Built in the local rustic style, with decorative touches that echo the areas Moorish past. The bedrooms are on the ground floor creating cool summer sleeping and the living accommodation above in order to take advantage of one of the best views in the village, surpassed only by the magnificent panoramic vistas from the roof terrace. The house is situated in the old (upper) part of the village called ‘Castillo’ where the narrow winding streets reflect its Moorish history. ‘Castillo’ is a mainly pedestrian area ensuring peace and tranquillity since it is rarely disturbed by noisy village traffic.
Some recent comments from the Guest Book: “We have passed two impressive weeks in your beautiful and well kept house (with the best views of Montejaque and the environment). Special thanks for the perfect preparation and equipment for hiking!” Beate and Alfred, Germany
“Perfect in every way! Loved the roof terrace, fantastic views! Had great fun mountain biking and hiking! Thanks for a superb stay.” Stewart and Louise, Glasgow
“Wow!! Have really fallen in love with village, people and your wonderful house! Walks, food and red wine all fabulous. Can’t wait to return. Info you left really helpful.” Jenni and Bob, N. Ireland
“Chilling on the terrace in the evening watching the ibex, bats and griffon vultures was great. Thank you so much.” Maggie and Neal, Sheffield.
Casa Santa Maria is a spacious house right at the top of the village with wonderful views whether on the roof terraced or thorough the doors of the living room. It felt lovely and homely with everything we needed. We travelled with hand luggage only so I left my hair dryer behind only to find one in the house. The BBQ area was nice and shaded for lunch out of the heat of the sun and we enjoyed several evenings on the roof terrace watching the vultures and eagles in the day or lying on sun beds with a bottle of wine watching shooting stars at night. The shops and bars are within easy walking distance. The bars in the village plaza stay open late and serve inexpensive tapas and sangria in a relaxed atmosphere by the fountain. The people in the village are friendly and it is lovely to experience the real Spanish life. No hotel could provide the same level of comfort or experience. I just wish we could've study end longer.
Thank you Monica and John - We'll be back!

Loved the feel, decor & facilities of this house from the moment of arriving. Good base for mountains & beautiful Rhonda. Everything is catered for, very comfortable & extremely clean. Prompt replies to mails, easy to find with very helpful local lady. Roof terrace is amazing & lounge balcony windows also provide lovely views. Unusually very high temperatures whilst there, so air con would be only thing that would have improved our stay but wouldn't stop us returning to this super house. As we had bike there were no issues for us parking wise. Good supermarket & restaurants locally. Overall loved this property and homely & helpful touches the owners had thoughtfully provided.
Our stay in Montejaque in the house of Monica en John Dison.
Monica ( my wife) and my self stayed in this house von 7 – 15 august 2015.
The house is lovely, the interior is verry tasteful and most of all we loved the roof terrace.
There you can easely sit with 4 persons and you have a wonderful view on the village , the mountains and the griffon vultures who are circling above the mountains.
Because the house is situated on a high location against the slope of the mountain, there is some cooling because of the wind.
Montejaque is a quit authentic , small white spanish village with , fortunately , only a few foreign tourists and we used the house as a base to discover the surroundings.
Each time it was nice to come back in the house, although you have to climb, each time the slope to he house (no parking in the direct nabourhood of the house is possible).
The level of quality of the kitchen, the bedrooms, the bathroom etc. is good and the owners have been so kind to provide the gusets of all kind of practical information.
We certainly com back in spring or early summer.

We have visited Montejaque previously and were so delighted with it we returned this year to the Casa Santa Maria which provided the most fantastic accommodation with THE best views over Montejaque.
The house is very well designed and laid out with lovely spacious bedrooms downstairs which were fabulously cool (the en suite in each bedroom was a fabulous luxury especially when travelling with a teenage daughter!!). The kitchen upstairs is very well equipped with everything you could need and the living area itself is wonderful with 2 french windows opening out to give the most wonderful views. My favourite spot was the sun terrace upstairs. The views from this were amazing and in the evening it was just heaven to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the birds singing and the general chatter of village life. My husband loved the patio area, which is a fabulous cool area in the morning and where we enjoyed several lazy breakfasts.
The house was spotlessly clean and felt very bright and welcoming. There was plenty of reading material provided and lots of useful information on local walks and activities.
Montejaque itself is just the most wonderful, unspoilt white village and feels a world away from the coastal resorts down on the Costa Del Sol. The locals are very welcoming and friendly and pace of life in Montejaque is very gentle and relaxing....we can literally feel ourselves unwinding as soon as arrive! There are some lovely little bars and restaurants in the village and the square itself is just the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by.
Case Santa Maria provides a first class holiday accommodation and we were so delighted with the high standard of decor and furnishings throughout. I would thoroughly recommend staying here and we will most definitely return on our next visit!
Thank you Monica and John for providing such wonderful accommodation in this .
Having honeymooned in Montejaque over 20 years ago we had always promised we would return and were keen to show off this fabulous place to our 2 daughters 18, and 15. We had some worries that Montejaque may not live up to our memories but in truth it exceeded them- unspoilt, stunningly located, and a slice of real Spanish village life. Casa Santa Maria itself could hardly be beaten and I find it hard to believe there is a better place to stay in Montejaque. Its location is perfect ,at the top of the village in the old Moorish quarter , with stunning views looking down and literally nesting against the mountains behind, with nightly visits from Ibex to add to the charm. Sitting out in the evening on the roof terrace, watching the colours change on the mountains , whilst the sound of town life in the square drifted up, was magical. The cottage is beautifully decorated and designed and stocked with everything required with the patio barbeque being an additional delight. We enjoyed a number of walks from the house and many many daytrips out to Ronda,, Seville, Granada, and the wonderful and numerous hilltop villages located nearby. What a wonderful wonderful place. It is impossible to recommend it too highly.
We are regular visitors to Montejaque, choosing to stay in a different house on each occasion, and have to say that John and Monica's house is one of the very best we have stayed in. The house is beautifully decorated and maintained and offers everything to make your stay comfortable. The walk up to the house is worth the effort as the views from the top terrace, which are well shaded by large parasols, are wonderful. The smaller terrace outside the kitchen was great for breakfast, well shaded and has an attractive barbecue area. John and Monica use the house themselves and this is reflected in the level of appointment throughout - the large kitchen had all the basics for cooking which are always a pain to buy when you're only there for a week and the welcome starter pack of food and wine was much appreciated. The area around Montejaque is absolutely beautiful and there are many fine walks can be taken from or near the village (John and Monica provide details of walks and maps in folders in the house). We really couldn't fault this lovely house and would heartily recommend it to anyone considering a visit to Montejaque.
Montejaque is nestled into the mountains on the edge of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. It is a walkers paradise and you can even enjoy the spectacular scenery without even leaving the house. The village of Montejaque has all your daily needs including a good selection of tapas bars and restaurants. Ronda, just 30 minutes away is a beautiful historic town. It is close enough to pop in for the evening or just for a wander through the atmospheric streets. The towns of Seville and Jerez are also within easy driving distance for the day.
