About Carolyn Coffey
I grew up in Oak Hill, which is now Austin, but back in the 60s it was country! My horse, dogs, cats, chickens, and lamb were my best friends. The cedar trees were my home until it got dark and I had to go in the house. When my parents sold the house, I asked to take down my favorite cedar trees, They now hold up my front and back porch at The Coffey Grounds! I am a mother and an artist.Restoration of old photographs is my passion! I used teach Photoshop at ACC and now I pull cactus at my country land and build. I remodel houses and travel trailers. I can drive a Bobcat as well as my truck. I'm stronger than I look!
Carolyn Coffey purchased this Cabin in 1993
Why Carolyn Coffey chose Brentwood
This was supposed to be just a starter house. My oldest son was 5 months old and I knew it would be just him and me for awhile. All I wanted to do is buy a house and work out of my house so I could raise him. So I did. Then the house became my art project and mental therapy. I fell in love with remodeling and couldn't stop. Long story short, this is no ordinary house. Our memories are literally stuck in some walls. I don't take pictures down or hide the art. I do give our guests room for their own treasures so you will feel welcome in this humble abode.

Unique in the best ways!
We stayed for mg sisters bachelorette party and there was more than enough space to sleep our guests. The pool in the back and trampoline were unexpected perks. The house itself is awesome and eclectic. There are so many details in the walls. There’s no place like it! Super cool.
Austin cabin with eclectic charm
We had a great stay and in a pretty nice area. The house (or should I say cabin) has quite a bit of charm and way better than what I expected. We had a short trip to Austin with my daughter and her friends for an event. The cabin was perfect. It had all the amenities we needed. Would recommend it and would stay there again.
Absolutely loved this house!!
We held a birthday party and it was perfect!! Carolyn is wonderful - highly recommend!!
Quirky cabin in a great Austin location
Our group consisted of four adults. The beds were comfy, plenty of amenities at the house and within walking distance. The deck is pretty awesome- like an outdoor living room. The only drawback for us was the small bathroom. It wasn't a big deal, though. Our 6'4" friend made it work. Owner was very responsive and ready to assist. It was the quintessential Austin experience.
Perfect mix of weird and good!
in the headline I use the word “weird” to describe this place, and as someone who lived in Austin for several years, it’s one of the highest compliments I can give. This is a quirky, charming log cabin close to the Allandale neighborhood, right across the street from a food truck park, chilantro’s, and torchys, so you’re already close to some great food. Should the mood strike you, 6th and Rainey are only about a 10-15 minute uber ride down burnet, not far at all for a fun night out. It has many beds and comfy couches making it a great spot for a large group. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a “weird”, charming place that embodies the spirit of Austin.
