Winner of 'May The Best House Win Spain', this is a lovingly restored 16th century and very beautiful Spanish Townhouse. With separate 2 bedroom guest accommodation across an inner garden patio - this house is perfect for families & friends sharing or a couple who enjoy spacious living. (There have certainly been some wonderful parties and celebrations in this casa!) Set in a spectacular location and region, this is a traditional Spanish house lovingly restored and fully modernised. The Casa is a large, light, luxury 16c Spanish townhouse, it has an inner garden patio, is cool in summer & warm in winter with shuttered windows, underfloor heating, open fire, air conditioning and traditional features. Head down to the beach, stroll around the historic streets or chill/party at home. The house is large and spectacular, with a variety of lovely areas to suit everybody. There is a large, light, airy, communal sitting room with sofas and a flat-screen TV. There is an extensive movie library and there are multi TV channels with English TV in addition to Spanish. The mezzanine leads up the spiral staircase to the upstairs kitchen and top terrace. The downstairs 'snug' and dining area is surrounded by books and games and has a wood burning stove. The house is unusually spacious and light for a townhouse with an inner garden patio & roof terraces. Situated near the 15 Century church of St Bartholome, the house is in the heart of the Old Town of Javea so you don't need a car. Wander down ancient streets, try one of the many wonderful tapas bars & restaurants; enjoy open air summer concerts; visit the indoor & outdoor markets, with a huge variety of fresh, local produce; sit and take a leisurely breakfast watching the local Spanish life. Enjoy al fresco dining; explore the medieval historical centre, or get down to the beach and the lively nightlife & (or both!); bask in peace & tranquillity of this lovely area;take a stroll down in the charming port area or the lively side of the Arenal beach, there is something for absolutely everyone in Javea and all very easily accessible. The range of activities in Javea is outstanding; there really is something for just about everybody - the lively and the 'not so lively' included!

Tennis: There are at least 6 tennis courts available in Javea, (home of our very own David Ferrer!); hard courts, clay, all-weather, carpet - all nearby and many with swimming pool and good food. In particular: Club de Tennis Javea, Paris 24, Toscamar, Costa Nova, Los Pinos and also at La Sella Golf & Tennis - to name a few! If you want to take a few lessons to improve your game or even begin to play - we are blessed with some really good tennis coaches here too - including Javi Ferrer, (David Ferrer's brother and also from Javea)

About Jane Dye

In June 2003, (and against everybody's advice!), we bought an enormous 17th century ruin in the Historic Centre of Javea.

Empty for 40 years with hardly any roof, rotten doors & windows - we totally fell in love with this exceptionally special Casa and EVERYONE thought we were totally mad….

We sold everything we had in England and our incredible journey began - bringing an extraordinary Spanish Townhouse back to life and introducing an English family of 3 plus dog into the heart of a very special Spanish Village.

Of course we have to be a 'little bit crazy' to have taken on such a huge project... but we built it as our home to which we will return again in a few years. In the meantime we are mostly back in UK ..... restoring another old cottage this time in Sandhurst.. yes - crazy!

Why Jane Dye chose Javea, Moraira and Denia Area

I first came to Javea over 35 years ago and although it's changed a lot since those days of orange and olive groves almost to the coast, it still retains its unique charm and history & the coastline cannot be beaten for its beauty. The only place to be is right in the heart of Javea with no need to get in a car (easy parking though). Sometimes it's lively (nice!), but our location is quiet (apart from the church bells) and the Historic Old Town is the only place to be if you want to be immersed in the wonderful Spanish way of life and not have to drive everywhere! We have lived in villas with a pool, but in the holiday season it can be very noisy and of course, you usually need transport.

We convinced the hormonal teenage daughter that 'camping' in a ruin without windows, doors, some floors and most of the roof would be 'fun'….. so we 'camped' for nearly 3 years and the hormones came and went (mostly mine..) and the dog continued to bury his bone in the building sand and we eventually raised the roof, fixed walls 3 feet thick where they used to keep the hens, recycled as much as we could and moved trees that previously held up the stables into the kitchen roof...

