Perfect for a winter getaway!
Having travelled to the US for a week from London - we decided we'd like to get out to nature for a few days rather than spending it all in the city. We hired a car and drove to the lake - its very easy to find and in a beautiful location.
You can tell Brian and Robin treat it as a home - its fully equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen (having done numerous cottage rentals - its rare to find such a fully stocked kitchen! Plenty of saucepans, cutlery, plates etc!)
Its got 3 big cosy sofas in the sitting area, blankets, and board games and dvd's to keep you entertained in the evenings. The cabin is really all about comfort. Also, having the option of the wood burner, meant we were toasty in the evenings!
The local supermarket ( Food Lion) was great - for those who don't know the chain, we had anticipated the rural location to mean a much smaller shop - but its was a good size with plenty of choices, meaning lots of choice for cooking a varied menu!
It was nice to have the bikes on standby too - we borrowed two of them to cycle over and around the state park, great views even in the middle of winter and a lovely cycle.
Bring your binoculars - the setting for the cabin is also perfect for nature watching by the lake, it was so peaceful.
Robin and Brian were really accommodating to plan the trip with - we booked it all quite last minute and they went out of their way to make sure we had no problems! They had even gone down in advance to heat the cabin up so it wasn't chilly when we arrived!
We really enjoyed our time at Lake Anna - and if we make it back to Virginia again, would not hesitate to plan a trip there - thanks guys!
