Authentic Alaskan Homestead Nestled in Eagle River Valley
About Whitney Wigren
My wife, Whitney, and I, KC, are both born and raised Alaskans. We appropriately met while playing on the same hockey team at 9 years old; thirteen years later, we tied the knot. Just months after marrying we purchased the homestead from my wife’s great aunt and uncle’s estate to keep it in the family. My wife works for the Alaska Air National Guard and has been attending training in the “lower 48” (as we Alaskans call the continental United States) hence why we’ve decided to open our home to Alaska’s great travelers.
Whitney Wigren purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Whitney Wigren chose Eagle River
Built in 1952 by my wife’s great uncle, Smoky, this log home was an original homestead of east Eagle River, AK. Originally allotted 160 acres, Smoky sold the land over the years down to the remaining 3.5 acre property my wife and I now own today. This property will provide you a glimpse of how the old timers lived before Alaska's infrastructure was developed.

Excellent place to stay!
Absolutely fantastic. Everything I was looking for-secluded yet close to town, all kinds of hiking and tourist activities within minutes to a few hours drive. Awesome quiet place for a honeymoon!
A great cabin nestled in an incredible mountain setting. The cabin is comfortable, immaculate and stocked with all the amenities a traveler might need. 25 minute drive to downtown Anchorage with light traffic. My wife and I loved everything about this rental.
We thought the cabin was excellent for our family of 4. We had an amazing visit and saw lots of wildlife. The Mountain View was majestic. Thank you for sharing your cabin!
Perfect Honeymoon Get Away
We stayed here for 4 days after getting married at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. The cabin has a beautiful view of the mountains and it was the perfect honeymoon spot for us. Great location! Close enough to Anchorage but you still feel secluded from the rest of the world.
Not worth the money
Our first impression driving in was the beautiful view. Unfortunately the view was obscured with dirty windows. Once inside we found food leftover from previous renters, crumbs on the table and wet towels in the dryer. There were no smoke detectors or pillowcases on the bed pillows The owner was responsive with communication, questions, and suggestions. The bake shop in Alyeska Resort and Moose’s tooth in Anchorage were a huge hit. For the price we paid not worth the accommodations. Making sure your place is cleaned properly between rentals is the responsible thing for a property owner to do
We're sorry to hear you felt our home was not up to your standard, this is the first review of that sort we have had in our five years of operating as indicated by our 4.8/5 star review from over 60 satisfied guests.
We take immense pride in our home and were not aware of the cleaning issues; when notified, I apologized and immediately offered to remedy the cleaning issues, but you declined. I believe offering to remedy issues in a timely manner is the responsible thing as we try to accommodate and ensure each guest has an enjoyable stay. I discussed the outlined issues with our contracted cleaning company and will ensure it never happens again, but wish we were afforded the opportunity to correct the issue so your stay wouldn't have been such a negative experience.
Thank you again for your business.
Beautiful private location with a fabulous view.
The owners were very helpful with pointing out activities and restaurants in the area.
Our Alaskan homestead is conveniently located 6 miles from the entrance of Chugach State Park, the third largest state park in America and voted as one of the top ten state parks in the United States. The park offers some of the most accessible hiking, skiing, camping, wildlife viewing, snowmaching, rafting, and climbing in Alaska. With 28 recognized trailheads, Chugach is truly Alaska's playground and only a 5 minute drive.
