We are a couple living in Canada but we both grew up in the Caribbean. Last December we discovered Aquatika. We stayed at the complex with our 5 kids and fell in love with the place and all its attractions. Here we are after buying the apartment, offering an opportunity to other families to enjoy and discover “La Isla del Encanto” in the comfort of our beach home. The hospitality of Puerto Rican people together with the beauty of the island provides a perfect match for an unforgettable vacation.
Our home away from home is the perfect spot to spend your vacations. We provide a heartwarming home for your family and loved ones. From an adventurous hike at El Yunque rainforest, a day at Vieques· paradise beaches, to an evening walk in Old San Juan or just enjoying a Pina Colada at the Aquatika pool resort are just a few activities among many others for you to discover. Since you have a full kitchen, you'll save lots of money preparing meals in the kitchen. There is a shopping center just across from the main entrance and there are good supermarkets within a short drive and a 'mini-market' just outside the main entrance to the resort complex. There is free WI-FI available in the clubhouse that is just a few steps from the condo. There is one TV in the condo - in the main living room area another one in the dinner. It only has local channels which are all in Spanish. There are cable channels. There is a DVD player if you bring any DVDs from home or want to rent them from Redbox, etc. There is no 'land line' in the condo - but major cellphones from the US work just fine in Puerto Rico. Plans such as ATT's National Plan work here just the same as if you were traveling in the mainland. Some small phone companies, older Verizon contracts and some 'pre-paid' contracts are subject to roaming - so its best to check before. The condo has local TV access - so most programming is in Spanish. There is a large-screen TV in the clubhouse for major sporting events that are much more fun when sharing the experience with an enthusiastic local audience.
One of the best features of the resort complex for families is their very high standard of security. The entire complex is gated and all residents/visitors must be identified at the guardhouse in order to enter. The beach area is gated and locked each evening. There are 3 assigned parking spaces - so whether you rent one large van or several couples rent their own cars, you'll always find your own parking space just outside your condo. The unit is located on a third floor. Guests have access to all of the resort amenities in the condo complex, including several pools, water slides, 'river pool', basketball courts, tennis courts, clubhouse, etc.
Once you check in into the unit, we are always available by phone to help with any questions and if there is an issue that needs attention at the condo, we can make arrangements for any maintenance needed. When you leave, you can leave appliances off, so you can go directly to the airport on your way home.
Loiza is a small community just outside metro San Juan with a strip of gated condo complexes along the beach. On the main street, there are several local restaurants, beach bars, pharmacy, mini-marts - but major supermarkets, outlet mall and fast food is a 5-10 minute drive from the complex. There are several supermarkets between the airport and Aquatika, but the most convenient is the 24/7 Wallmart Supercenter at the intersection of Rt. 3 and Rt 188 on your way to Aquatika. There is also a mini-mart just outside of the gate at Aquatika and a Pharmacy down the road by the Villas del Mar complex.
Renting your own car is highly recommended. Nonetheless if you don't rent a car, there is a flat-rate fare from the airport to Loiza of $60-80 (subject to increase without notice - so check before you get into the taxi). There can be small surcharges for extra luggage or nighttime service from 10pm - 6am, tolls, or more than 5 passengers. If you have any questions, ask the taxi dispatcher who will give you a receipt for the fixed price of the trip before you get into the cab. Tipping is at your disgretion but normally about 10%. We also provide our own "taxi" service for a smaller fee.
The Tropicoco Penthouse is a step to the beach or the tennis court, great for all family members. And you can enjoy its magnificent “terasse” offering a sunrise and sunset view that made us fall in love with it. The condo complex requires wristbands to be worn when using the resort facilities. All guests must have a bracelet issued by the condo to use the facilities. Please provide the names of everyone in your group in advance so we can have the bracelets ready for you The condo management is now strictly enforcing a maximum of 8 people per condo - not including babies. This means that if you already have 8 people in your group, you can not invite friends or family to the resort. If you only have 4 people staying in your group, you could invite 4 additional friends/family but would have to get bracelets for them. Condo management has a 'no exceptions' policy - so please do not book this condo if you have more than 8 guests or if vacation plans involve inviting local friends or family to the condo. If the condo administration asks you to vacate the condo for not following the rules - there will be no refund.
Our apartment manager will greet you at the airport. You can follow her in your car to the grocery store and Aquatika for check in. We also provide a GPS unit with pre-programmed places that you may wanna visit in your stay here.
