About Adrian Jenkins
My wife and I and our two children (aged 27 and 13) live in England, 35 miles to the north west of London. We both work and bought Villa Mara as a place to relax and unwind by the sea with our family. Svetlana is Russian and there are strong cultural ties between Russia and Cyprus and, coupled with a love of the sea and the Cypriots' family friendly outlook on life, it made Protaras / Cape Greko the ideal location for us. We bought the villa with the intention of renting it out so that others can enjoy it as well - it really is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Water sports, tennis and cycling are all close by. We love to BBQ the locally caught fish and the fresh produce is amazing. We hope you will enjoy the villa as much as we do.
Adrian Jenkins purchased this Villa in 2009
Why Adrian Jenkins chose Protaras
We bought Villa Mara as a family get away and as an investment. It is in Cape Greko, Protaras which is within walking distance of Konnos Bay beach, the most beautiful beach in Cyprus. The sea is warm and calm there and, with over 300 days of sunshine, it is an uplifting place to be. We chose to buy a villa in Cyprus because culturally it suits us both well - I am English and my wife is Russian. UK and Russian citizens can enter Cyprus easily - it is a great place for us to travel with family members. The people of Cyprus are very friendly and love children which means that the whole island is very family friendly and relaxed. Cape Greko is a 45 min drive from Larnaca airport (the first 35 mins are motorway) and there are cheap flights from most major European cities.
What makes this Villa unique
Villa Mara is a light, airy property with Wi-fi and is only 200m as the crow flies from the sea (you can see it from two of the bedrooms). It has its own heated pool (rare in Cyprus) and is within walking distance of two beaches (Konnos Bay and Mimosa), which are both great for swimming. Konnos Bay beach has excellent water sports facilities and the Cyclops' Cave dive spot is between the villa and beach. There are a number of restaurants and bars within walking distance, including the cliff top bar at the Grecian Park Hotel (10 mins walk) which is a must do experience during your stay. A convenience store is 2 min walk away and the local Ayia Napa - Paralimni bus service stops outside it (every 20 mins from 07:00-04:00). Villa Mara is on a development of only 15 villas and the area is quiet at night.

Everything about our stay here was excellent
It was a winter relocation from the uk for us and the heated pool was absolutely wonderful
The villa was so well equipped and we felt totally at home
The area is perfect for Ayia Napa and Protaras we managed to find many restaurants open in both places
Walks along this coastline are some of my now favourites, easily accessible from the villa without having to Drive
Paula and Jason looked after us very well
Shopping close by for groceries
All in all a great place to call home for a few weeks
Thank you to Adrian for the information provided to make our stay the best
Lovely Week Away!
Excellent Villa, everything we needed for a relaxed week away. There was everything we needed. Paula was fabulous ans communication with Adrian has been great.
A wonderful relaxing week.
The villa had everything we needed for a relaxing week in the sun. We never planned on eating in, but found the villa so relaxing we ate in a couple of nights, letting the sun set over the hills, while having a cheeky drink or two and using the BBQ provided later on. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance (10 to 20 mins) and these were well worth a visit. The pool was lovely and we paid for heating during mid September which was worthwhile. The kitchen is perhaps a bit tired (but this would not put us off returning to the villa), but well stocked with everything we needed for preparing and eating lunch as well as the BBQ evening meals. The living room and bedrooms were all well equipped as was the villa throughout. The communication from the owners was fantastic and the information pack had everything we needed to see us through, from driving from the airport to the villa, to things like working the TV, as well useful info about the local beaches and restaurants. Thanks for being a big part of a fantastic weeks holiday.
Good location, great villa, good selection of channels on the TV and the heated pool was a big bonus
Excellent Villa in fab location
Adrian was very helpful and friendly. Knowledge of the area outstanding and communication was very quick and easy. We came to Cyprus for a wedding in Protaras.
The property is in an excellent location. We hired a car for two days and visited many beaches along the coast. Very easy to get around.
