I'm a grandmother, lifetime resident of DC, and recent retiree from the Federal Government.
Place is very nice, size rooms are perfect. Close to metro station. Definitely we recommend it and we will rent it again.
The house was well kept and clean. My family and I felt like we were at home. We would definitely recommend this location to our friends. We visited DC and Maryland. The rooms are actually bigger than the pictures.
The house is located adjacent to a busy street. The traffic noise is very noticeable during morning rush hour if you are trying to sleep in. Our daughter was taunted by a neighbour when she went for a walk in the morning to a local convenience store to buy some milk. As a result, we didn't feel safe going for a walk in the neighbourhood at any time. The house is old but well maintained except for the plug in the bathtub which does not work.
My wife, 1yr old and I stayed there for the weekend while we checked out the District and surrounding areas. Mostly we were out and about but the setup was comfortable and seemed suitable to a much larger group as well. The owner was quite nice and met us at the property to give us the run down on the house and the area, which is quiet and clean.
Most notably is that this is centrally located to many different areas such as Silver Spring, Rock Creek Park, and Bethesda to name a few. I recommend this place for family or a group of friends looking to check out the city.
Our group consisted of my wife, son, son's girlfriend and me. This row house was only blocks away from our daughter & son-in-law, and we were all together to celebrate the birth of our second granddaughter. It's an architecturally interesting end-unit on one of DC's many pie-shaped lots with a huge yard. Very convenient to all parts of DC due to proximity to major arterials of Missouri Avenue, Georgia Avenue, New Hampshire Avenue and North Capitol Street. The house was super clean, spacious enough to accommodate four, our beds were very comfortable. The owner was very responsive to all of our questions and requests, especially when we had a change of plans and needed to extend our stay for one additional day. We will stay here again on a future visit.
We were greeted by Benitia on our arrival and she kindly showed us the house and advised on local grocery shopping locations. We found the house to be clean and tidy Andes described, a comfortable base for our 4 nights whilst visiting DC and found the use of the driveway for our hire car convenient.
Large grocery shops are a 5 min drive away and there are a whole host of different eateries a 10 minute drive at Silver Springs if you fancy relaxing away from DC central. Ledos pizza on Georgia was also good.
The house is convenient for the bus ( bus stop 3 mins walk away) and then metro into DC central from Tacoma station if you have no car, or don't want to drive in as we did on a couple of occasions.
As well as visiting the usual memorials and Smithsonians and Zoo, we'd recommend the SPY museum and a trip to Mount Vernon.
We'd recommend this house to anyone visiting DC.
DC has a rich history and many attractions. Want to tour the White House? Plan way in advance and write your local Congress-person. The National Monument, Smithsonian Museums, Vietnam War Memorial, Washington Zoo, Jefferson Memorial are just a few sights. In late March-early April, the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom. Not to mention all of the wonderful neighborhoods such as Capitol Hill, Adam's Morgan, Georgetown, Dupont Circle, and Chinatown.
Neighboring states VA and MD have a lot to offer as well. In VA, Arlington National Cemetery and Mount Vernon Estate aren't far from downtown DC. Civil War buffs may want to drive out to Manassas to the Battlefield Park.
MD also has many sights. Spend a day in Baltimore. Go to the Baltimore Harbor and eat world famous blue crabs. Tour Fort McHenry and the Edgar Allen Poe House. Head to Annapolis, located on the Chesapeake Bay and home to the US Naval Academy.
