Why Gold Rush Staff chose Big Bear Lake
Loved the street and location of this property. It's very convenient to all of Big Bear's popular activities yet it's in a quiet neighborhood. The amount of space offered within the home works perfectly for our family to enjoy each other. Husband loves having a garage too! The area of Big Bear that the Lake View Lodge is in will get more snow in the winter than some of the other more high desert areas of the area as well as Arrowhead. Many times, when Arrowhead is getting rain, the Big Bear area, especially where Lake View Lodge is is getting snow! It was important for us to purchase within an area that is more likely to have snow as exposing our children to snow and the seasonal changes throughout the year in the mountains was one of the reasons we purchased a mountain cabin. We didn't have enough time to go on extended vacations, just quick weekend retreats. This cabin has been a blessing.
What makes this Cabin unique
Perfect size, location, lake view, garage, laundry, and its own snow play slope during the winter season! Enough space to offer many options for adults and children alike, everyone has their own space - kids can play in the back yard anytime of the year and love the natural snow slope in the winter. Saves money from having to go to the commercial snow play areas. Nice view and walking distance to Pleasure point Marina where we can rent a boat or rent water crafts for the kids. We love the vaulted ceiling all knotty pine and the wood paneling throughout. Makes a perfect mix of mountain charm giving enough difference from our home down the hill to make a weekend away completely different from our everyday lives.

Spring Break Getaway
The house was “perfect” my family and friends had an amazing time! Just what we needed to relax and enjoy everything Big Bear has to offer.
Great kitchen and Pool/Ping Pong Table was a huge hit with the teenagers! We would definitely stay here again!
Not the best.
Unfortunately I feel like the owner doesnt take great pride in this rental. The bedding was substandard... Lumpy mattresses and a creaky bed. The door on the master does not lock. There was limited sheets and pillows. Not enough for our group. Towel service was an additional cost. No shovel for snow. There are a lot of little things that could greatly improve this property. The pots and pans are all mix matched. There is no icemaker in the dated fridge. The couches are uncomfortable as well. The best thing about the property is the Pac Man and the backyard was great for the kids to sled.
THERE WERE MICE!!!
I stayed here with my kids, friend and her daughter for three nights in June 2018. Each night we encountered at least one rodent.
The first night was in one of the bedrooms. We barricaded it in the room and the next day Gold Rush (the property managers) sent someone who was able to shoo it out the door. He also plugged a noise maker in the wall that was supposed to scare any more mice away. I was so relieved. I thought this was one mouse that got in and our ordeal was over.
The next night, however, I saw another mouse on the bottom stairs. Luckily, I got it out the door with a broom. At this point we wanted to find a hotel for our third night. However, the layout of this place was right for us and finding a similar one would take time out of our vacation. Really, if not for the mice, and some disappointment that the televisions weren't working and the Foosball table wasn’t there as promised, this was a nice place. So we decided to “tough it out.”
The third night I was reading a book upstairs while everyone else was sleeping. That’s when I saw a bigger mouse scurrying across the room. Then, I think a different colored one came out later from that direction.
Our sleep was disturbed because of this. My friend ended up cramped on the top bunk in a twin bed with her daughter. Both of us were disgusted and alarmed (she even threw up on the 2nd night). We worried about our kids and couldn’t sleep well.
I reported everything to Gold Rush who said that they would report back to the property owner. The employee who we spoke with was very nice and understanding.
Ultimately, the owner did not agree to any sort of refund, or even an apology. In fact, she was silent. I tried to speak directly to her, or get some sense of her position before posting, but I didn't hear a peep! Moreover, Gold Rush thought they took care of the problem by plugging in those noisemakers even though that clearly didn’t work. If getting rid of mice were only that easy.
I’ve never written a review, but I feel morally obligated to do so here. This property is unsanitary: mice could potentially crawl in your bed and people leave their belongings, especially toiletries, exposed; and the pots and pans may have also been exposed since we heard noises inside the cabinets the last morning there.
I understand it’s the forest and rodents are a part of that, but they should remain outside the cabins, which has been the case in many other places I’ve stayed in the woods.
Great location very kid friendly
The cabin was very clean. Cabin has a pool table, Pac-Man table and large backyard for children to play. 10 to 15 minute walk to the lake. I would stay there again
