About Maureen Cronin
I grew up in a suburb west of Boston but always summered in Osterville and finally bought this house in 1983. Because I spent the summers there, I was able to acquire many friends along the way which is always a plus. The people in the village are friendly and outgoing especially in the summer when the weather is so pleasant. The beaches attract people on the warm days and the pace of life becomes slow and casual.
Maureen Cronin purchased this Cottage in 1983
Why Maureen Cronin chose Osterville
The location of this lovely home on two acres of totally private living on an exclusive street in Osterville while only two miles away from two popular beaches made it an obvious buying opportunity. Also it's in a very safe neighborhood yet less than two miles to the Village.
What makes this Cottage unique
This house was originally the home of the gardener for a large estate in Osterville and it has special plantings in the landscape. The best feature of the location is the total privacy that you have. There are no neighbors on either sides, so if peace and quiet are important you will definitely experience that. It is set on almost two full acres with ample yard space.

Sub-standard and unacceptable for rentals
There are doors that do not lock - the property is not able to be secured! Vermin infestation: mice in living room, mouse droppings each morning on kitchen counter, squirrels in the bedroom walls, birds in the eaves, unknown animals heard in the basement. Safety - lamps gave shocks, electric plugs in outlets caused sparks. Health - black slime mold inside and on the Brita water filter in the refrigerator. Black mold on the sponges and clothes she was using and left for us to use in the kitchen. Coating of grime and dust on all dishes and surfaces. Each plate, cup, glass, dish, and piece of silverware had to be washed first before using it. Dust, dirt, cobwebs, , dead insects, and bird feathers all over floors - barefeet turned black quickly when walking. Green algae came out of master bathroom tub taps. Downstairs shower with broken grout and grime - shoes required to use it. Smell of dust, mold, mildew all through house. Garage door opener opens the garage door but does not shut it, complex rigamarole of levers, hidden buttons on walls, and escaping through back door required to close garage door. Garage roof w/ holes - puddles of water form on cement floor when it rained. Overpowering smell of mildew and mold made using the trash bins inside there very unpleasant and nasty. Professional property management is required to bring this place up to any kind of acceptable standard.
Cape Cod house
I throughly enjoyed my stay at this Osterville property. It a charming and a typical Cape Cod house. The setting is quiet and beautiful
House is situated on nearly two acres of land, surrounded by pine trees for total privacy on three sides. Cape Cod structure with bright sunlight throughout. Residential street is only one mile long with neighbors' houses well off the road. Makes for a pleasant walk or bike ride. Less than two miles away is the town of Osterville, which is a small Cape Cod village with lots of small specialty shops, five eating establishments, a new library, a marina, and many service oriented businesses. There are two beaches about two miles away, the first being Craigville Beach which is considered one of the most popular public beaches on Cape Cod, and the second is called Dowses' Beach, which is a smaller beach and requires a beach sticker to utilize. The larger town of Hyannis is about six miles away and offers a larger selection of restaurants, melody tent, shops, two steamship boats going to the nearby islands of Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard. Boston is seventy five miles north of Osterville and Logan Airport is located there. Cape Cod is noted for the fishing, the whale watching, the antiques shopping, the golfing, the beaching and especially the mild weather with breezes from the ocean. This house is just two houses removed from the Atlantic Ocean.
