|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
The perfect traditional Italian farmhouse / villa, for families and parties of adults alike. Located in a romantic Le Marche setting away from the road (which is very quiet) and in a wonderfully rural location.
The 360 degree views from the house are amazing with distant sea views to the East & The magnificent Sibillini mountains to the West. Le Marche is a fabulously beautiful place, whatever the weather!
Sleeping up to 14 guests, Casa Lola is comprised of 2 traditionally built buildings connected together to create a comfortable and elegant 7 bedroom house with 4 bathroom and or shower rooms plus downstairs WC.
Outside there is a large terracotta terrace and covered pergola, table, chairs and big parasols to keep the sun at bay. You can lie under the fig trees if it gets too hot.
A 9 x 6 metre South facing fenced private fenced swimming pool is located just below the house , with spectacular views of the mountains and surrounding rolling hills. It also has a large terracotta terrace with elegant French pool furniture to relax on.
The house has a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, DVD, CD player, ipod docks 4&5 (please bring own music) 2 x cots & a camp bed.
The large 7.5 x 5.5m kitchen is very well appointed with wood-burning stove to keep guests warm in the winter months.
There are 2 good sized reception rooms beyond the kitchen.
A large farm building located close to the villa has been converted into a playden for guest's use - Casa Pollo. It houses a huge netted trampoline, table-tennis, table football, and lots of toys for smaller children to enjoy, ranging from train sets and doll's houses to a village shop plus more toys to entertain the smaller family members.
There is also a play-house, a swing set and sandpit for guest's use next to Casa Pollo.
Casa Lola is located in the commune of Monte San Martino, one of the most beautiful hill-top villages in the region; where the local church houses some of the best renaissance art from the Crivelli brothers, also to be seen in the National Gallery and other great galleries of the world (and we have some on our door-step - wonderful)!
There are excellent places to eat a short drive from the villa (or hearty walk) and cafes and delicious home made Italian ice-cream to be enjoyed in the gelaterias of Amandola and Sarnarno.
The Sibillini mountains offer some of the best walking to be had in the country, ranging from treks up valleys along the shaded rivers to more robust clambers where you can stay at refugios located strategically along crafted routes.
Excellent day trips include Assisi and Urbino, and Ascoli Piceno with it's piazzas and galleries offering culture vultures a glorious day out.
Closer to home there is a riding school in the valley and playgrounds in abundance for very small children. A lake below the house with a deer park (although deer tend to hide) gentle buggy-friendly walk and pizzeria (with basic swings and slide to occupy energetic children) and restaurant to hand.
Casa Lola, voted one of the top 10 Mountain Lodges in Europe by the Guardian newspaper June 2016
As a SME business owner in London but have always loved Italy. As a teenager I was sent there on an exchange trip. I could not believe how good the food and weather was and the history and beauty of the country, also how friendly the people were - I was hooked!
Victoria Whitbread purchased this farmhouse in 2001
I bought Casa Lola as a bit of a wreck but I could see the potential instantly. I had never seen a better view in some of the most fabulous scenery in Europe.
The peace and beauty of the place - outstanding!
Casa Lola is paradise for toddlers - and adults. The house is beautiful, there's a never ending range of entertainment for the little ones from the swimming pool to a sandpit perfectly located in the shade for the afternoon, and a warehouse packed full of toys including a giant trampoline. The toiletries in the bathroom make you feel like you are in a five star hotel, but Victoria's charming help and advice from the time we booked is one of a kind. We booked a chef to cook for us on Victoria's recommendation and that was brilliant, allowing the adults to relax and indulge in amazing food without worrying about babysitters or taxis. Overall, it was the best holiday we've had since our son was born. I'd definitely go back
Casa Lola is an exceptional home away from home, with a luxurious feel and plenty of extra space to unwind. Inside the rooms are large and airy with bright generous corridors and outside there are breezy terraces and lots of choice of seating areas to suit your mood. Its fantastic layout means you see those magnificent views from wherever you are and enjoy a real sense of seclusion - even from one another if you want it. We had four children with us, the youngest just aged 2 and yet we were happy to let them hurtle about on their own; Casa Lola is very well maintained and child friendly.
The real jewel at Casa Lola for us was the huge play barn, I haven't seen anything like it and we couldn't have done without it when we needed to keep our energetic gang out of the sun and entertained after dusk.
