About Historical Apartment
I am a French surgeon and my mother a former doctor too, passioned by the restoration of our house, history, art, music, nature and by the joy of making people discover the place we love, welcoming and sharing our experience and passion with people who have made the effort to come and discover our country.
Historical Apartment purchased this Apartment in 1970
Why Historical Apartment chose Bonnieux
My mother and I have a strong passion of the place, discovered by our parents and grand parents 40 years ago who have bought it as ruins and have put all their strengths in its restoration. This is a very special place of memory for us, a part of our history. Do not hesitate to ask us more about this history, this is a part of ourselves.
What makes this Apartment unique
We like decorating, imagining, restorate the place. Enjoying the garden. Seeing all our welcoming friends. We like music very much and go very often to lots of the concerts that this place offer in summer (Orange, piano international festival in La Roque D'antheron, Opera Festival in Aix en Provence...). We particularly love the calm of the place and all what it stands for in terms of remembrance and love of our family. This is a kind of shelter for us, since we live the major part of the year in Marseille, a one-million-inhabitant city on the Mediterranean shores.

What an amazing place for a week in Provence
We had a fantastic stay at your wonderful historic apartment. The town is lovely as well, a bonus as we had no idea what to expect.
couldn't recommend it enough, lots of space, great kitchen, shower and living space, bedroom was incredible, would love to see photos of the site before the works all those years ago.
There is so much to say, we even saw Vincent who flew about on Thursday evening, in "dressing room" living room and bedroom, what a treat!
Wonderful to have met Michelle and Jean-Camille as well
Thank you all again,
Joanne and Tony
What a beautiful old town, and the apartment is incredible. The view is absolutely outstanding, the patio sun drenched and relaxing. The owner's mother who checked us in was lovely and welcoming, and the actual owner very easy to deal with, with a quick reply to any queries. Thank you for our stay in your special apartment.
This was such a wonderfully unique experience- a truly historical building inside the walls of a gorgeous village. The owner’s mother is a charming and delightful woman ( with dog) and the owners promptly attended one of our concerns ( no hot water) to fix it right away. I would happily stay here again but renters need to be aware of several things, as it is not suitable for everyone.
First, there are many stairs, both in the building and in the village - which I loved, as it was great exercise every day, but anyone with mobility problems ( or not physically fit) would be seriously hampered.
Secondly, one bedroom was adequately heated with a floor heater, but the second was not. The blankets were very thin and I ended sleeping in my clothes, bundled up in my down jacket during a rainy week in May. The suggestion to sleep in the living room instead was not a good one as it had no privacy and the day bed ‘s mattress was very thin. In summer, I imagine it might be wonderful, but
If I come back at another time of year, I might bring a sleeping bag to stay warm- though I do hope the owners will simply provide another heater for the second bedroom for cold weather ,
If you’re prepared for these two things ( and be sure to bring your own toiletries and supplies) , you’ll have a wonderful and memorable time.
Nice place for being about 800 years old
Convenient in the village, easy to walk to meals or shopping. Great village centralized for Provence. Shower could use an improvement, a tv might b nice but we still loved the place and history
Wonderful Stay in an Incredible Historical Apartment
Words cannot truly express how wonderful this apartment was, in my opinion. As a lover of history, I was completely in awe of the age and importance of this unique space...if only those ancient stones could speak! Michelle was a warm and welcoming host, generously taking time to patiently share her family history with us. This is an apartment unlike any other and an experience you will never forget in a beautiful, authentic Provencal village. On a more practical level, there was plenty of parking available outside the apartment, which is rare in an ancient village like this.
For me, a five star experience all the way!
Spacious apartment with compromised confort
We were warmly welcomed by Michele with a plate of fresh figs from her garden.
We liked the spacious rooms of the apartment, the thick stonewalls and ceilings, the well equipped kitchen, the free parking and the little independent garden. The location is excellent for exploring the Luberon area while Bonnieux has a good choice of restaurants. The confort is decent but not more than that, the furniture is quite old, and the bathroom is rather spartan but for us it was sufficient.
All in all we enjoyed the week spent at the historical apartment in Bonnieux and will be happy to return next time we travel in the region.
Many activities are available. Please feel free to ask us about Luberon secrets...
