5 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, a couple of blocks from town
About Barry Chesterman
We're a family of six (plus one dog) with deep roots in Michigan. We live in the Detroit metropolitan area, and break away to the beaches of Michigan every chance we get.
Barry Chesterman purchased this House in 2011
Why Barry Chesterman chose Saugatuck
We bought this vacation home because we love the west side of the state - and Saugatuck in particular, having visited many times over the years. An added bonus to Saugatuck is its location, equidistant to Detroit (where most of the family lives) and Chicago (where our oldest son now resides). We have spent the past few years updating the house, creating a real family home. We love spending time there and hope you will too!
What makes this House unique
Blue-By-You is in a perfect location; town is just a short stroll - yet just far enough that you still have privacy at the height of the summer season. The recently updated deck is perfect for relaxing on the spacious outdoor sitting area.. Five bedrooms, what a luxury - no more than two to a bedroom and you have plenty of room for 10. Located just around the corner, the Chain Ferry is a great way to cross the river and get to the beach by foot -if you don't mind climbing a couple hundred steps and running down the sand dunes. If you prefer to drive, Douglas Beach and Oval Beach are only minutes away. We love our house, and are thrilled to be able to share it with you.
Absolutely no smoking in the house or on the deck.

Perfect Saugatuck venue
A very well appointed and cozy home with an easy walk to downtown restaurants and shops, but yet far enough away to avoid the bustle of downtown. All you would need for a get away.
We loved having you and your group, and are pleased you had fun!
Location of home was the BEST! We could walk all over town, take the chain ferry to the other side of the river for hiking and walking the dunes. Short drive to reach all that we needed. Layout of the house was superb for 10. We thoroughly enjoyed spreading out on the deck and the guest book suggestions made the stay run smoothly. Thanks!
This house is great for a family vacation. There are two rooms on one side of the house and full bath. The other side of the house has three rooms and a full bath, easily allowing for two families or in our case teens/young adults on one side of the house and adults on the other. The kitchen is very small, so if you plan to spend a lot of time cooking, this may not be the house for you. The outside decks are where we spent most of our time. I was a little disappointed in the cleanliness, as there was a large dead bug and dead spider/web in the one bathroom when we arrived. Both were pretty obvious, leaving me to question how well the rest of the house had been cleaned. The location of the this home is such that you could walk all over downtown Saugatuck.
Perfect location and great house!
This home was absolutely perfect for our long weekend stay. The owner was fast, friendly, and quick to respond. The home was clean and stocked with the basics. Lots of room for the 4 couples! We loved being able to walk to eat and shop then come back and hang out on the beautiful deck.
Great location in a lovely town
This property was fabulous for our big family. The walk-ability of the neighborhood plus the great porch made for a lovely stay.
Perfect for a family gathering.
Extremely pleased . I was especially impressed with immaculate cleanliness. I also like the fact that it had a lived in feel so we could relax. The location for walking, shopping, exploring, or any other activity was perfect. Would always stay here vase on availability. Gorgeous deck too.
No matter whether you want to be active or relaxed, Saugatuck has something to offer, with fabulous shopping, art galleries and dining options, as well as bike paths, hiking trails, and beaches for old and young alike. Minutes to the south is Fennville, with its you-pick orchards, vineyards, wineries and fine dining.
Rainy day… have no fear. You are a short drive away from Holland with its rich Dutch heritage. Known for its springtime Tulip Festival, Holland also offers a vast array of recreational activities, visual and performing arts, Dutch attractions, magnificent beaches and an award-winning downtown with exceptional shops, galleries, and eateries. Drive a bit further and you’ll reach Grand Rapids – Michigan’s 2nd largest city. Here you can find all the excitement of a larger city with wonderful dining and world class museums including the Ford Presidential Library and Meijer Gardens.
