I am a native of Florida and lived and grew up there in the country until I was 36 and moved to Rome, Georgia which was hilly, but not the mountains. I moved to my home now Parrottsville/Del Rio, TN in 2002 near the vacation home. I love the country and the mountains. I worked accounting for 31 years and since moving to Tennessee I have mostly worked carpentry, staining and painting and now a store manager. Thus, I purchased this house and have refurbished the lower level which encompasses the kitchen, dining room, living room and one bath. I have tried to make the level somewhat rustic and to have the feel of a cabin. I love the curvy roads to ride my motorcycle, the gravel roads and forest to ride a horse, and most of all I love the country lifestyle leaving the traffic and hustle and bustle of city life.
Loretta Carns purchased this house in 2013
I love this area and the people. I love the convenience to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Johnson City, Hot Springs, NC and Asheville, NC. There are 4 seasons here. There are views that have differences between daytime and nighttime views which also change with the seasons. I hope you will love the mountains too. Fall is my favorite time, with the country festivals and color change on the leaves. The smell of the mountain changes with the falling leaves.
For people who live a hectic lifestyle this is THE getaway from it all. The house is nestled in the woods with few neighbors. You might enjoy a wooded morning or evening walk, or just to sit on the deck and enjoy the scenery, or by the campfire. Bring your motorcycle and enjoy the country roads and scenery through the mountains. Bring your horses and ride the trails in and around the national forest. This house is away from it all. Most of all there is quiet for reflection, enjoyment and peace for the soul.
It's taken me a long time to review this property because words just don't give it justice, especially when I think about the wonderful and memorable time we had there. The place was clean and organized, spacious enough for our group of 12 that included 7 adults and 5 children. The kitchen was large and spacious allowing for all of us to prepare meals for our respective families with ease. Four bedrooms with plenty of space and three bathrooms that included one on the main floor allowed for privacy and comfort. The property was nestled in a secluded area, so much so that we only saw two vehicles our entire stay of 4 days. If you need to get something in town you have to drive 30 plus minutes to get to a Walmart, but for us that wasn't a problem. Because of its seclusion, we felt very comfortable letting the kids play freely outside, but it was so beautiful we often joined them on walks and adventures, exploring the environment that surrounded us which meant they were rarely alone. This was our first family holiday and this place made it such a memorable one that we can't wait to do it again next year. If you are looking for a place that allows for privacy, is spacious enough to house a large extended family comfortably, and is away from the hustle and bustle of city life, then I highly recommend this home and this location. The fall was exquisite and I suspect every season has its treasures, but it's the memories made that makes it worth your while and I have to say, my family and I are thankful for each and every one we made and shared. Thank you to the owner who came to see us and thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
We enjoyed our stay and the surrounding towns. Also with it being far out in the country it is great to see and hear all the wild life as you sit on the deck in the morning. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would like to do it again next year.
We were in the area for our sons wedding and we were able to have the whole family in one location because this house had plenty of room for our huge group. The house was perfect. Yes it is secluded and the drive into the house is narrow roads but it was beautiful and perfect for peace and quiet. Thank you for a wonderful opportunity to have my family all together. That meant the most to me.
IT WAS SO CLEAN! Very spacious for our crew of 7 with everything we needed. All we had to bring was our clothes and food. Comfortable beds in each room, with open concept area upstairs and downstairs, loved the fact that the bedrooms were all on the same level of the house, spacious enclosed garage was a plus since we had some rain while we were there. It is a little off the beaten path but the drive in was beautiful countryside. Ms Loretta was very nice and just down the road if you needed anything. If you want a very nice place to stay and enjoy this is it! Thank you Ms Loretta for the fresh eggs and great hospitality!
We had a great stay on Meadow Creek Mountain! The property owners were ready and willing to assist us very promptly. Maury came by every other day to check on us to make sure all was okay. And they were available via phone instantly. They gave us great ideas for hiking and swimming locations as well as fireworks displays during our Fourth of July family vacation.
We are eight adults, a 14 year old and our 18 month old granddaughter. We never stepped all over each other because we had plenty of space to spread out, in the house and on the three lovely decks.
We recommend this spot for a secluded getaway.
Also, on the mountain in the national forest, was the observation tower. A beautiful place to watch a sunrise, sunset, or a storm roll in. Of which we did all three. Just a quick half hour drive up to the top of the mountain where you could see where we were staying. And the valleys and mountains surrounding us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great kitchen, we took turns with each married couple and then the single kids taking a day to do meal prep. Great space for family game day out on the deck. The hot tub was a hit with everyone, as was the jacuzzi tub. We loved it, and would stay again if the Smokey's are ever a full family vacation destination again. Thanks for the home away from home!