The Cliff Bar at the Grecian Hotel is a must. Fantastic views of Konnos Bay and beautifully made cocktails.
I would recommend the villa and we would all love to come back again soon. Maybe Christmas xx
Absolutely lovely villa, helping to make a brilliant Holiday
We have now holidayed in Cyprus 3 times, and the 2 times previous, we paid a lot more for our villas than this one. But the reviews were all really great and and it didn't let us down.
Great location, close to just about everything (mimosa beach is so cool). Villa facilities are brilliant and give you plenty to do whether is it spending the day sunbathing or keeping cool inside for a couple of hours. The call from the owner prior to our stay was a really nice touch, very useful and not something we had encountered on our previous trips. One thing the owner did mention had was the newly built Leonardo Crystal Cove Hotel & Spa, which does directly overlook the front of the Villa, but I am happy to say that it didn't impact our stay in any way and we didn't hear any noise once.
We loved staying here and would not hesitate to stay again and having such a nice place to stay helped to make a brilliant holiday.

Weddings: Cyprus is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love. Today Cyprus is one of the most popular destinations in the world for couples to tie the knot outside of their own country. Villa Mara is a 10 minute walk from one of the most exclusive hotels for weddings on the island, the Grecian Park Hotel, which sits atop the cliff overlooking Konnos Bay. Whilst the bride and groom will stay in the hotel, guests may choose to enjoy the freedom and luxury of Villa Mara which provides excellent value in comparison. With 2 other villas of similar size in the development readily bookable through us, up to 18 guests can stay close to the wedding party and enjoy each other’s company in a more relaxed environment prior to the Big Day. Contact us for more details.
Konnos Bay Beach (15 min walk/3 min drive) is arguably the best beach on the island and is within a National Park/area of outstanding natural beauty. As well as being ideal for swimming (the water is shallow a long way out) and sunbathing, Mike’s Watersports has a variety of up to date pedalos, boats, jet skis and other activities.
Mimosa Beach is a 10 min walk/3 min drive from the villa, is ideal for swimming in calm water and there is a bar serving food and drinks all day.
The Cyclop's Cave dive site is a 10 min walk from the villa.
Villa Mara is a 45 min drive from Larnaca airport, with all but the last 8km on the A3 motorway. Hire a car at the airport or take a taxi (about EUR 65).
A car is not essential but it is strongly recommended if you want to get the best out of your holiday. The local Ayia Napa - Paralimni bus service runs every 20 minutes in summer from the end of the road and there are local taxi companies.
Motorbikes, scooters and dune buggies can be hired from Ham Yam Rentals which is 15 min walk away.
Protaras centre ("the Strip") 2km. Ayia Napa centre 8km. Paralimni centre 10km. Larnaca Airport 65km. Grecian Park Hotel 400m. Mimosa Beach Hotel 600m.
Tennis courts can be hired at the Grecian Park for 10 euros per hour. For a family water experience, Water World water park in Agia Napa is a fun way to spend a day. Catch a bus from the end of the road to the park or take your hire car – the park is visible from the motorway. In Agia Napa harbour there are a variety of boat experiences on offer: 2 hour swim and snorkel trips in the nearby sea caves; day trips up to the UN patrolled border from where you can see the “ghost town” of Famagusta and evening dinner cruises. Turn up and decide which one is best for you: there are options for every budget.
For those who want to explore the local area in something other than a car, Ham-Yam Rentals is, in our opinion, the best place to hire bicycles, scooters, motorbikes and dune buggies. It is within walking distance of the villa on Cape Greko Road.
All of Cyprus is accessible from the villa within one day, even Paphos on the west coast. We spent an enjoyable day driving to the Troodos Mountains, out via Nicosia and back via Limassol. The area is quite beautiful and is full of traditional Cypriot villages and Orthodox monasteries nestling on the side of the mountains. We had a great lunch, tour of the churches and old stone houses and visited two vineyards in the town of Omodos.
