|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
4 1/2 miles from Woodstock Village Green and 5 mile from Saugerties so come explore a true country experience at our newly renovated 19th century farm cottage. Located on a country road with Overlook Mountain as its backdrop, the cottage is part of our 100 acre tree farm, perfect for the artist, writer or anyone who wants to get away from it all yet a short drive to Woodstock or Saugerties. Out the front door of the cottage and across a small open field, enter the woods and follow trails that run throughout the property on which you can walk, mountain bike, and in winter snowshoe and cross country ski, as snow cover permits. You will find the newly renovated cottage to have full amenities, even as it retains its quaint country charm. Located between Woodstock (4 miles) and Saugerties (5 miles) the cottage is ideally situated to take advantage of the many activities the area provides. The cottage location just 5 miles from exit 20 at mile 101 on the New York State Thruway ensures easy access year-round.
Enter the four room cottage through a 28 foot long screen porch. A table on the porch allows for outdoor dining while porch furniture provides comfortable seating. The kitchen and living room both have oak floors and exposed wood ceilings. The beams in the living room show marks of the hand hewing that produced them more than a century ago, while an old hearth in the kitchen and low ceilings throughout evoke a warmer and simpler time. The kitchen is newly equipped with a gas range and oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and ample cooking and dining supplies. A center butcher block island provides plentiful space for food preparation and gathering round. A dining table comfortably seats four. Also downstairs off the kitchen is a bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower.
A stairway off a landing between the living room and kitchen leads upstairs to two bedrooms, both with queen size beds. The bedrooms are separated by a hallway and a half bath. Carpeting throughout the upstairs makes it especially cozy and welcoming. The cottage is suitable for children, a Pack ’n Play, Crib/Toddler Bed (you would need only to bring your own linens/bedding for them) and High Chair are available.
We came to the area in the late 60”s raised our children here and still love waking up every morning to the sounds of birds chirping, the sight of wildlife, snow falling across the fields and all the beauty that nature provides. Jeffrey retired from business is an avid hiker and can help you locate just the right hiking trail for your abilities and interests. Colleen not ready to retire enjoys her job teaching Anthropology, Women's Studies and Latin American Studies. Both Colleen and Jeffrey are experienced skiers and former ski instructors with the inside track on the areas ski facilities.

We lived in Woodstock for ten years before purchasing this property. The minute we saw it we knew it was one of a kind. Come visit the Cottage at Pine Grove Farm and you will know immediately why we moved here and have stayed for over thirty-six years!
Take advantage of our hundred acres with its trails and wildlife while enjoying the privacy of your own woods and open field. The colors of the fall foliage are other-worldly, the spring peepers will lull you to sleep, summer evenings seem to go on forever, winter is cozy with lots of outdoor activities. All year around, the night sky is simply spectacular.
We were two couple looking for a quiet getaway from the city for NYE weekend. This home was perfect. Space-wise for us two couples it was great. We each had our own private bedroom, the living area was roomy enough with two couches and chairs. The fireplace heat in there made it feel extra cozy!
Location-wise, it was away from town / busy roads enough for a nice quiet weekend, but within 10 minutes you could be at shops, restaurants etc. We did the couple mile hike loop they have there and it was great and accessible to start right from the property. We did not get to utilize the screened in porch or firepit I've seen reviews about because it was winter, but the property looks like it would be gorgeous in warm weather as well. Everything was clean and as described. There was plenty in the kitchen to allow for cooking a full dinner etc. Jeffrey was a great host. He was close enough to be there right away if we needed anything, but far enough that we had 100% privacy. I would definitely stay here again!
