Cottage on the north shore of Lake O' the Pines

Bedrooms 3
Separate WC's1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 31 nights

About the property

previously owned by Donna Paul (B.E., LLC)

[3 Bedrooms + Convertible couch] [2.5 baths with large showers] [2 porches]

This is a modern-day, two-story cottage (which sleeps 8) with 2000 square feet that sits right by the water. It is just a short walk to the lake from the cottage (which you can see from the pictures.) It is located in a quiet neighborhood. The house is cooled with central air and has ceiling fans throughout. There is a wood fireplace for the winter months.

It has a screened-in porch and an outside deck which is fenced and gated, allowing you peace of mind for your small children and/or pet while you sit and relax, listening to the birds and the lapping of the water. You might also catch sight of the deer who like to roam through the area.

If you like to fish, this is a great house because it is conveniently located near Alley Creek. If you like to read, play games, or watch DVDs/videos, there is a large selection of these in the cottage.

The first thing you will probably notice is the quiet. The neighbors are nice, too. :) This cottage sits at the end of the road and has very little traffic. It is a terrific place to come, relax, and get away from it all.

Thanks for visiting our vacation rental. Phil and Mary Jane

About Mary Jane Loftin

I am a teacher in Munday, TX, and my husband is a lineman for Tri-County Electric. We had rented this cottage several times in the past, so when we found out if was for sale, we bought it EVEN THOUGH we live over 5 hours from it!

Mary Jane Loftin purchased this cottage in 2017

Why Mary Jane Loftin chose Avinger

We love the location of the cottage. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood with great neighbors. It is close to Alley Creek which has a boat loading area, so we can put in our boat and fish. When it is cold or rainy, we can visit any of the many towns which are within 30-45 minutes from the cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage is just like a home. It has all of the amenities one needs without having to bring them. We used to camp in a tent at the lake. This required us to pack EVERYTHING we would need, and then unpack and put up a tent. At the cottage, all one has to do is bring FOOD. Everything else one would need is already there!

Our cottage is in a quiet neighborhood. We are the last cottage so there is not much through traffic to bother you. It is also on the water with a soft beachy landing place to pull up your boat, tie it off, and walk a short way up to the cottage.

A perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Cannot say enough good things about this home away from home!!! Jefferson is close enough to be a great outing for history buffs, antique shopping, and good food. Karnak is another close alternative with great catfish eatin' and interesting swamp tours. Best of all you don't have to go anywhere from the cottage to have an awesome experience. Multiple deer sightings, inspirational sunsets, and great fishing are all there in your backyard. The cottage was VERY quiet and the amenties made it home. Can't wait to go back!!

A great two-day getaway

Inside is very neat and clean, with a well-appointed kitchen; quiet and peaceful. A great place to r & r. Shoreline is not conducive to water activities.

Owner's Response: Yes, the lake is up more than 7 feet which makes the water higher on our property than usual. Usually, there is a soft, sandy beach area at the edge of the property. We usually pull our boat up and tie off to a tree and get out, never even getting our feet wet. My grandkids (between the ages of 1 and 9) have waded and swam in this area because the soft sand usually extends out pretty far until it hits small rocks. [There used to be a boat ramp next to our property, and this is where the shallow area is.] When the lake gets a lot of rain, like it has been, this area goes under water.

Very nicely. Right on the water. Comfy setting. Nice deck and screened in porch.

We enjoyed staying here. There was a problem with the queen bed. You rolled to the middle of bed and after looking under bed found that the frame is bent in middle, which needs to be replaced. Wish we had had a few more days there!

Owner's Response: I didn't know about the bed. Thanks for alerting me. None of the last tenants have said anything about the bed, and we didn't notice it when we were there the second week of March.

This house had everything we needed for our family Thanksgiving. The amenities were great, and the water was as smooth as glass. We enjoyed watching the deer come by as we sat by the fire pit. I am so glad we found this property.
