About Rebecca Gould
Our family has been vacationing and making memories here for over 25 years. This is our second property on Hancock Pond - our little slice of paradise.
Rebecca Gould purchased this House in 2016
Why Rebecca Gould chose Denmark
Laughing Loon is adjacent to our own vacation home on Hancock Pond. We purchased it in 2016 in order to accommodate our growing extended family reunions. In 2016 and 2017, we extensively renovated the house with fresh paint, new floors throughout, new lighting, new grill, new drilled well access, new state of the art heat pump system for heating and AC, new furniture and mattresses, new dock stairs and waterfront restoration, and new TV/internet access. We are proud to welcome our own family here and believe that you will be delighted as well.
What makes this House unique
Laughing Loon is on the water with gorgeous unobstructed views of the lake from the porch, living room and two of the bedrooms. You will relish starry nights and visiting loons, fragrant pines and ample privacy.

Amazing Lake Home on Hancock Pond and Beyond Amazing, Caring and Attentive Owner
Where do I begin?? Rebecca is the sweetest owner and allowed my father and I to have a special visit at her beautiful property for him to be "with" my mom on their 53rd wedding anniversary. I say "with" because he scattered her ashes on Hancock Pond a few years ago and misses her so! I contacted Rebecca to explain my plan for him to be there...to have a beautiful, private place to really just be with her and talk to her privately where her ashes and spirit lay in beautiful Maine.
Rebecca made sure everything was attended to and was nearby for anything we needed.
The home and views are worth any trip...we came from Alabama.
I would recommend this place to anyone!
Rebecca even had fresh picked Maine blueberries in the refrigerator for us and were delicious in our breakfast pancakes I made. It was such a special touch.
If you want beauty, views, enjoyment of the lake (Pond) or like to hike and enjoy nature...tjis is your spot. It sleeps so many without feeling crowded and has a great screened in porch to sit and enjoy your coffee looking at the water.
The Laughing Loon is awesome!
** I would only request adding a Keurig machine because I drink regular and dad drinks decaffeinated due to his heart rhythm issues. Just easier with a Keurig to not have to make 2 pots and one of us wait....that was me of course. 😉
Thank you Kirsten. You and your lovely dad are welcome here anytime. So happy that you enjoyed your Hancock pond homecoming!
We had a great time at Laughing Loon. We are a family of 5 with three teenagers and we were very comfortable. The house is recently remodeled and very clean. The owners are very friendly and responsive. Loved it!
Great stay with our kids and grandkids! We are already talking about returning next year.
We had a great time at Laughing Loon with our son and daughter-in-law and our two grandkids. It was our first time in the area and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some great hiking trails nearby, we enjoyed our excursions into Bridgton and Portland, we played a fun golf course in Bridgton and we especially loved being on Hancock Pond which was very quiet during the week. The grandkids had fun with the paddle boat and the single kayak. But the canoe was in need of some TLC, so we rented a two-person kayak from Sebago Kayak Company which worked great; it was inexpensive, came with life jackets and was a perfect way to explore the lake and the beach across the pond.
The layout was perfect for the 6 of us; we especially enjoyed the porch, and ate all of our meals out there . And the beds were very comfortable. The house is quite well equipped, although some of the appliances and utensils are older (if you are a foodie you may want to bring a couple of good knives). As you probably realized from the pictures there is no dishwasher, so you might want to bring paper plates. We made good use of the grill which is very new, and having air conditioning during the hot spell (several days were 90+) was a godsend.
Rebecca, your owner/hostess, lives right next door and she is great -- very welcoming and very helpful.
We're delighted that your family so enjoyed our little slice of paradise. You were great guests! And thank you for your thoughtful feedback. A kitchen remodel this winter will include new appliances - so next time you visit, there will be a dishwasher as well as a new canoe.
Lovely open plan cozy home with lots of room and incredible views lakeside
Open plan lakeside lovely home with tiers for enjoying lounging lakeside. Kind hosts attentive to your needs; don't expect you will have nay because the house has all one needs for a vacation in Maine. Enjoy loons, bald eagles and great blue herons along with other pond life in the quiet yet active community.
A Treasure to behold
This is a beautiful property nestled on Hancock Pond in the Lakes Region of South Western Me. From the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, to the singing of the loons during the day, our stay was picture perfect. The house, totally refurbished, is truly a pleasure to stay in, each room perfectly decorated for comfort and eye appeal. One of the downstairs bedrooms has a sliding glass door out onto the porch with amazing views of the lake - which was perfect for our elderly mom. We had the upstairs suite and woke up to equally amazing views of the lake provided by the full size windows overlooking it. Our 13 year old left the electronics in the dust and played on the dock both swimming and fishing during our stay... The porch provided a spot for us to work- when needed - and watch our son and his water escapades at the same time. There are farms nearby for apple and berry picking. Within an hour drive you can make a European Tour as you visit towns of Denmark, Paris, Poland, Sweden and Norway....just to name a few. The town of Bridgeton is within a 15 minute drive, and has gas stations, super markets and a lovely Main Street with places to shop and eat. We visited several eateries, and would definitely recommend: Towanda Deli, Beth's Kitchen and Venezia's Restaurant. We would highly recommend this spot to anyone seeking to get away from it all, but still have it all nearby - if you want.
Blueberry and apple picking 5 minutes away.
One hour to Conway outlet shopping.
One hour to Portland lighthouses and cultural attractions.
30 minutes to famous Fryeburg Fair in October.
One hour to fabulous hiking in Evans Notch and White Mountains. Several short hikes within 20 minutes.
