My name is Zoltan. I was born and raised in Hungary and later moved to Key West, Florida, in the
United States. Not too long after my move, I met a beautiful Mexican girl named Alicia. It was her
dream to move back to Mexico, which we did. We have since married and have two Mexican-Hungarian
children: Lilu, age 3, and Dominik, age 15 months.
Shortly after we moved, I built our home, and later, this beautiful cottage – Hidden Paradise. Alicia and I
have a small building contracting business specializing in building and renovating homes on the beaches
Merida itself is a colonial city established by the Spanish. Nowadays, it is also a modern city but it still
honors its colonial heritage. We have found this to be the perfect place to raise our little family.
We moved here not knowing what was in store for us – and we found paradise. We hope you will visit
us and find paradise too.
By the way, both of us are fluent in English. I am fluent in Hungarian and Alicia is fluent in Spanish.
Zoltan Laszlo Toth purchased this cottage in 2010

We enjoyed our month at this private casita surrounded by beautiful lush gardens. It has the best king size bed in Mexico, good cooking equipment, a high gated wall for security, and it is very quiet (much quieter than staying in Merida). The owner is very friendly (without intruding) and helpful, regularly checking if we needed anything. If you have a car, there is safe parking inside the gate, and the location is handy to main roads for exploring the area. We did not have a car, but used the cheap, nearby bus service to go into Merida, and from there to take good buses to Chichen Itza and Campeche. This is one of the nicest self-catering accommodations we have stayed in, anywhere, and excellent value for the money. Highly recommended.
What can I say? This was the first place we stayed on our trip and was our favorite by far. The pictures say more than I ever could but I just wanted to add that this home is not only beautiful but also comes with all the amenities including hot water, good wi-fi, fully equipped kitchen (including a juicer and coffee maker) even cable with english channels. After a day of exploring you could return to every creature comfort.
The home is located in the village of Hacienda de Teya and is worth exploring as well. Buses leave very frequently from the village and drop you off blocks from the plaza in Merida, offering a perfect blend of bucolic and urban exploring.
Five Stars Plus, we will be back.
Really well equipped home. Zoltan was super helpful and our stay was great!
Great place with plenty of space, clean rooms and clean beds! Zoltan was a great host, very helpful (even met us in Merida because we couldn't find the place!). Grapefruit from the tree every morning were a treat :) If I were to go back to Merida I would choose to stay there again.
We had a great experience with this place from the start to the end! When we arrived at the airport, the car rental company we had booked a car with weeks before told us that they didn't have any cars left. All other car rental companies at the airport were out of cars that day. We called Zoltan, and he was at the airport 30 minutes later. He kindly took us grocery shopping on the way back to the house.
The house was absolutely lovely, truly a hidden paradise. We were travelling with our 4 year-old son, and it was just the perfect size. The pool was a real treat as the weather was about 35 Celsius, and so was the AC. Zoltan lent a few pool toys for our son. And the backyard is just as lovely as the house.
The house is immaculate, well decorated, and the beds were really comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. I really enjoyed eating grapefruit every morning, freshly picked from the tree in front of the house. It is a 30 minute bus ride from the city centre, the bus is just on the corner of the street, and we really enjoyed being in a quiet little village rather than in the city, especially with a young child.
You won't find anything better for such a good prize. Thank you Zoltan and your family, we really appreciated our stay... even if it was too short! If we ever go back to Merida, this is exactly where we will want to stay! Gracias!
I guess our review will be a bit different than others as we did not actually get to stay at this property. Zoltan was very helpful with the booking process, we had booked a month in January with a car. Unfortunately, we had to cancel due to a changing work environment. In one day we were refunded for our deposit with no questions asked. Great service Zoltan, hopefully next time things will work out.
