Stroll Downtown from this Light and Bright Well Appointed 2 Bed/1 Bath Bungalow
About Melina Bridges
As natives to the west coast, we fell in love with Asheville the summer of 2014 when we first visited. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, we loved the familiar shades of green surrounding us but the mountain sunshine was the trigger that led us to eventually pack up our Oregon home and head east. It took us a year to complete the renovations on our bungalow and another year to leave our former jobs in education to make Asheville our long-term home. We have happily lived on Montford Avenue for the past year and reluctantly moved just a few weeks ago to a larger home in West Asheville while our youngest daughter completes her high school years. We miss the friendly Montford neighborhood and have no doubt that we will return to live in our bungalow.
Melina Bridges purchased this House in 2014
Why Melina Bridges chose Historic Montford
After I visited Asheville with my oldest daughter, I felt as if caught under its spell of enchantment. Just two months after my initial visit, my husband and I came together to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. This is when we surprisingly stumbled upon our bungalow. Although in need of love and restoration, we knew it was the perfect house for us. Light and bright, our favorite east/west exposure, a lively and engaging neighborhood just a short walk to downtown, yet offering the tranquility we needed for peace of mind and a good night's sleep. We call it "The Rose of Sharon Bungalow" in honor of Bryan's mother whose love and support helped us realize our dream to refurbish our home and make the move from Oregon to Asheville.
What makes this House unique
We love the vintage feel of Montford. The homes are lovely and historically preserved in an effort to keep time from moving forward. You will notice many grand houses in the neighborhood, including several lovely Bed and Breakfasts lining Montford Avenue and nearby streets in the neighborhood. We love to sit outside on the porch year round to watch the comings and goings of the lively neighborhood.

Beautiful Montford Home
Our stay was perfect from start to finish. The home was clean, beautiful and extremely well appointed. The hosts are wonderful!
Wonderful home in historic Montford
We were looking for a house to rent in Asheville and this home was perfect. The house was just lovely — very clean and stocked with everything we needed. Linen and towels were good quality. Kitchen was very well stocked with all the cooking and eating utensils we needed. Loved sitting outside on both the front porch and back deck. Location was so convenient to shopping and downtown. Melina and Bryan, you are perfect hosts and we look forward to our next stay in your lovely home!
Everything was as described and perfect for our multi week stay.
Rose of Sharon bungalow is perfect in every way. Great location, with easy access to downtown and interstates. House was just the right size for us to feel comfortable in all respects. Kitchen well stocked, linens soft and luxurious, beds amazingly comfortable (a good firmness for our taste), cozy den and living room with fireplace.
Melina was always in communication from before arrival through our stay for any questions or information we needed. So thoughtful to get us started with some refrigerator items and a plate of cookies!
A delicious little restaurant sits across the street, along with a small convenience store. Asheville visitor center a short few blocks away.
Will definitely seek to return as our relocation plans move along.
It was truly our pleasure to host you. You left the house in impeccable condition, and your departure gift was, now gracing the kitchen table, was so kind and unexpected!
I am so happy you enjoyed your stay and you are welcome back anytime!
Comfortable Convenient Living, steps away from Downtown Asheville, in a wonderful neighborhood.
We spent 2-1/2 months in this wonderful property. It had great amenities, comfortable beds, and was set up beautifully to work remotely while our son was preparing to start college. The Montford neighborhood is full of character and a friendly atmosphere. We were steps from Downtown Asheville, where we walked and dined. We found great entertainment in the area as well. We hope that this home is available when we com back down to visit our son at Mars Hill University.

Historic Montford is a wonderful, and friendly neighborhood. The Rose of Sharon Bungalow is within walking distance to three popular neighborhood restaurants, a convenience store, and a short stroll from downtown Asheville. The location is ideal for everything you can imagine. There is a great park with tennis courts just down the street, a nearby amphitheater that puts on free plays in the summer, and you will find, your perfect home away from home!
