This quiet cottage on Lermond Pond is at the end of a camp road, yet close to Camden. It has warm pine inside, a large deck and an outdoor firepit for roasting marshmallows. Birds abound here including heron and woodpeckers. The canoe provided is an Old Town Stillwater. There are a few motorboats on Lermond, but it is a very quiet pond. The cottage is located near the connection with Alford Lake and is an easy to portage to the deeper springfed lake for avid fishermen and women. No swimming, but the dock available sets out into the shallow water. There are two large black tractor tire tubes to float on in the water. No pets, no smoking please. Two double beds, one in each bedroom, with a double pullout couch. Microwave, electric stove. No internet. TV will pick up local stations. Wood stove, Vermont Castings, with plenty of Maine hardwood for you. No air conditioning, but fans and the breezes off the pond will keep you cool. Relax on the large deck on the Adirondack chairs. Water source is from the clean pond, but not suitable for drinking, but fine for dishes and shower.

About Denise or Bruce Tailby
We bought this as a shell and finished the cottage. We have spent summers and school vacations here, but with our children grown, we are renting the cottage. Denise does most of the rental management. Bruce gets all the credit for making the Blue Door Cottage the cozy cottage it has become.
Denise or Bruce Tailby purchased this Cabin in 1987
Why Denise or Bruce Tailby chose Hope
Secluded and private, neighbors are visible but not right next door. 1 1/4 acres provides ample trees for the many birds. Proximity to Camden is nice. Close enough to shop in the evening as stores are open till 9. Free concerts some evenings in Camden.
What makes this Cabin unique

We were extremely happy with our stay. The cottage is cozy, clean and well-equipped. We were there in mid-October and it was very quiet and peaceful. Several grocery stores are available within ten or so minutes drive, and you're only about 20 minutes from Camden. We had no complaints. As other commenters have mentioned, the oven is not working, so you may want to take that into account. But we were happy.
Destination wedding at the Camden Snow Bowl
Beautiful weekend wedding, the weather could not have been better. The camp was absolutely perfect, very clean and privet. The camp had everything you would need.Thank you Denise and Bruce for letting us stay at your camp.
Kathy and Darryl
Darryl and Kathy left our cottage immaculate and we could not have had nicer guests. You are welcome back anytime.
Very nice. Precisely as advertised.
The cabin was clean and comfortable. We had a cool night, so a couple of logs in the wood stove resolved that. Denise kindly brought us dry wood upon our arrival. The deck overlooking the lake was a great spot to read/relax. A working oven or a gas grill or a toaster oven would have been welcomed, but we made-do. Just bring water for coffee, drinking and rinsing dishes. Cell phone and internet reception was spotty, but worked better during off-hours or at the top of the driveway, due to the sparsity of towers in that area. TV was limited to Maine PBS but we watched some great cooking shows in the evenings.
Overall, a nice quiet stay.
Scenic, peaceful retreat
We loved our stay at the Blue Door cabin. Denise was a great host, and the cabin exceeded our expectations. The fire pit, canoe, and dock were great. We were there for a wedding, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that there was even an iron! We will definitely be staying here the next time we come up to visit family!
Elisabeth, You were easy to have as guests, and always kept in touch. Great having you here. Denise
Nicely situated and honestly portrayed in the photos.
We thoroughly enjoyed our all to brief stay. This is not a place where you simply look out over an expanse of water at a row of camps on the opposite shore. Looking out through the forest canopy from the deck you will see heron, hawks ,eagles etc. going about their lives in a thriving marsh/waterway setting. There's pretty fair fishing from the camp canoe that will challenge and reward your casting abilities! We hope to go back for a longer stay.
Always a pleasure when a guest truly appreciates our place and gets the sense of the camp in the woods. You are welcome to return anytime.
Lovely private getaway spot
We had a lovely time at Bruce and Denise's cabin. The cabin has all of your basic needs. The environment is beautiful an woodsy. Lermond Pond is beautiful and a bit enchanting. Kudo's to Denise for providing above average quality fresh, new-ish sheets. Kudos for the fresh new-ish pillows..these details are always a plus. The cabin is a great base from which to explore Mid-Coast Maine. Shorts drive to Preserves, lakes, beaches, Camden, etc.
My only negative impression is that I was not told that the water in the cabin was not necessarily drinkable until I had already booked. Additionally, I was not told that the oven did not work until I actually arrived (via a note on dining room table). When we take a "camp/cabin" style vacation, we tend to cook a lot, especially because we have a young child. I probably would have rented Denise's cabin anyway, but I would have liked to have been armed with the knowledge of the broken oven in advance so we could have planned accordingly. One last thing, and I don't want to nitpick...but one must provide lids to pans that actually fit the pan. If I had been informed about the broken stove in advance, I would have given the Blue Door Cottage 5 stars.
Linens and towels provided.
