Nature / Otter spotting: We have seen Otters in Ben Dhuirrnish Bay on many occasions. There is a solitary Otter seen quite regularly and we have also seen the female with her cubs and occasionally the father as well (only once see all three and I don't think the female Otter was that happy with the father being there!) These Otter sightings are tide and weather dependent and can not be guaranteed - but I have loads of video film (many occasions 30 minutes plus of video and also some amazing photographs of the otter close-up). With luck and patience it is just a fantastic experience and has made the holiday for many of our guests.
Nature / Bird Watching: Resident common gulls, mallard, eider, herons, we also see mergansers and goosanders, little grebes, kingfishers and many other birds including peregrines, merlins, buzzards, hooded crows and further up the loch we have spotted Golden Eagles. Towards the head of the loch there is a seal colony, which can be seen from the Taynuilt Cruise Boat.
Fishing / Sea and Fresh Water: Bonawe is a known fishing mark for sea anglers. The Loch has the Scottish record hake, Skate up to 40 lbs, Spurdog and Dogfish. Thornback Ray, Cod and Pollock into double figures and Mackerel, Whiting, Ling, Haddock, Coalfish and other species available.
The spurdog fishing in Loch Etive is excellent. The Scottish shore record of 15lb 3oz was caught here in 1991. Fishing in front of the house can be productive with massive shoals of Mackerel coming into Ben Dhuirrinsh Bay and are easily catchable on light tackle from the shore - brilliant fun.
Boats can be hired from Taynuilt boat hire and these can be delivered to the jetty at the end of the island - very handy and great fun.

Beautiful setting excellent house
House was perfect for us Grandparents mother and two children and son with his wife and two children. The layout of the bedrooms was great we were all independent of each other at night so the parents were close to their children at night but gran and grandad weren't.The house was lovely and warm even when we got the tail end of the hurricane.Lots to do you don't have to sit in car all the time. Went lots of walks watched the otter playing and fishing ,herons and buzzards were common saw them everyday the red squirrel put in appearance as did the golden eagle. The house is very well equipped and very very comfortable
Beautiful house in Scotland
We loved our stay at this comfortable, large home with breath-taking views of the bay and mountain. Andrew was easy to work with and the house had all the conveniences of home. We thought it was a perfect mix of privacy and accessibility. We felt like we had our own little corner of Scotland but were also an easy drive to Oban, which provided restaurants and access to the car ferry for trips to the islands. We highly recommend this lovely house!
Thanks JoNes for the nice words, We hope you and your guests return again. So glad you enjoyed the house and Scotland... all the best Andrew
Faultless luxury amidst perfect tranquility
We arrived at the property and all went 'wow'...location is just spectacular. on entering the house we all again said 'wow'...the feeling of space, the views, the uniqueness of the layout...everything was perfect. We were fairly active during our stay but we were drawn back to the house to really enjoy it during our time, it just oozes that feeling of enjoyment and comfort!
Will we be back? Without a shadow of doubt. It is pretty much paradise for a group of people looking to enjoy either the area or just each others company. You will not be disappointed!
Spacious yet warm and cosy. Clean, quiet, relaxing. Great views incl. stars at night.
We were 3 families (incl. 5 kids under 10 years old) and it was ideal for us with a lounge and shower room per family yet a dining room with a table big enough for all of us. Plus fully equipped kitchen and dining area. We went fishing in the Loch, walked in the area which had many great photo opportunities, stayed in and watched movies, read books in the house, played music though the great speaker system (using working wifi) in the main lounge and cooked fresh seafood from an Oban fishmongers. Great time away from city life.
The house is in a perfect location, is very well equipped and is decorated and furnished beautifully. We all had a wonderful stay and really hope to return some time in the future.
Many Thanks Ann-Marie, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and you would be welcome back anytime... remember returning guests get a discount 😁. All the best Andrew