We just got back from this cottage last weekend and must write about how great it was. We had been to the Woodstock/Saugerties area once before and were looking to go back to some more hiking and see more sights. However, once we got to the cottage we did not want to leave! Greeted warmly by our hosts Colleen and Jeff, who showed us the ins and outs of the cottage and property including a great hiking trail right out the door. Once they were on their way, it was complete privacy. I was concerned about bugs in the heat of July, and there were many flying around outside while hiking, no surprise. But the huge screened-in porch was heaven on earth when we were at the cottage and solved the bug problem. We spent most of the weekend there. Friday night was a concert of cicadas and crickets, so great that we eventually turned off our music to listen. And the stars!! Saturday we went into Woodstock for unique shopping and great pizza, toured the Saugerties area too. So much to do in all directions in less than an hour's drive. It just started to rain when we got back Saturday night, then spent the evening listening to the rain on the porch and reading. Lots of light for reading both inside and out at the cottage. The cottage itself is adorable with anything you might need but we really didn't spend much time in it. There are 2 AC window units upstairs that Jeff said would cool the whole house, but even in sticky July we only needed the one AC, and that was really for sleeping. The cottage is naturally cool. Beds were super comfy with firm, foam mattress just like home ( we are spoiled) and great linens.
Really can't wait to come again in cooler weather for more hiking, there was one trailhead right up the road. The ultimate place for relaxing and just what we needed!! Thank you again Colleen and Jeff.
What a great home with a gorgeous property! The house is very private with many acres of trails to explore. The house has a rustic feel with modern amenities. It comfortably slept 4 adults and two children. The house was well equipped with a pack-n-play, high chair and baby gate, which made traveling with children much easier. The kitchen was a wonderful mix of modern (new counter tops, nice appliances, nice cookware) but still had a rustic cabin feeling. The living area was comfortable, plenty of seating, large flatscreen TV and rustic exposed beams. The linens were high quality (it's the little details that make it feel like home!) and bedrooms were spacious. The upstairs bathroom was very unique with the full skylight ceiling. During our stay, we explored Woodstock and visited Opus 40. I highly recommend Opus 40, especially on a nice day to explore and walk around the property! We went to Joshua's for lunch in Woodstock, highly recommend. The menu was fantastic, and they were very accommodating to the children.
Overall we had a wonderful time in this house. Although the foliage was breathtaking in the fall, this would be a great place to visit year round!
I had a very good time there. Both Jeff and Colleen are super nice people and they made some delicious cookies to welcome us.
If you're going upstate for foliage, I'd highly recommend you considering this place.
A group of us came up to Saugerties for a friends' wedding and we stayed here for two nights--one of the best rentals I've stayed at! It's a small cottage but has plenty of room, a grill, a full kitchen, and two bedrooms upstairs, and a pretty spacious living room--complete with an iPod with a mixture of great music, a netflix account, a DVD player.
One of the best parts was a 40-60 minute hike that is all on the property. We took our puppy on the hike twice both days and he loved it and so did we. It's absolutely beautiful and filled with wildlife! It was a flat hike through the woods, with a beautiful variety of woods, fields, and even a little pond. We got to see a wild turkey, a woodpecker at word, and even a little snake. It was so beautiful.
Jeff and Colleen were also amazing hosts, showing us around and making sure we felt comfortable in the space, making sure we knew to contact them at any time with any issue, and even texting us advice about some traffic they were hitting on their way back as we were on our way out.
I wish we had had more time to spend actually just hanging out on the property, playing games, making a fire in the firepit, and everything else. The wedding was beautiful too, but we'll just have to come back sometime to just enjoy the property a bit more.
This space would be great for a family of 4; for 2 couples, or for a group of 4 friends willing to bedshare!
My husband and I just spent the weekend at this wonderful cottage with my 4 year old son and we had a truly relaxing, magical time. The cottage is on enough land (surrounded on three sides by woods) that feels private but the wonderful, friendly accommodating owners are a short distance away.
The cottage has everything, is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We had an amazing time barbecuing, walking through the trails near the house ( with a lovely little stream ) toasting marshmallows in the firepit while teaching our son about the stars, sitting out in the screened in porch for dinner, looking at the beautiful view and just enjoying the peace and nature. My son enjoyed chasing frogs and butterflies and climbing. We were close enough to Woodstock ( 15 mins drive) to get some provisions and there are some wonderful places to eat out near by. We would definitely love to come back again.
The cottage is ideally situated to take advantage of the many activities the area provides such as hiking the trails of the Catskills, antiquing, craft shopping, summer theater, Maverick concerts, art classes, (HITS) Horses in the Sun, Woodstock's Film Festival and Playhouse, Phoenicia's Festival of the Voice. Hiking and mountain biking trails run throughout our 100 acres and the Woodstock Conservancy Trail is 1/2 mile up the road.
