Fabulous property and location
We stayed at the villa for 3 weeks and had a fabulous holiday exactly what we wanted peace and quite an excellent pool and a very cosy villa that had everything you would want, very well appointed and with everything you would need to make it like home for the stay.
The villa in our opinion is in the best part of the island, the villa overlooks the ocean and bay that is excellent for kayaking out to secluded beaches, the water is shallow warm and crystal clear
The villa is approx 15 mins from a very good supermarket, 10 mins from and excellent fish market and 15 mins from a fairly good snorkelling beach.
Rhondda the owner and the manger of the property was excellent ensuring anything that required addressing was done so very quickly, I particularly liked the prompt response during the initial booking process, meeting us at the airport and the very professional approach she had.
The fantastic outlook and peace and quite make this an excellent holiday location

Left Villa Jayla within 24 hours of arrival...
While we’ve rented vacation villas through VRBO several times, this is a first in leaving an adverse review. We arrived at Villa Jayla to find that we were mislead about the two main priorities we set for our vacation: reasonable walking distance to Taylor Bay beach and access to the tennis courts on Sunset Bay Drive.
Prior to booking Rhondda Collymore (property owner and manager) stated that the beach was a 10 minute walk from Villa Jayla and that we could use the tennis courts. Upon arrival we soon learned both were incorrect. Taylor Bay beach access is actually 2.5+ miles from Villa Jayla. Rhondda gave us an alternative; drive to the beach access at Ocean Point Close. What wasn’t shared that parking at that location runs the risk of getting your car towed. And access to the tennis courts is for those villas located on Sunset Bay Drive, Ocean Point and Ocean Point Close. While she did give us the access code, security monitors the courts, asks where you are staying and if it’s outside these three areas, kindly asks you to leave.
Aside from the clear misrepresentation of the property and it’s access to the priorities we set for our vacation, we found Villa Jayla itself to be a disappointment. The home is worn with several key elements either broken or not working properly. For example upon our arrival the pool wasn’t vacuumed, the water was cloudy and it’s pump didn’t work. Chlorine pellets were simply placed in the deep end to dissolve, ones we mistakenly believed were rocks. And in the house you must run the water for up to five minutes every time you want it hot.
Finding alternative accommodations, we left Villa Jayla within 24 hours of arriving. That was April 7. On April 13, Rhondda agreed to a partial refund however today, April 20th HomeAway/VRBO confirmed that it still hasn’t been processed.

We at Villa Jayla strive to give our clients more than he or she expects at all times, hence we have since use your comments as a tool to ensure that we keep our word and continue to serve our Guests with top class Customer Service.
We were off island during the correspondence and as promised funds were immediately send to Mr Sheehan via pay pal on our arrival.
Relaxing villa on the quiet side of the island.
We had a fabulous stay at Villa Jayla! Upon arrival there were snacks, fresh fruits, water, beer and even a bottle of champagne from Rhondda to welcome us!
The first thing that strikes you is the view. You can sit on the patio or lounge in the pool and look out over the clear blue water for hours.
Taylor Bay and Sapodilla beach are a short drive down Chalk Sound. They aren’t as famous as Grace Bay, but we found them much nicer. Less crowded, more beach, less debris in the ocean. The villa gives you private access to Silly Creek and kayaks for 4. They have 4 comfortable loungers and 2 hammocks poolside. This side of the island is serene and relaxing. The island is rebuilding from the major hurricanes last fall, but our vacation was not impeded in any way. We loved this area of Provo and are already planning our return!
Beautiful view, great little pool but noisy area
The most positive aspects of Villa Jayla have to be the view of Chalk Sound, the lovely decks for sitting and the pool. These are aspects we never stopped enjoying for our 2 week stay. Rhondda was also easy to deal with and responded quickly to our requests. When we arrived at the villa, a bottle of wine as well as snacks and beer had been left for us. Two days after our arrival though, we realized there were some issues that needed to be dealt with. The bed creaked so badly we couldn’t sleep, the screen door was falling apart, the frying pans were unusable and the dishwasher didn’t work. Rhondda responded quickly to have the bed and screen door fixed as well as replace the frying pans (dishwasher still doesn’t work). Overall though, the villa is nice.
Chalk Sound is beautiful but also undergoing lots of building and rebuilding (due to the hurricane). So unfortunately, we had to listen to the sound of hammers, saws, jackhammers etc., throughout our stay. There are also two dogs that reside across the street, one of which barks incessantly all day long. My wife and I love to walk which we did and again the scenery is beautiful but we did encounter packs of wild dogs that can be quite aggressive. There are also no sidewalks and with all the construction the road is very busy. Finally, this area is in the path of the airport strip so lots of planes fly overhead throughout the day.
Finally, the location is farther away from shopping and restaurants than anticipated so you definitely need a car. We have been to TCI several times so we wanted to try out this area. Would we rent again in the Chalk Sound area? Probably not.
Villa Jayla is wonderful. It had everything we wanted and things we didn't know we needed (2 kayaks, beach chairs, beach towels, washer/dryer, prepaid cell phone, landline) and the kitchen was nicely appointed. We especially loved the views. In the morning, there's shade on the covered porch/balcony and in the afternoon, there's shade by the poolside. So whether you want shade or sun, there is a spot for you with a view. Rhonnda was very helpful (and gracious when I lost the house key!). It was an easy and relaxing stay on the quieter side of the island. We would return again in a heartbeat.
Great location away from all the tourists!
We spent one week with another couple at beautiful, peaceful Villa Jayla and would undoubtedly spend another week here when we decide to come back! Rhondda was the perfect host from start to finish, she met us at the airport and escorted us back to the home, which was fully equipped with everything we could ask for. Our favorite place was the large front porch with sweeping views of Silly Creek and the ocean in the background. We would sit out there with our coffee every morning. There are also kayaks available, which were great to explore the creek on a lazy afternoon or even just sitting on the dock with our feet in the water. The pool was refreshing and relaxing with comfortable lounge chairs, and we enjoyed grilling in the evening and looking up that incredible expanse of stars from our own little private island hideaway. While everything is relatively close, a car is necessary on this part of the island. We enjoyed Sapodilla Bay, just a five or so minute drive, as well as exploring some of the more remote beaches--no neeed to bring beach towels as the house is well stocked with them along with pretty much anything else you need . We truly had a fantastic time, the house was the perfect size for our group, offering peace and serenity off the beaten path. This was our first Caribbean vacation and we couldn't have picked a better spot. We hope to return again! Thanks Rhondda!
