Overview

About the property

3-bedroom 3-bathroom country-house in Monopoli, Puglia

The 200-year-old trulli have been lovingly restored to the highest standards and maintain all of the original features. With no direct neighbours, the property is surrounded by acres of ancient olive trees and is ideal for a quiet holiday in the beautiful countryside of Puglia. All just minutes away from quaint towns, pristine sandy beaches and golf courses.

Accomodation at Trulli Sant'Oronzo is spread accross two separate units with indipendent access: the trulli and the guest house. The trulli comprise a double living room with open fire, a fully-equipped kitchen, two double-bedrooms (the main one with en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning), and a second bathroom. About 10 meters across the yard is the air-conditioned guest house with an open plan kitchen-living area with fireplace and a double-bed with en-suite bathroom. Both units are set around the large original courtyard and are entirely enclosed by dry-stone walls, guaranteeing privacy and security. The fittings and fixtures are all of high quality and the interior decoration pleasantly blends traditional Pugliese furniture and country-chic design.

The private 4x8m swimming pool, with a shallow end for children, is set next a lawn where you can relax under the shadow of old olive trees. The large shaded seating and relaxing area has a table sitting up to 10 people, ample sofas, a built-in barbeque and outdoor shower with hot water. An orchard behind the trulli provides a private spot for lounging and picking fresh fruits for your breakfast.

Beautiful trulli close to amazing beaches!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful trulli in the midst of an olive grove. We spent a wonderful week at this trulli. It is very conveniently located to explore Puglia. It is located in the countryside in the midst of a beautiful olive grove. The outdoor space is really well thought out and immaculately maintained. Beautiful pool and great outdoor bench. The trulli is very nicely decorated and very comfortable. Everything is very clean. Excellent help and interactions with the owners. Great value for money. Strongly recommended place to stay in lovely Puglia.

Perfection in Puglia

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent two fabulous weeks in Puglia and with the help of the owner discovered fascinating places to visit and delightful places to eat. We just couldn't see all there was to see in the two weeks we were there. That's when we could force ourselves away from the Trulli which we just loved.

It's a magical place to stay and we just did not want to leave. The Trulli is surrounded by dry stone walls making it very private and secure. There is ample space to find your favourite spot to unwind and relax, whether you prefer lounging in the sun or under the shade of the olive tree. There are fruit trees in the grounds, lemon, pear, apricot, pomegranate and of course olive trees. It's idyllic.

From the terrace above the separate building you can see the glorious olive groves and sea in the distance. My son took his running gear and we were amazed how making joggers and cyclists you see around the country roads. Within 5 minutes drive from the Trulli there is the most amazing bakery and you can easily drive to the beach. The owner is on hand to answer any questions you have and you genuinely feel as though you have a family friend who is there when you need them. When we arrived the owners were there to greet us and show us round our new home and there was a tray of goodies, focaccia, fruit and a bottle of wine. Part way through the holiday the Trulli was cleaned, towels, bedding etc changed and the owner left us a bowl of figs picked from his garden.

Everything you could need is in the Trulli, it is home from home. Puglia is a fantastic area to visit. It is so different to the rest of Italy, so unspoilt, you feel as though you are experiencing the genuine Italy and not somewhere that has been contrived for tourists. It's fabulous in every way!

Trulli perfect holiday amongst ancient olive grove

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at Trulli Sant'Oronzo and we really loved it... The accommodation is stylishly attractive, we had air conditioning at night, so slept very well in our comfortable beds. The outside eating area was a lovely place to spend time and of course we loved the pool. The Trulli is surrounded by an old stone wall.It is very peaceful and this particularly attractive area has some of Italy's oldest olive trees ... up to a 1000 years old. You can drive down to the nearby coast through these. We visited some wonderful old towns and ate some delicious meals, washed down with great wine. The owner gave us some excellent recommendations and couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. A really great find in a fascinating part of Italy.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 2 kids, 12 and 15. The trulli was fabulous. Immaculately clean and very spacious. It was very well equipped and the owners had pretty much thought of everything their guests may or may not need. The grounds were very well attended and the pool and eating area was beautifully kept. A car is essential! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or even return. Wonderful!

Second amazing stay, even better than last!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second holiday at Trulli SantOronzo. This time it was even better than the last. It is a peaceful relaxing place to stay with everything we could need. The location is close enough to the beach and the lovely bakery Panificio LAssunta. My three year old loved the swimming pool and spent many hours playing in there. The garden is very secure and again ideal for playing. The owners are very welcoming and are available for any problems or questions and keen to solve everything quickly. It is not the cheapest place you can rent, but with the well equipped house, beautiful gardens, swimming pool and lovely covered eating area it is good value for money and we will be returning again!

Beautiful trulli and most welcoming of owners!

  • 5 of 5

Many, many thanks for such a wonderful stay - we really enjoyed ourselves and the trulli was beautiful. Surrounded by huge, ancient olive trees, yet happily placed near some other Masserias with the comforting sound of farmers at work and locals passing by during the day, it was the perfect level of seclusion without being cut off from the local culture.

The welcome pack and recommendations for what to see and where to eat were fantastic, and being welcomed in person made us feel immediately at home. We felt very looked after all week and it was extremely comforting to know you were nearby and just a quick email away in case of any need. A far cry from feeling like an impersonal agency rental!

The separate apartment across the courtyard was perfect for people who prefer their own space, and the trulli rooms were lovely as well. We made much use of the BBQ and outdoor shaded seating area, and the pool of course!

It was fairly windy during our stay in early June, although the wind dropped for our last few days and I think perhaps we left just as the weather was revving up into summer mode. We also got rather ravaged by the little local midge / mosquitoes although they definitely had a preference for the lighter skinned of us! Not a major problem but repellant and bite-relief cream recommended.

The local people were overwhelmingly friendly - coming from London, it gave us a renewed faith in humankind. From start to finish, we had people offering us advice, little gifts of olive oil and courgettes, lifts in their cars, even personal guidance that took them far out of their way: my favourite experience of this was when we were trying to park in Monopoli. We asked a man if it was okay to park where we were (in very broken Italian) and he simply hopped in the car with us (four of u wedged into the back seat to make room) and personally directed us to a free car park and then walked with us to the local shops, ensuring on the way that we remembered where the car was. When we reached the shops he warmly shook hands with each of us in turn and told us to have a lovely time before heading off! Such generosity of a stranger's time simply doesn't exist in London, particularly towards visiting tourists.

A wonderful, wonderful experience! And the food, of course, was fantastic!
