Cathedral View is situated within a quiet, private mews, within a ten minute stroll to Wells Cathedral and Market Place. Think Home Away from Home!

• 3 large bedrooms

• Master King en suite with double sofa bed (views of Cathedral and Glastonbury Tor), further two twin bedrooms, separate shower room, family bathroom and downstairs cloakroom. All bedrooms have hairdryer and DAB radio.

• We welcome children of all ages. A cot and high chair available at no extra cost.

• Free WiFi throughout the house.

• Private walled patio garden accessed from lounge/diner by French doors, with table & chairs.

• 1 allocated parking space and secure lockable storage for bicycles.

• Spacious open plan lounge/diner/kitchen. French doors to patio garden.

• Bespoke kitchen includes built in electric oven, gas hob, extractor hood, microwave

• Larder fridge and freezer

• Coffee maker, kettle and toaster

The dining table seats 8 comfortably and overlooks the private, sunny patio.

Cathedral View has three floors:

Ground floor: Entrance hall, cloakroom (WC & basin and Samsung Ecobubble Washer/dryer), lounge/diner and kitchen with French doors to private patio.

First floor: 2 twin bedrooms (one with a flat screen television combined DVD player).

Separate shower room, Family bathroom.

Second floor: Spacious King bedroom with a flat screen television combined DVD player, a double sofa-bed and en suite shower room. The room has views to Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury Tor. Here you will find our games cupboard and small library of books plus our extensive DVD library - ideal for those cold rainy days when all you want to do is snuggle down and relax with a good film.

There is very good local pub just a short stroll along the historic St Thomas Street (The Fountain Inn) and a Budgens supermarket with petrol, PO/ATM within 200 yards. National Trust Tor Woods are a short 10 minutes walk from Cathedral View.

There are bus stops on the main Bath/Bristol route 150 yards away

Unfortunately we do not accept pets and there is no smoking throughout the property (although you can smoke outside on the patio).

Wells is England’s smallest city, nestling in the glorious Mendip Hills, and is full of stunning architecture, fabulous restaurants, bistros and shops and friendly people. There are charming cobbled streets amongst the main shopping area, all dominated by the majestic 12th century Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace. Perfectly placed in the heart of Somerset, Wells is within easy reach of a host of Somerset attractions including Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Regency Bath and historic city Bristol.

SOMERSET CARNIVALS:

The Somerset Carnivals are highly regarded as the largest illuminated procession in the world. They occur late on in the year at various locations including: Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Chard, Ilminster, Glastonbury, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Taunton, Wellington, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, and Yeovil.

They go back 400 years, and are one of the most spectacular events in Somerset today. In some of the bigger locations (such as Bridgwater), you can expect to see crowds of up to 150,000.

The carnival floats are designed and built by dedicated carnival clubs around the West Country. These clubs have many members who raise money throughout the year, and work tirelessly to achieve the spectacular carnival entries. The floats take part in the parade along with other entries; these range from clowns dancing in the streets to 100ft illuminated carnival floats (some with up to 30,000 light bulbs) pulled by tractors.

We both love the beautiful City of Wells with it's medieval architecture and unique atmosphere and when this property came on the market we couldn't resist it.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the views of Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury Tor from the house. It is only a short walk down one of the oldest streets in Wells to the centre plus there is a very good pub at the end of this street!

Great base to explore a fantastic Catedral City

We stayed in Wells for a weekend reunion at a friends nearby home. We were 5 - our two giorls, and my sister also staying with us. Cathedral view was the perect base for a lovely time in Wells. It is a spectacualr place, and the Cathedral and Bishops gardens are a must see, and the house is the perfect 10 min walk from all the areas of town that should be visited. Everything in the house was as described, and check in was easy (and we even were able to check in early thanks to the owners generosity). We booked it due to the number of posative reviews, and we were very happy with our choice. It is places like this that are the reason we rely on Home away for many of our vacation needs when traveliing across europe.

Perfect spot in Wells

A beautiful apartment in beautiful Wells

What a wonderful stay we had here in Wells. This property is absolutely terrific. From the first contact with Suzanne til the day of departure, the process was as smooth as anyone could ask for. And the apartment is very comfortable and so well equipped - even a clothesline and clothes pins to hang laundry on the patio. It was immaculately clean and a wealth of information on the area was provided. The stairs to the 3rd floor gave us good exercise, but could be a problem for some guests. Thank you Suzanne for sharing your property with us and we will DEFINITELY stay here again if we have the good fortune to be able to return to southwest England.

The City of Wells is an ideal base for touring the West Country, with Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Regency Bath, Bristol and the seaside resort of Weston-Super-Mare all in close proximity. For those who like to get some exercise there is excellent walking in the nearby Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (the West Mendip Way starts just half a mile from St Thomas Mews) with cycling and bird watching on the Somerset Levels. Sporting facilities in the area include racing at Wincanton and Bath, golf at Wells and near Oakhill. There is also a leisure centre in Wells.
