About Laurie & Richard Blankenship, Libbie Nelson
My sister and I are very happy to share our family vacation home with others. River Song has been our family meeting place since the seventies, and even our children who live out of state plan their vacations around times to gather in the Texas Hill Country. Many of their friends have come along and now claim River Song as their “home away from home.” We invite you to start your own family tradition at River Song!
What makes this House unique
The location of this property is ideal. We are not on the major highway like so many others, yet we are on the river. Neighbors are just near enough so that there is not a feeling of isolation. Everyone enjoys the charm of the house and the beautiful scenery.

This house is charming, quiet, with comfortable outdoor seating, enough space for two four-person families (or more) and close access to a serene spot on the river. We had a wonderful time, and Richard and Laurie were attentive and kind hosts, troubleshooting a minor issue and leaving us a delicious apple cake. We hope to visit again soon.
Great place on the river
Property comes as built. Very clean. Great location on the river. Excellent for camp pick up. Comfortably slept eight. Owner communicated very clearly and very easily. No issues. Would certainly use this property again if in the area.
Relaxing on the Guadalupe
Great house on the river to relax and watch nature!
Hill Country Paradise
I cant say enough about this amazing property. Its large, right on the water. You have a deep swimming/fishing hole that is very easy to get in and out of on the ladder, then you also have shallows for the little ones to play in... it has something for everyone (our age group ranged from 4-73 and we equally enjoyed it)! We super loved the kayaks provided too. The house is perfect, great layout for families, its clean and has everything you need. There was a herd of about 30 deer that slept/grazed in the yard every night and we loved sitting under the gazebo watching them with our flashlights. So many memories made during our stay. We'll be back next year for sure! Oh also, make sure you river walk down a couple hundred yards to the waterfall where the south fork meets the north fork... its warm and super fun to play in!
Owners were Attentive and available
Great location on the Guadalupe River. Deer were in our yard daily. The owners texted us to check to see if we needed anything. They responded immediately when we had questions. The house was well stocked with beach towels, lawn chairs to take to the river and kitchen supplies. I will consider this home next time we are in the Hunt TX area.
Great Vacation Location
Family of 7 stayed comfortably at River Song for 5 nights. The home is charming, clean, all the necessities you might need. The bedrooms are comfortable, nice to have on suite baths for the two bedrooms downstairs, jack and jill bath upstairs for the other two bedrooms. The WiFi worked fine, there are board games and the seating in the living area is comfortable. The owners were very accommodating, communication was good, but not intrusive. The location was good for us, we wanted to visit various state parks, Kerrville, & Fredericksburg. All about an hour away in any direction. The river met our needs for kayaking and swimming. We had 3 boys ages 11-15 to entertain. If they weren't in the water, they were using the yard for frisbee and football. The Ingram dam is close to the rental. The boys loved the dam, sliding down is fun, (warning you will ruin your shorts/trunks..but worth it). Deer came up on the property morning & evening, lots of birds to watch. There are other homes nearby, we felt we had plenty of privacy due to the size of the property. Usually ready to go home at the end of a trip. Not this time, and River Song had a part in making this a great vacation.
People seeking a simple, outdoor life that depicts the friendly, western spirit of Texas have been coming to Hunt, TX for generations. Texans and others vacation here to enjoy the beauty of the clear, green Guadalupe River and the activities it provides. We are home to campers, artists, and musicians. In the summer, we kayak and tube the river, meet friends for lunch at the Taco Stand or the Hunt Store and go dancing on Friday nights after the rodeo at the outdoor dance hall, Criders. In the winter, we hunt white tail and axis deer, hike the trails and gather around the fireplace with friends. Nearby, Ingram and Kerrville offer art galleries, museums, and live theater. Forty-five minutes will get you to Fredericksburg, Boerne or Comfort for more quaint shopping and antiquing. Other day trips are Enchanted Rock, Willow Loop Wild Flower Trail, Winery Tours, Lost Maples State Park, bat caves, and Bandera, Music and art festivals are regular events in the Hill Country.
