Why Kathi Stein chose Olcott

We've always wanted a place on the water and when we saw this property, we fell in love with it. The previous owners had basically rebuilt and added on to the origin cottage that had been on the site for years. Everything was beautifully done. It is so peaceful sitting on the veranda overlooking the harbor.

Everything you would ever need (and then some) was available. Beautiful view sitting out back alongside Eighteen Mile Creek and Lake Ontario. Cherishable moments.

A hidden jewel of a find

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were blessed to spend a June weekend at this lovely waterfront bungalow on the harbor. The whole area is so peaceful, quiet and serene that we just wished we could stay longer to soak it all in. The cottage is just perfect for two people. It is nicely furnished & equipped with all the basics you would have at home...but add an appropriately nautical flare to the accessories. The bed was very comfortable and we had no body aches as sometimes occur when we travel...(my wife credited the very nice memory foam mattress). It was a pleasant place to awaken to and one morning we were just chilling on the rear patio watching the geese, ducks and big beautiful white swan just swam up, that was very cool! Evening on the patio at sundown after a busy day was so pleasant and just mellowed me quickly out, perhaps the glass of wine helped! The hosts are just wonderful too. Kathi couldn't have been kinder to quickly package & send my wife's "My Pillow" back to her when she called her to advise that we'd left it. It was a very nice experience all the way around...what a nice find, this wonderful little hideaway. We plan on a return visit here and spending more days adventuring in all the delightful lake front towns nearby!

The bungalow is located on the west side of the harbor in the quaint little hamlet of Olcott, NY in a quiet neighborhood with both residential and rental properties.

Our bungalow is the perfect little "get-away" spot for one or two people. Spend the day visiting the wineries of the Niagara Wine Trail then return to the bungalow to enjoy a glass of wine sitting on the private patio watching the boat go by. Or, walk around the corner to see the beautiful sunsets over Lake Ontario.

In the summer walk or drive across the bridge to the business district and Krull Park to enjoy the Olcott Beach Jazz Trail or car shows! July brings the Pirate Festival or in September enjoy the Celtic Festival. Van Horn Mansion which is located south on Route 78 in Newfane, is part of the Haunted History Trail of New York State. The mansion is open every weekend in October for a "ghostly walk" through the grounds and house or on Sundays during other times of the year for regular tours.

Across the harbor there are lakeside gift shops, restaurants, an amusement park (where rides are only $.25!), churches, a laundromat, and post office.

Newfane Marina is just around the corner and there are transient docks available during the fishing and boating season.

Check out the Olcott/Newfane facebook page for more fun things our area has to offer!