Step by step, we lovingly restored a ruin into an amazing house with handmade floor tiles, underfloor heating, endless hot water, double glazed & shuttered windows, and even found a hidden stone staircase along the way!

We still open our doors to passers-by who saw the stages we went through over the years and who still take the time to praise… it’s wonderful stuff to hear those 'wow's!

The locals were intrigued initially - to see the crazy English actually living there!! They helped us learn the language, encouraged and supported; brought us oranges from their orchards, fish from their expeditions, or paella freshly made for sharing; but most of all - even though it nearly killed us off with the sheer dedication and hard work and many, many hours of blood sweat and a lot of tears… we did it!

What makes this house unique

Our home is a wonderful house full of 'wow', happiness and really beautiful energy and once again it sits proudly restored to its former glory and more, fully modernised and in the heart of Javea. This is a happy place to Be, full of love, laughter and many happy memories once more – and now you can enjoy it too!

  • Water pressure is good in all bathrooms and shower rooms. The large, main en suite bathroom is marble tiled with free standing bath & perfect for ultimate relaxation..... there's room for two and with plenty of hot water to top up! The extra large shower with large sunflower head and separate hand held is also large enough for two! Although the main bathroom is en suite, there is direct access from the rest of the house without disturbing the main bedroom. All 3 showers have large sunflower type shower heads. (There are 3 toilets so there shouldn't be a queue!) The main house is fed by a large water tank up in the cupboard in the upstairs outside kitchen. The shower room in the Casita/Guest Quarters has an unlimited hot water supply fed by gas and the pressure is good in all showers.

  • All beds have good mattresses, (orthopaedic to soft), 100% cotton linen, good pillows & rooms have shuttered windows. Self contained GUEST WING across inner patio: Bedroom 1: large, canopied double bed with sunny balcony; Bedroom 2: 2 single beds. MAIN HOUSE: Bedrooms 3, 4 & 5 in the main house; Bedroom 3 has ensuite bathroom & large patio. Bedroom 4 has 3 single beds with Juliet balcony overlooking the patio. Bedroom 5 has a double bed & at the front of the house. There is also a double sofa bed in the upstairs sitting room if required. Bedrooms are large & beds can be rearranged to suit occupancy. The occupancy of this house is very flexible (2-13 people) with many areas to suit most needs! We designed the house to provide a perfect mix of space & facilities for children/teenagers/grandparents/in- laws/romantic couples/friends gatherings or a houseful for parties! As this house is our home, of course we want to provide all the home comforts for you to enjoy your stay here too!

A Happy House! Perfectly suited for groups of 2-13: for families/friends to comfortably holiday together - or couples who enjoy space and privacy. Enjoy al fresco eating or snuggle by the fire, (partial underfloor heating). Large sitting room, comfortable sofas, flat screen TV with surround sound, DVD player, wide selection of DVD's. Spiral staircase to rooftop kitchen & covered terrace, with sofa, table, chairs, sun loungers & parasols. Large middle terrace off the master suite for sunny breakfasts. Downstairs 'Snug' with sofas, fireplace, library of books & games. Large fully fitted kitchen, & refectory table. Separate, self contained Casita across patio: sitting room & dining table/6 chairs. Wheel chair access limited although access direct from the street on one level, as bedrooms & bathroom facilities are on first floors. This house is our home out of season, so facilities are of high standard with every effort to make your stay as happy and as comfortable as possible to enjoy!

Awesome stay in a stunning townhouse

My husband and I and our 8 month old stayed here for 6 weeks earlier this year.

The house was immaculate and even though very large, very cosy.

Jane and her family have done an amazing job making this once ruin into a spectacular home.

Jane was always at the end of the phone or email to help if we had any queries as was the house caretaker Dora.

We would certainly recommend this place for a visit to the beautiful Javea.

A perfect blend of traditional and modern.

The house was everything the photos had led us to believe it was going to be. The owners have restored it exactly right with lots of traditional features but with modern facilities where necessary.

We chose the house because of it's location, we wanted to be in the heart of Javea Old Town during the Fiesta of San Juan and we were not disappointed by the location or the fiesta.

