3 bedroom, 3 bath home with spectacular moutain views
About Megan Dahl
We are a family of four from Seattle and venture to our home in the Methow whenever possible. However, since our daughters are getting older with more demanding school and sports schedules our weekends in Winthrop are sadly few and far between.
Megan Dahl purchased this House in 2005
Why Megan Dahl chose Winthrop
We love going to our Methow home to 'unplug' from our busy lives in Seattle. Our home is very private with easy access to hiking and biking trails, yet it is only a few minutes from the charming towns of Winthrop and Twisp.

An incredibly special spot
First, while the pictures are beautiful, they do not do the home justice. A fantastic location close to both Winthrop and Twisp right in Lake Pearrygin's backyard. We spent a long weekend in the fall enjoying the cool weather and Autumn colors. The kitchen has all the cookware and utensils you'll need including a good array of spices. Fun ping pong, bumper pool and many board games. Plenty of room for three couples, and then some (3 double beds and 4 bunks). Very comfortable and inviting great room that includes a fireside sitting area, dining, and kitchen. Washer/Dryer new (a review mentioned they were older). GAs grill outside on the very large deck with a good sized Jacuzzi and outdoor fireplace. Our first morning was opening day for deer hunting season and that did limit us on where we could hike and bike, but plenty of options nonetheless. We all fell in love with the home.
Really lovely property
We spent a long weekend here - one family of 4 and one family of 3. The setting is gorgeous and the house is really well laid out for two families. The kitchen is well stocked. We really enjoyed exploring the area. The one disappointment was the washing machine. We were warned that it was on its last legs, but it really was not working very well at all. It made things a little difficult with 3 small children and one family traveling from out of state and needing to do wash.
Lovely house with stunning views
Property is well maintained and is very comfortable. The views are stunning and the area is out of this world. Winthrop is a good base to see the region from. Kids enjoyed the hot tub and the table tennis. The accommodation is ideal for a family with a good kitchen come living area, easy access to the deck and the bedrooms are spacious.
The owner leaves clear and simple instructions on what to do on arrival and departure and there is a wealth of local walk guides, maps and leaflets on things to do in the house. The only drawback is the wi-if speed. It is fine for browsing and doing simple mails but struggles if streaming videos or opening larger documents.
Great family vacation base in a stunning part of the world.
Beautiful Views and Comfortable Spaces
We were a group of friends getting away for the city for a long weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed the hottub and made full use of the kitchen. Great weekend.
Beautiful and tranquil retreat!
Great base for winter activities in the Methow Valley with an unparalleled view to return home to each day. Good sleeping arrangements for families with young children with 2 separate bunk beds, in addition to the master and guest bed. Kitchen is well-equipped and kids loved the hot tub. I would highly recommend this beautiful house!
I can't add much to what other reviewers have already said. This is a spacious, clean house a short drive up into the hills from the town of Winthrop. The views are indeed stunning; on a clear day, you can see many of the peaks in the North Cascades to the west and north, and occasionally you get an "above the clouds" feeling when the valley below is blanketed in fog. The house is secluded and quiet, but close enough to town (and close enough to other houses along the ridge) that you don't feel completely isolated. Fantastic stargazing at night. Thanks for a fun vacation experience!
The Methow Valley is the gateway to North Cascades National Park and boasts one of the largest mountain-bike and Nordic trail systems in the country. The valley is a recreational paradise. Nearby activities include, hiking, biking (road and mountain), climbing, golf, Nordic skiing, alpine skiing, fly fishing, rafting, kayaking, horseback riding and much more. The nearby town of Winthrop is like a step back in time. Walk down the wooden sidewalks of Main Street for a taste of the old west while visiting charming boutiques, galleries and restaurants.
Our home is 5 miles from the town of Winthrop (between Winthrop and the town of Twisp) and has one of the best views in the valley. It sits on 20 acres and is bordered by public land which contains endless miles of hiking and biking trails. You can sit on the large deck and enjoy views of Pearrygin and Davis Lakes and the Sawtooth Mountains. In the evening roast marshmallows over the outdoor fireplace and listen to the coyotes. In the Winter it is a wonderland with cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and sledding right out the front door. Loup-Loup Ski Bowl is a 30 minute drive away.