There is so much to do you won't fit it all in. We managed some shopping in the local villages, a trip to a hilltop playground, boating on the lake, horse riding, trekking, a day trip across the mountains and a visit to meet the local farmer. We even made it to the opera thanks to a wonderful babysitter Victoria arranged. The spas looked like a lot of fun - something for another visit.
What distinguishes Casa Lola from anywhere else we stayed is how effortless everything felt; the hosts have put a lot of thought into making the experience extra special, there are lots of touches that elevate this villa above and beyond. They really want to you to love your time at the villa and we certainly did. I can't recommend it enough.
Three generations of our family had a wonderful stay at Casa Lola. The views from the house are unbeatable and everything you need to have a wonderful stay are all there.
Our four year old had a wonderful time with lots to do on site. Our toddler was also very happy with everything on offer to play with but the sloping terrain (which made the views so amazing) meant letting him roam around anything but closely supervised wasn't an option.
The nearby towns are gorgeous albeit certainly not walkable and the area is fairly undiscovered and authentically Italian, just what we wanted. Perhaps for this reason, meals out and food in general seemed very reasonably priced.
All in all a wonderful stay.
It is a fantastic property that is very well managed. We went for a week (4 adults and 2 toddlers and 1 baby) and it perfectly matched our needs. It is in a beautiful area, it is pretty remote but we loved that. The barn in particular was amazing for the kids, so many toys and things to do. The kitchen is very well equipped, there is loads of toys and things to do and lots of space both indoors and outdoors. The area doesn't have many tourists but we found all the locals very friendly. Can't recommend it enough.
Casa Lola is a very special place. You can watch the sun rise over the Adriatic and set behind the spectacular Sibillini Mountains.
We found the Villa to be absolutely perfect for the needs of our extended family group (with ages ranging from 3 - 58 years). There is plenty of space both inside and out to allow everyone to get together or to find their own little quiet spot. As a family we tended to congregate around the huge table in the kitchen dining area and enjoyed breakfast on the lower terrace. The playbarn is particularly useful to keep the young ones happily occupied during the heat of the day or if it rains (you are in the hills) and the pool is glorious.
The property was very well prepared for our arrival and both Victoria the owner and Pete and Marina who look after it for her could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The relaxed and easy going atmosphere makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive.
We tended to eat at the villa most nights. The kitchen is very well equipped and the BBQ has THAT view! Of the local restaurants we tried, the cheerful Bella Napoli in Amandola was a family favourite. We also loved Mama Rosa further afield below Ortezzano with its world championship winning pizzas.
The area has something for everyone, with mountains, beaches, caves, an abundance of wildlife and flora and some fascinating and beautiful towns to explore. A car is essential.
We have fallen in love with Casa Lola. This was our second visit and we have every intention of returning.
We have stayed here once before but since then the house has been significantly extended and is now even more spacious and comfortable. The owner has decorated it beautifully, with all sorts of interesting furniture (modern and antiques mixed brilliantly). Very comfortable beds and all the kitchen stuff one could possibly need (as well as games room which the children loved). The views are simply incredible, and the region generally is beautiful and completely unspoilt. Amazing local restaurants, and we loved the Crivellis in the church in Monte San Martino (once we'd actually negotiated entry). All in all we love it here and had a fabulous holiday.
We stayed in Casa Lola with our three children aged 8, 3 and 1 together with our friends and their son (age 7). The kids loved the house, the pool and especially Casa Pollo with lot of things to do for them. Casa Lola was perfect for us; not too luxury but VERY nice and cozy - just what we imagined that the villa would be like. The owner was really nice and helpful as well as the couple that were responsible for the on-site practicalities. Always helpful, caring and responding. We would highly recommend this place for friends and relatives! The scenery is breathtaking and can not be caught in pictures. Loved the nereby restaurants (Le Querce and pizza place down by the lake). Also had a traditional dinner at the Casa Lola prepared by two lovely ladies. Plenty of things to see and do nereby the villa within reachable distances. We would all love to go back soon!
Casa Lola is located close to the Sibillini National Park, designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Located above a valley the house looks down onto a lake and has 360 degree views of the quite stunning scenery.
There are many beautiful ancient hill-top towns and villages close by, a riding school, spa centre at Sarnarno and fabulous attractions such as Frasacci caves and Assisi are a great day trip.
Walking in the mountains is exceptional if that's of interest - with refuges and walking clubs if you would like this sort of structure?
Mountain biking and fresh water lakes at your fingertips as well as winter skiing. This part of Le Marche is exceptional.
