance!
I grew up in this small fishing hole town and always had a blast without anything but my ole beach cruiser. You can take a ride around town, go either way out of the driveway and your sure to end up at a boat ramp just in time for a lil fishing or shrimping. If that doesn't float your boat you can always jump on Langs Ferry and pop over to Cumberland Island for the day. Make all of your phone calls before you arrive on the island because you probably won't get the greatest service. It is truly like stepping back in time over there. You won't find any paved roads but you will find ruins of mansions, intact mansions, wild horses, turkey, hogs and deer (keep a special eye out for the white deer) to name a few. As your walking down the sanded paths be sure to pay attention to what is under your feet, could be sharks teeth? If your looking to get off off the oak tree shaded paths and have some fun in the sun, then take a path out to the beach where you will have 18 miles of one of the quietest beaches I have ever been to. Don't be shocked if you see wild stallions running up and down the beach just appreciate their beauty. The beach is great for shelling , as the seasons change so will the shells that wash up on the shore line. October and November and normally great months to get a few extra bucks, sand dollars is the island currency according to me. When you get back to the house on the mainland, give a hello to Charlie or Larry who live across the street;) Charlie will always know whats going on around town.. and tell him I said 'Hey Charlie, I miss you and see ya soon!!
