2 bedroom/2 bath apartment for 4. Ideal for skiing, walking and cycling.

This fully renovated apartment in a traditional chalet building is in a quiet but central location in Altenmarkt. The apartment comprises entrance hall, master bedroom with luxury ensuite bathroom and WC, large modern open plan living room with fully fitted, well equipped kitchen area, comfortable seating and dining areas and balcony. There is a second twin bedroom with balcony and modern shower room/WC which are accessed from the living room.

The apartment has wireless broadband. There are TV, DVD and CD players. DVDs, books and games are provided (mainly English language).

The building is fully central heated and has a lift. There is a heated cellar area for storage of skis and boots. There is off road parking at the side of the chalet. The chalet has electronic security doors.

Non smoking apartment and common areas.

Altenmarkt Village: The market town of Altenmarkt im Pongau is nestled in the Enns valley at the heart of the Salzburgerland Alps.

Altenmarkt has an assortment of banks, shops, supermarkets and traditional and modern restaurants. The new medical centre and doctor and dentist are all within a short walk of the apartment. It is a ski centre with ski school and ski rental shops for alpine and x-country ski (free ski bus to Altenmarkt, Zauchensee and Flachau). There is also tobogganing, curling, skating and sleigh riding in the village. In summer, there are miles of marked walking and cycling (bikes can be hired in the village) paths and the ski lifts operate to give walkers access to the mountains. There are open air and all weather pools with the new Therme Amade complex.

There are local festivals year round and the tourist office in the village can advise on local excursions or public transport access to the surrounding area.

Surrounding Area: Altenmarkt is ideally situated in the centre of the Salzburgerland district of Austria.

The National Parks of Salzkammergut, Hohetauern and Konigsee, with their spectacular lakes and mountains are all within an hours drive.

The Hohewerfen fortress and Ice Caves and nearby salt mines are within 30 minutes drive.

The historic town of Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and known for it's summer music festival and as the setting for 'The Sound of Music' is less than an hour's drive away.

The well known lake town of Zell am See and spa of Bad Gastein are also within an hour's drive and there are numerous less known alpine villages to explore in the surrounding area.

The Austrian road and public transport systems are excellent and car hire is not essential.

The Salzburgerland Card can be purchased at the tourist office and provides free or reduced entry to many of the region's sites, museums and also to the local swimming pools and summer mountain lift systems.

Getting to Altenmarkt: Altenmarkt is located 45 miles from Salzburg airport with frequent service from several UK airports. Munich is ~2 hours away by car.

It is 720 miles from the channel ports and an easy drive with motorway access. The public transport system in Austria is excellent and there are good bus and train services to Salzburg and local towns and villages.

Excellent apartment in stunning scenery

We have enjoyed a wonderful holiday in a home from home apartment,it is very clean and well equipped. Local amenities are close by with the shops just a stroll down the road. The area is surrounded by fantastic scenery with many excellent walks. There is so much to do for all ages groups, one week is just not enough. The Salzburgerland card is recommended to enable you to get the best value when visiting the many attractions. The owner provides excellent customer service to ensure your holiday is a success. I would recommend this property and location for families alike. We have already started planning our next stay.

Superb apartment - simple as that!

My wife, two sons (9 & 7) and I visited over New Year 13/14 - what a fantastic apartment - exactly what we needed! The apartment is located c.300 metres from the main street on wooded edge of Altenmarkt. It is a fantastically well equipped and extremely spacious apartment in what was once a large hotel I believe - it is a really pleasant building constructed in traditional style. The two bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the open plan lounge/diner/kitchen is excellent. There is a storage area in the basement and ample parking. The village of Altenmarkt has more that adequate shops and an excellent range of restaurants. Skiing nearby is extensive - we skied mainly at Flachau but also visited Wagrain and Alpendorf - all were wonderful and suit intermediate skiers best but my two sons were complete beginners and were more than fine. One of the best attributes of this rental is the communication with the owners - Janice was exceptionally helpful throughout, she always gave us brilliant, detailed information and guidance and I cannot thank her enough. We had a great time and perhaps the greatest testament to the quality of this rental is the fact that we have booked to go back again next season! A great apartment in a great location. Well equipped, spacious Altenmarkt apartment.

This is a very well equipped apartment, located, as described, in a central location in Altenmarkt.

It was spotlessly clean, spacious, and well looked after. Having wifi, a washing machine/drier and a comprehensive amount of pots/pans and plates etc makes living away from home for a period so much easier.

It was very handy for all the amenities of the village

I would not hesitate to use the apartment again or to recommend it to friends.

Our Wonderful Stay

This is a beautiful, spacious apartment in a stunning location. It is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The beds are very comfortable and having two bathrooms is a real bonus. We had lovely weather (27-36 degrees) so it was a real treat to be able to use the chairs, tables and loungers on the balconys, heaven waking up and having breakfast overlooking the mountain. Lots of very useful information in the apartment to help with planning trips, and very nice to come back after a meal in the evening and relax watching a DVD from the extensive range on offer. The village is lovely, we stayed for eight days and did not meet any other english people, so felt we were in the real Austria. Very friendly locals, and very good, reasonable restaurants with good food (Rosners and Arch Noah particularly - esp. ice cream at Arch Noah). Good places to visit, Grossglockner, Leichestein Gorge, Eagles Nest, Konigsee Lake, Jagersee, and of course Salzburg. Lots of good walks, some right by the apartment, with stunning mountain views. We would definitely recommend this apartment, but won't as we want to keep it too ourselves!!! Lovely apartment and village, we will definitely be back.

Beautiful Altenmarkt

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment. The place was spotlessly clean and extremely well maintained. The small town/village is delightful and the surrounding areas are stunning. We found the local restaurants to be excellent with good food, value for money and extremely pleasant staff. Hopefully we shall return once more to enjoy this very special place.

great holiday

Me and my family spend a winter holiday in this great apartment. very quiet, bright, nice and clean apartment. Ski bus is just 3 min walk and it takes just 15-20 min to ski centre.The skiing area is amazing. I would definetly recommend this property to everyone !

Altenmarkt is located in Salzburgerland, 45 miles from the historic town of Salzburg. It is a picturesque small market town with plenty of shops, banks and restaurants. Good transport links provide easy access to Salzburg and the National Parks. Altenmarkt shares a ski area with the neighbouring town of Radstadt and and is at the centre of the vast Ski Amade area. With 200km of x-country ski trails, mountain bike and walking paths, Altenmarkt is an ideal location for activity holidays in summer and winter. The new all weather Therme Amade indoor/outdoor swimming pool and sauna complex is 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
