Lakefront Oasis

Beautiful lake views from this property. The house was clean and stocked. Good location, but not so private. We enjoyed our stay here, nice backyard with stocked firepit and seating.

Love the house, love the lake. Not so much the smoke detectors and dogs next door.

  • 4 of 5

This was our second stay and we will likely return. The view is amazing, and the breeze is always cool off the lake. We managed to work around the single upstairs bathroom. This was not an issue for us - it's vacation! - but it might be important for some folks to know there are no closets to hang up clothes. It seemed that the smoke detector system was new this year and they went off almost any time we tried to cook. The day we cooked bacon, they went off so long that the police drove by to make sure the house wasn't on fire. I started cooking outside on the grill for anything that wasn't just boiling. We do all our own cooking, which I assume is not the norm for vacationers, but if you are planning to cook much, I'd suggest you bring the pans you want to use. There are a few eclectic pots and pans, but if cooking is important to you, bring your own. We stayed from Monday to Friday and the village is fairly peaceful on those days. Last year we didn't leave until Saturday and found out it gets significantly busier/noisier on the weekends. We brought a box fan to help push the air-conditioned air from the one first floor air conditioner into the living room and the space was always comfortable, so you might want to consider doing that. All the upstairs bedrooms have their own individual air conditioner, so they are easy to keep cool. There are two very large dogs that live on the other side of the fence from the house. They do bark a lot, and since we were brought our dogs, their dogs barking would set off our dogs which heightened the supervision we needed to provide for our dogs. Our dogs loved roaming the large yard on the slope down to the lake. The owners were very responsive any time we needed help with something like a new propane tank when the tank ran out - last year they brought us an HDMI cable to hook our laptop up to the TV so we could watch the Olympics. This year there is cable in every room - including the bedrooms - so the TV situation is much upgraded. The only time we ate out (besides ice cream which apparently is a daily requirement) was the breakfast buffet at the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake (at the west end of the village) which is reasonably priced (great senior price too) and was very tasty. Wonderful omelet station.