When we arrived we were met by the manager who was very pleasant and the house was lovely and clean.

We were a party of 9 adults requiring 5 bedrooms and it was perfect. There is lots of living space, but we especially liked the top terrace with outside kitchen. There is also another terrace and a pretty courtyard. We were there to have a child free weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday but as I actually live close by I had asked Jane if she could leave extra bedding in case one of my children wanted to crash there using the sofa bed during the long fiesta nights, which she was happy to do. Needless to say once they saw the house there was no way they were missing out. (It didn't spoil our time, we just stepped around them while they slept as if they weren't there.)

Once at the house there is plenty of street parking nearby so everyone can enjoy the many restaurants and bars Javea has to offer, it is an easy walk down to the port area and the beach bars along the strip between the rocky and the sandy beach where we sipped many cocktails. The Arenal (sandy beach area) is a little further. A taxi from Mosquito Beach Bar back to the house was €7.

We all had a fabulous time and would definitely rent again/recommend this house to friends.

Fantastic Stay with a Young Family

Just back in Ireland after a wonderful 2 week stay in this fantastic house in Javea. There were 10 of us in total 4 adults and 6 children and we had plenty of room. The children loved exploring all the different rooms in the house. Location is great for accessing the old town. Miguel's tapas bar a few doors up had great food and even delivered it to us! Jane was extremely helpful and did everything to ensure we had a great stay. This truly feels like a home you name it they have it ...cooler box parasol beach play stuff, board games books and lots of DVDs. We were able to get parking most evenings around the corner. Beach was beautiful very safe for young kids. Look forward to returning someday.

Worked perfectly

A lovely positioned town house located in the heart of the old town Javea, with a traditional Spanish feel. The house worked perfectly for two families, all the facilities of home; spacious, comfortable with plenty of terraces and lounges to relax into the evening. There’s also Wi-Fi and large TV with DVD for the kids to entertain themselves. Ideally located within walking distance to a number of very good restaurants, so no need to drive in the evening with a local market on your doorstep for good local produce or morning breakfast. There’s a large fine sandy beach at Arunel, just a short drive away, along with good quality shops and a good selection of restaurants for lunch or evening meal. The harbor with its long promenade and its own beach is a short walk (20 minutes) and worth a visit. A very friendly part of Spain enjoyed by English and Spanish alike. We were very pleased with accommodation and location, and would certainly consider going again.

Wonderful house wonderful location

What a great accommodation in Javea! Twelve of us stayed in this fantastic town house in the old town of Javea. I can only describe it as the perfect holiday home for families and others who are looking for a nice holiday in this part of Spain which still has its Spanish charm. The house is well equipped, clean and spacious for two families to holiday together. A lot of attention to detail and hard work has gone into renovating this wonderful property. We did not hire a car but everything was within walking distance as the house is well situated. The local supermarket is only 10 minute walk and for eating out there are various restaurants located around the old town. The local bus service runs every 30 minutes which was a great way to travel to the beach. The bus stop is only 5 minutes walk from the house. The owner made it a home from home and went the extra mile to make sure our stay was comfortable till the day we left. Thank you very much!

The World Health Organisation selected Javea as having a near perfect climate with 320 days of sunshine per year. Bathed by the Mediterranean and sheltered by magnificent mountains, the area has something special for everybody. Javea's spectacular coastline is indented with a variety of secluded coves and sandy beaches. These hidden caves and bays were once used by pirates and smugglers in the Middle Ages but are now used by sunbathers, snorklers and scuba divers ; there's something to suit all tastes in this beautiful part of Spain! Cosmopolitan yet steeped in Spanish charm, Javea offers spectacular scenery, fabulous food, bars & restaurants, lively night-life and/or peace and tranquility, and boasts award winning beaches and a spectacular coastline. Winter skiing is under 3 hours drive away. The lovely Old Town is quiet (but not during fiesta in June!) yet near to good restaurants, bars, shops & markets, all within a few minutes walk and every other facility is easily accessible & only a short distance away. Javea is a real gem on the Costa Blanca and once discovered, is revisited year after year.
