Overview

About the property

An historic regency Bath stone country house built as a Spa hotel in 1746.

Once owned by Dr. William Oliver who invented the Bath bun and Bath Oliver! It's only 5 miles from Bath and 15mins in the car, but feels like a rural haven.. Perfect for family gatherings or groups with 5 double bedrooms and 2 other rooms that can take more temporary beds if required. Perfect for country walks and open fires but near enough for dinner in Bath. In the summer, relax in the 1 acre garden or visit the local pub.

Beautiful country feel but only 5miles from Bath. We love the location of the house as it feels rural, with fields to the back and woods infront of us.

We have a small boat you can hire for the weekend that sits on the beautiful Bath canal which will take you into Bath.. it will take 10 adults at a time.

We can arrange personal chef, cooking courses, experiences such as floristry course or Xmas wreath making. We also have a health nutrition expert who can give talks and healthy cookery tips. If you don't fancy being healthy then maybe an English tea served in the garden for your guests including the house original Bath Buns!

You can also hire a 6-8 person spa hot / tub jaccuzzi for the garden to complete the Bath Spa experience.

Guest access

There are 7 bedrooms and three reception rooms available for you to use. We normally use one of the bedrooms as a study which is available to you with a large iMac screen and printer available. Depending on your group size we also use the top bedroom as a cinema projector room - but don't get too excited its a bit a squeeze to get more than 5 adults in at a time, but allows multi-party guests to have some different spaces to chill out. Both these spaces can also be converted into rooms with high quality blow up beds and a single bed.

Guest interaction

We have a house manager Charlie (lady) who will normally welcome you and show you around. We / Charlie are then available on the mobile for any questions that arise during your stay.

Neighbourhood overview

We do have a good local pub called The Northey and this is 1/2 mile walk.

Getting around

A bus stop is directly opposite the pub and goes 3 times and hour into the centre of Bath. We do sometimes have a car you can hire if you like. Uber does operate in Bath but isn't always available.

Other things to note

We do have 2 friendly cats who hang around the house. We normally let them roam around and Charlie feeds them in the studio outside. We do have a raised 2ft pond in the garden, so please be aware this could cause an issue for toddlers.

Perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

Spa house delivered everything we could of wanted for a family get together and more. The huge gardens were perfect for the children to play in, with so much for them to do they were entertained for hours. The house itself is beautiful, it has so much space (and two staircases!), plenty of room for our party of eleven.

We were made to feel very welcome and look forward to visiting spa house again in the future 🙂🙂🙂

Perfect few days

  • 5 of 5

We booked The Spa House as a base for our daughter's wedding in Calne. The house was perfect for the bridal party, the room outside the kitchen made a fantastic space for the hairdresser. Felicity was very welcoming and helpful. Are certainly hoping to make a return visit when with a bit of luck it won't snow.

What a beautiful house in a stunning location, and absolutely delightful owners!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a fantastic stay at the Spa House. The owners went out for their way to make our stay very special over Christmas and were incredibly helpful in the lead up to and during our stay. The house was immaculate yet comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was the perfect setting for a fantastic family Christmas.

Perfect retreat for a stay in or around Bath.

  • 5 of 5

Spa House was truly amazing with traditional decor yet hi tech facilities.

The large gardens were well kept with numerous seating areas and facilities for children.

The local pub / restuarant (The Northey Arms) is no more than a 10 minute walk, and serves excellent beers, wine and food.

Another bonus, not previously mentioned is the fact that buses run from the Northey Arms into Bath every 30 minutes, in other words "park and ride" without the "park".

We would definitely stay at Spa House again.

Great weekend in a beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

Mark and Felicity could not have been more accommodating. They were in contact straight away and made sure we had everything we needed. We were a large group of ladies who had a fantastic hen weekend at this house. Everyone agreed they would love to come back one day! The garden was beautiful and despite the rain we still managed to make the best of it, there are lots of garden games available. The beds were really comfortable and some people slept longer than they had done in years! The house in general has lots of character and is very tastefully decorated. We loved our group dinners in the dining room with the little snug at the end and the kitchen is very well equipped. The Sonos sound system throughout the ground floor worked really well too. We didn't go into the nearby village but went for a short 5-10min walk to the local pub The Northey Arms and had a lovely afternoon, the surrounding area is very pretty. We were all genuinely sad to leave, particularly sad to say goodbye to the friendly cats! If you want a beautiful house & garden along with great communication from the hosts, look no further.
