Why Ian Dowling chose Hawick
We have always loved Branxholm Knowe. A traditional and comforting house, it has a lovely homely feel about it. Growing up in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland I have always loved the area and I am delighted to see many people exploring this 'hidden' gem of an area nowadays!
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Quite simply the delightful garden room which connects the house to nature and is flooded with light! We love this room on a crisp winter day with the log burner roaring!

The perfect location for a break with friends or f
I recently spent a long weekend here with family and friends to celebrate my 60 th birthday and the house was just perfect. Beautifully clean and extremely well equipped.
The house is very spacious and we loved the conservatory with the log burner, so comfortable.and cosy.
The beds are very comfortable and the master bedroom and ensuite is fabulous.
The outside area with its hot tub and barbecue hut adds a little something special to this holiday home. Nothing like sitting in the hot tub under the stars sipping a glass of fizz.
Lots of lovely walks nearby and if you wanted to venture further afield lthere are lots of places to visit within driving distance.
We hope to visit again soon.
This property lived up to the photos and our expectations. A fab living space and location for a relaxing break. The hot tub and BBQ 'snug' were great to add something special for both adults and kids. Thank you very much
Fantastic stay in this idyllic house in Hawick
We had a wonderful stay here celebrating my 30th birthday in December. The house is well equipped with fires ready to light for our arrival. The house did get a little cold later in the evening but given the fierce weather that weekend it’s not surprising. Gorgeous roll top bath in the master bathroom! Sad I didn’t hae time for a second bath. Hot tub was fabulous with excellent view of the stars (pretty sure I saw a comet)
Overall a wonderful time was had and I would highly recommend to friends looking to host something similar in the future.
Thank you for letting us stay in your home.
We booked Branxholme for a family birthday and to go to Hawick Common Riding. We all Loved it.
Plenty of space. Everyone enjoyed hot tub, barbecue hut and even a 'short game of cricket '. Would definitely book again.
Beautiful setting and lovely big house for a surprise birthday party for my husband. Outside barbeque and hot tub were a PLUS for everyone. Isobel on hand for any queries which was great. Highly recommended.
Thank you - we are delighted to had you enjoyed your weekend at out holiday home! Kind regards, The Dowlings.
Large homely country house.
Large country house where our family of 10 enjoyed relaxing together. Plenty of room for us all to spread out. Large conservatory was a wonderful room with log burner and lots of comfy seating.
The BBQ house is a great idea and enables BBQ no matter the weather. The hot tub was GREAT HIT.
Perfect holiday for a large family. Thank you.
