Description

Photos and Description of this holiday studio in Red River - Riverview Cabin

Let the Red River lull you to sleep in the Queen bed with large bathroom.

Riverview Cabin is a one bedroom studio apartment. It offers a quiet retreat where nature sings her tranquil songs like the babbling Red River accompanied by gentle wind through the pines as you step outside your screened door to relax on the deck. Riverview Cabin has a small refrigerator, toaster, microwave and coffee maker for your convenience. The large bathroom features a shower big enough for two. Down the driveway you have access to the deck on the main house and of course the Red River where you can cook that just caught brown trout on the stone fire-pit or make smores which is a treat for all ages. A flat screen TV is watched from the queen bed or enjoy reading by the light above the bed.

The town is just 4.7 miles away where a grocery store carries everything you could possibly need to make your vaction complete. Red River has some great restaurants too.

Wildlife you will see are goldened mantled ground squirrels, elk, deer, grouse, a melange of beautiful birds, including the blue steller's jay, dark eyed junco, and hummingbirds galore. Black bear have been seen on our property so please bring in food after dark especially the hummingbird feeder we make available to hang outside your door.

As a bonus, Riverview Cabin has an RV pad just steps away with water, sewer and standard 20A electric outlet available.

About Laurent Perron

Candis and I, Laurent were married in 1975. On our honeymoon trip driving our VW square-back from Texas to Disneyland in California, we were enchanted with the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico. Candee's sister's husband's family had and still has a place in the Upper Valley just around the corner where we spent fun times with them. On a hike in the summer of 1990 we saw the For Sale sign, threw caution to the wind and wrote the Realtor an earnest money check. We broke ground in 1995. It honestly was and is the best thing I've ever done besides marrying Candis. We'll celebrate our 42nd anniversary next year! We hope you enjoy our Riverview Cabin as much as we do.

Why Laurent Perron chose New Mexico

Being right on State Highway 578 is a plus especially in the winter months since the state maintains the road, plowing snow when necessary. Down the driveway next to the Red River is where we built the main house. The sound the river makes rushing over the rocks is such a gift and puts us to sleep like nothing else can. You too will hear the river from the studio apartment.

What makes this studio unique

The NM Game and Fish regularly stock the Red River near our cabin so try your luck right on our 75 feet of riverfront. We also have a spring fed pond on the place where several years ago my nephew released a brown trout he'd caught in the river. That trout and another is still there and has become a beloved pet so please try to see them but please please no fishing in the pond.

Riverview Cabin has an RV pad with easy pull in access at the junction of Hwy 578 and Monte Vista Road directly behind Riverview Cabin. The level RV pad can accommodate a big-rig and has water, sewer and a standard 120V 20A outlet not recommended for use with an RV A/C but believe me, you will not need A/C up here. Maybe you might use your furnace at night only. Daily fee is $15. Only RV pad in the Upper Valley. Note: Sewer hookup will require almost double the length of a standard hose. Dump stations are available in town at two or more RV parks.

Peaceful and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin had everything I needed for a peaceful weekend. The location is ideal and the scenery was outstanding. My favorite moments were sitting in swing by the river and star gazing at night. My time here was great. I am looking forward to my return trip.

Wonderfully cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here at this cute cabin! The swing by the stream was so peaceful. We enjoyed a couple of long mornings down there with a hot cup of coffee. The drive in and out of Red River was stunning. Thanks so much for a great spot!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We are breaking ground in September of 2017 adding on a full kitchen. Please come back next summer or fall. We just arrived yesterday and the trees are at their fall finest. Laurent and Candis Perron October 10, 2016

Clean & cozy

  • 5 of 5

While we were expecting this cabin to be right on the river, it was not. However, the river was very close by & we could hear the rushing Waters from our cabin, which is what we were wanting. LOVE sleeping to the sound of rushing water. The cabin itself was very neat & clean & well maintained. Loved the deck on the front that allowed us to sit outside when it rained. Very peaceful setting. Even though there were many houses & cabins surrounding this cabin, it was very quiet. Just wish it had been a bit larger to accommodate a couple of chairs as we had to lay/sit on the bed when we were inside.

Owner's Response: Dear William-- Thank you for your nice review. We heard you and others regarding our guests not having a place to sit in the bedroom so, in September of 2017, construction of a 10 x 20 full kitchen gets underway along with a new 10 x 10 covered deck. The kitchen will have room for a futon, allowing a bed for an additional person and, there will be a table and chairs for dining, indoors or out. We will also have a second flat screen "smart" TV in the kitchen. Hopefully next year, the telephone coop will finally provide the final piece, the fiber optic modem for the much needed high speed internet.

mountain paradise

  • 5 of 5

It was a beautiful, serene setting in the upper valley of Red River. The cabin was very clean and modern. The beautiful river was just down the hill. We loved the seclusion and quietness of the site. The cabin was amply stocked for a short getaway. We would definitely want to stay there again. The owners were friendly and helpful and easy to get in touch with and quickly answered our texts/emails when needed. it was EXACTLY what we were looking for!

Notes:
RV Pad just steps from the cabin has water, sewer and standard 20A dual outlet available for an additional $15 a night. Pad can accommodate a big rig and is level. Pad access is directly behind Riverview Cabin. Steps descend from RV pad to Cabin's deck. Sewer hookup will require extra long 30' sewer hose. The Carson National Forest surrounds the Upper Valley and affords world-class hiking. One of our favorite hikes is found by driving to the end of Hwy 578 then on the forest road to the right is the trail-head to Middlefork Lake. Middlefork is a foot-traffic only hike that ascends about 1500 feet. Wheeler Peak can be hiked from Middlefork Lake and is the shorter route. If you stay to the left at the end of the blacktop, you will pass the duck or beaver pond which is a short hike from our cabin. Continuing on the forest road takes you to the official east fork trail head of Wheeler Peak and the Wheeler Peak wilderness. Wheeler is the highest peak in New Mexico at 13,161 feet
